    This is a great post!! I have 73 Moria Goblins in my 1500 point army...primed Thursday, dry brushed Friday, red almost completed Saturday, finish red and start green later tonight...will all be done for next weekend....also four cave trolls, one bat-swarm, groblog and a balrog (with flame sword added to left hand minor conversion) built and primed. Your vids are an inspiration!!!!

      Well done! It's a pretty quick method, that's for sure!

      Did you follow a guide for your balrog conversion?

    • @grahamlloyd7157

      @@Wheredapartyat Hi, I followed the brief conversion that is included in the post, 'Painting Realistic Fire On A Balrog' by 'The Pickle Jar. The conversion is quite straight forward - basically a couple of very straightforward cuts and three simple sausage shapes to make the missing sections of fingers . I used Milliput rather than Green stuff, and when orientating the sword I had the flames on my sword pointing upwards...I think the only other thing I may have done differently was to add an intermediate stage where I inserted a small piece of hilt for the sword because sometimes when I look at it I think the sword is very slightly short...but I have mentioned this to a few people and they have said it is not needed. Anyway - I am no modelling guru and the result I achieved is exactly what I intended, so I would recommend it to anyone who thinks they would like to get that effect. Good luck!

    Thank you for this tutorial, easy to follow and looks great.
    I've decided to repaint my (about 20 year old?) models from the Battle Games in Middle Earth magazine, that I had originally painted following the very basic and non shaded tutorial from that magazine.

    This is such a great guide! Buzzing to get my hands on the battle of Balin’s tomb, would be awesome to see your fellowship painting guide, the only other one I’ve seen on UA-cam is the fellowship in 9 colours guide.

      I've got a few Middle Earth models in the line-up, Fellowship included (when it arrives). Thanks for watching!

      @@criticalhitwargaming5290 Just picking up some paints to start painting the goblins, I noticed you recommend any mid green (i.e. WAAGH flesh). Would castellan green still be your preferred choice for the goblins skin?

    • @criticalhitwargaming5290
      @criticalhitwargaming5290  3 роки тому +1

      @@LiamRobinsonUK Waagh Flesh works absolutely fine too, highlighted with Skarsnik Green instead of Loren Forest. Your Goblins will just look a little more classic green than using the slightly more subdued Castellan/Loren combo. Use all four if you want to create some variation!

      @LiamRobinsonUK 3 роки тому

      @@criticalhitwargaming5290 Thanks mate, think I definitely like your more subdued tones. Currently planning out the fellowship, and there are so many paints required for someone who doesn’t have any of them 😂

    Hi have you got one painted with the spears can't work out the cloths on the back of them to the armour thanks

    • @criticalhitwargaming5290
      @criticalhitwargaming5290  2 роки тому

      A lot of it is cloth, but it really doesn't matter how you paint it if you're not sure. They're so tiny that when they're all on the table together in a mob, you won't notice. 🙂

    Loving your content! Such a nice way to paint the Goblins... Are you planning to bring more Middle-Earth minis apart from the set? Would love to watch a Khazad Guard and so on ^^

      Howdy! Yes I am, I'm painted some Morannon Orcs and Riders of Rohan for guides, check them out. The Riders in particular came out really good.
      I'll be doing the rest of the Pelennor Fields set over the next couple of months, and then I may move further afield! Trouble is getting hold of the models.

  • @WMfin
    @WMfin 3 роки тому +1

    That's very good! Makes me want to repaint mine!
    How's the recommended way of repainting? Just spray basecoat on the top of the old paint or get rid of the paint first somehow?

    • @criticalhitwargaming5290
      @criticalhitwargaming5290  3 роки тому +1

      If the paint you've done so far isn't too thick, just give it a quick respray and start again. If it's gone on thick, I'd search for a 'how to strip models' video on UA-cam and start again!
      Thanks for watching!

    Hey, i love your Speed Painting series of videos. Are you also planning to make this kind of videos also for the fellowship? I Just got Battle in Balin's Tomb and i thought i would like to make the same videos on my italian Channel inspired by yours (i'm planning to cit your job of course).

    • @criticalhitwargaming5290
      @criticalhitwargaming5290  3 роки тому +1

      Hey buddy! Yeah, I'll be doing the Fellowship - just waiting for my Balin's Tomb box to arrive, as I've already painted my Fellowship from before. I'll be doing the Cave Troll too.
      Help your fellow Italians get some paint on those models!

      @@MidnightLunacyGaming That is high praise indeed, good lord! I will get the Fellowship done ASAP as I don't think there's anything outside of the fairly basic Warhammer TV one.
