I know there are some minor mistakes in the lyrics & timing, but I'm not gonna re-do them over again just because someone saw the mistakes and were bugged by them. If you're bugged by the mistakes, then go watch the original video instead. It'll make both our lives much easier if you do.

True, it's not even officially confirmed if Mary even thought Gary resembles her Father. The original theory is that she just is jealous about his bond with Ib :)

Well most stuff that comes from paintings are evil.
If you think about it from Mary's perspective, you begin to understand a lot. She's young, she lost her father, and she just wants to have someone there for her. These things though, do not justify her wrongs. She is very violent, has tried to harm Ib many times and has even gone as far as to kill Gary. A lot of the events within the game are orchestrated by Mary to keep Ib inside the gallery with her. Mary is a tragic character, who deserved better. But that doesn't mean she's a good person. I personally love Mary as a character, though as a person I see her as who she is. A violent, clingy, and overall sad girl. If you love her, that's perfectly fine and justified. If you dislike her, that's just as understandable and okay. There is really no need to fight.

I had recently seen them upload a video of a rock version of this song, kind of different lyrics and whatnot, but reading through the comments I had found that they are attempting to remaster Ib ^^

Black Licorice she kills Garry in more than one ending. If we're assuming that she DOESN'T control the dolls (which is unlikely, since the other pieces in the gallery seem to respond to her orders, so it isn't a stretch to think that she's responsible for what happens to garry in the doll room and for his death in the endings where he goes permanently mad in there), then she still kills him directly in at least 2/10 endings.

Actually, that's not my opinion. My opinion, instead, is that Mary is one of the most well- developed characters I've ever heard of. And I can explain this with only one sentence: People disagree on whether she's a good person or a bad one. I love Mary as a character for the same reason I believe that Kouri should not add an ending where both Mary and Garry make it out alive: This shows both Kouri's genius and the fan's inner character.
Garry, however, I have a VERY dissenting opinion on. That being that while I like him as a PERSON, as a CHARACTER he's unappealing to me. In my opinion, Garry just seems bland, theme songs and all. He's just your ordinary father- type character with a strong weakness to jumpscares. He bores me. Plus, it seems like him being there eventually starts to take away from the atmosphere that the Blue, Green, and Yellow Areas did *_so_* well. Well, either that, or I just don't like the song for the Violet and Brown Areas.
I have to admit, though, it was pretty funny seeing him go "KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" because a painting with a wobbly tongue tried to spit on him.

You know, good or bad, Mary was kind of an idiot.
I know she's young (At least mentally) and I know that she didn't know him well but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Garry's nice, in fact, right after they met, he was telling Ib and Mary to be safe and keep an eye on their roses until she interrupted him, and even before that he clearly showed friendliness.
Now, I think it's safe to assume that the "Flowers of Jealousy" painting (The one that separated them) were controlled by Mary, at least to some degree, as we clearly see she holds authority over some works in one of the endings (I believe it was "A Painting's Demise", where she asks the Red Headless Statue blocking her way to her sketchbook to move, and it does).
Had she not separated them by force, though, she could have easily stopped Garry from reading the book that told him she was a painting, and let them discover on their own that only two could get out, and had Garry just sacrifice himself, or, maybe not even let them find out that only two could get out. Surely if all three of them got to the "Fabricated World" painting together, she could ask to go through first and neither Ib nor Garry would have a problem with that. After all, she seems quite comfortable making herself seem weak and innocent and scared.
Remember, Mary not only knows the ins and outs of the gallery, but she also has some degree of control over it, and has been trying to get out for, presumably a long time. In fact it's likely that she's far older than Ib or even Garry and honestly, mentally young or not, she should have figured all of this out, by that point.
That being said, I find this game absolutely beautiful and this is not me criticizing it in any way.

Someone wokld have have to be miserable. Death is the only way out, and mary new this, to some degree. She just didn't want to dye. Gary would have never let marn mary get out. I feel like later on, after the game, she would have burnt that place to the ground. It was the creator who was really at fault here. He knew this would cause misery, but he created it anyway.

has anyone ever thought about WHY she was evil? I mean she is locked up all her live in there and desperate to escape, any of you would ALSO lose your minds after years and years... don't act like you wouldn't, all she wanted is to either die so it would stop or escape, and escape has the higher priority of course, and if 1 life is in her way, than so be it, because you're that desperate... stop hating her, she can't help it that shes gone mad.

There's another ending where Ib burns Mary, and Garry is dead, and Garry becomes the painting. Then there's an ending where Ib stays, and Mary and Garry go to the real world. And I believe there's an ending where Mary goes to the real world alone, because Garry is dead and I think Ib is too. I'm not too sure about that though.

I know this has been said a million times, but I just finished the game. So yeah. It needs an ending where all three can escape. In my mind, Ib's parents adopt Mary and they become sisters, then Ib meets Garry again years later (when she's an adult) and they get married, with Mary gaining a big brother in the process. Garry is a nice guy and I think Mary really is a sweet girl too, she's just lonely and desperate. None of them should die. Even if it's hard to obtain, that's fine. Just make it exist. ;A; I connect most with Mary because I also lost my father and miss him dearly. Course, I'm not a painting... or am I?

