- This video follows a black locust log with burls getting milled up on our Woodmizer LX-250. Burls of this size are very rare and they were very solid and without flaws once the log was opened up.
We milled all of the slabs into live edge slabs to be used for epoxy river tables after they get done in the kiln. Most of our black locust logs are milled into 4/4 or 1 inch thick dimensional lumber for flooring.
This is some beautiful wood, I’m in love with the Black Locust Wood…………This wood has the coolest trick, this wood glows under black light…….. beautiful coloration ❤!
Really is a beautiful wood. Makes wonderful and incredibly durable flooring. Just hard on the blades!
Nice job
Thank you. We love what we do.
Good work! Have yet to cut some locust. What do you think of the lx250?
I love the LX250. The electric motor and width ability leaves little to be desired. We can mill 98% of all of our logs with the LX250. Locust is hard! especially the locust burls. Thanks for watching.
gorgeous grain. The burl is almost wasted as a plank though. Should have been sliced off and turned.
We ended up with some incredible burl caps that ended up getting waxed and are sitting next to our lathe currently. We are very mindful of turning stock potential as we turn most of it ourselves. Have you had black locust burl on the lathe before? I have never turned any locust.
@@WickedWoodsNWLLC It's very rare to see Black Locust that size, let alone with that large of a burl. You guys had a very nice find. That's kind of why I stopped to watch, never seen Black Locust burl before..
@katieluv8422 We have two more black locust logs with similar sized burls which will be coming up soon. Stay tuned and thanks for watching!