Mary's fate is what made Ib so memorable to us. 11 years later and I'm still listening to this. Still lamenting the fact you can't save all three.
So my dad heard me playing this and was surprised, cuz he heard it at the part "why do you hate me so much" and i had to explain the true ending of Ib...after trying to explain witches house prior, i already knew he couldnt quite see past it being fake, but i nonetheless tried. Result? He called it evil, and assumes i'm consumed by it because i actually understand the story and results and why the actions taken were necessary. I had no idea that being intelligent and being able to understand was such a "sin". -_-#

Really? I love Mary and this song don't get me wrong, but she is the supposed "bad guy" the one you're trying to get away from. I mean she wants to keep you to herself and she even takes your place in the real world. I liked Garry more than Mary but Mary is probably the one of the prettiest and scariest villein I have ever seen. I know she wanted company but don't say she's a good guy or anything like that, she's a corrupted painting, and she's not alone in that world!
yes oke you are right, but at the end the song says "she only wanted to be with her father" before this she said " why he resembles the one who created this world". with he she means Garry because he resembles the one whom created her world. I think that in this case father and creator are in this case synonims. out of this I can say that Garry probably is the creator of Marry's world. now we have the explanation for why she want to keep Garry with her, because he is her father. this alone does not give an explanation for ib, so in the song Marry said " I liked you from the first sight" so this is one of the reasons that she wanted to keep Ib in her world too. however, this shows signs of egoïsm so your right about this. Also, how could Marry know that she was acting selfish, I mean, she wasn't raised by parents so how could she possibly know about whats good and what not. then again, how do we know this world existed before Garry and Ib entered it. i think it was born when Marry was made. she only has her puppets, whom have no self awareness of which she could learn the things about good or bad. so my opinion about this is: It's only natural, if you have been lonely for a few years, and new people entered your world that you would try to keep them there. she might did it in an egoistic way but I don't blame her for that, because she probably even never hard of morality. so thats what made me think : is M arry really that evil? sorry if I have offended you with this long text :P

In my theory Guertena made a contract to that paint. and the hanged paint may refer on how did he made the contract so his work will come to life. and Gary is maybe a son of Guertena cuz Gary looks like him and Gary can see the real form of the painting (In the doll room where Ib see it as a rabbit).
Actually Mary is good she just wants to get out of the place she's been her whole life and of course being in there with all those "things" would probably make you kinda insane, especially since she's had only the other living paintings with her.

As much as I love Mary, I strongly dislike the ending Together Forever, especially when you have to choose between Mary and Garry. It literally makes me cry because Garry has done so much - sacrificed his own life to save Ib's just for her to leave him in the Fabricated World when they both showed lots of care for each other and were so motivated to get out.

Mary isn't a bad guy people. She's lonely and scared and this corrupts her. When she sees Ib she's so ready to not be alone anymore that she lies to be with her. She doesn't hate Gary but sees him as a threat to taking away her only friend and that's why she tries to take his place in the real world. I'm not saying that she was good, but she certainly isn't bad.

Every time I hear this song, it makes me feel sorry for Mary, but every time I think of Garry giving his rose to her and she slowly plucking away at his life makes me feel sorry for Garry and Ib. Needless to say, I have mixed feelings about this amazing, evil, sad, antagonist.

Here's a thought, everyone may be hating on Mary for trying to kill Garry and IB.
But take a look at it like this, maybe she only did it because deep down she knew she couldn't leave the gallery and watched Garry and IB safe, she knew for them to leave her behind they'd have to hate her- so she put on a show and got them to fear/ hate her to the point where they wouldn't feel so bad about leaving her behind. Also the fact when they burnt her canvas , Mary could of been hoping for that so even though she didn't escape she wouldn't have to be alone anymore.

There’s no win win here... you have to kill one of the other, but if there was an ending were Garry and Ib both get out, but Mary is still alive. Maybe she could be transferred to a sketchbook, and stay with Ib forever, while not being in the real world? It’s sad that she still can’t interact with things, but at least Mary could see the world and still have a friendship with Ib.
I love how they dont all have happy endings. That is what makes the stories so great!!! It is a horror rpg after all. Happy endings just not right for these.... Plus marry has to replace someone in the real world to be able to leave that is why she only wants one rose and not both. She cares for Ib more (due to you being with her longer) and so she would rather kill Garry than Ib.

yes but all along she was the one trying to kill gary off when she met ib before that it was just the fucked up art but after that mary tried to kill gary off so she can be with ib and never be alone and to be quite honest i know how it feels to be alone i know where mary comes from but that doenst mean she is right to try to end someones life i know she was desperate but that still does not make it right.

you get the ending with Mary and Ib if you have less affection points with Garry and more with Mary... honestly, I like the ending promise of reunion... Mary was a painting, not a human and Garry was a human with a family and someone who loved him and i think that death brought Mary and her father together. both Mary and her father were lonely and death reunited them...like in Romeo and Juliet... but daughter and father...
