I remember when going to a car deanship back in the 90's and the gold package was the in thing to get at the time. I did not think this was popular any more.
Back in the 90's it was HUGE. We sold thousands of our Gold Star Kit and did plating for dealerships all over the USA. It fell off for a decade or two and now it is back and spreading like wildfire. Low-riders, show cars and even regular cars are getting gold packages now. In the show car community is a must-have, in the current trend. We've sold hundreds if not thousands of these kits since it came out 2 years ago and the vast majority of those people are doing automotive plating.
Muriatic acid/hydrochloric acid/HCl will remove chrome quickly. You should apply the plating solution over a larger supply container so that the excess drips into the larger container and isn't wasted.

how do you do to aply a second or third coat? also if i got a copper plated coin can i gold plate it directly without activating ? can i home brew my own gold electrolyte solution?
There is no need to apply multiple coats. The longer you plate the thicker it gets. You can gold plate directly onto a coin. DO NOT HOME BREW YOUR OWN GOLD SOLUTION! Regardless of videos shown on youtube it is extremely dangerous and the result is far from professional.

how long does the gold last before it starts to fade?
How long gold plating will last depends on a few variables.
1) How thick the gold is applied.
2) What type of item is it/How will it be handled?The thickness is controlled by how long you plate the item. For instance, if you were to stop plating immediately after the item turns gold, that would be a very thin plate. However, if you spent multiple minutes plating that same area, it would be very thick. The thicker the gold the longer it lasts. Different types of items are handled differently, some a lot and some not at all. If it were a decorative item that is never touched it would stay gold plated indefinitely, could be centuries. If it were something like a Wedding ring that is worn daily, it then depends on how thick the gold is plated. If it were a thin plate it could wear off in a week. If it were very thick, like Vermeil plating (100 micro-inches) it cost last a lifetime. When done properly, gold plating lasts many years if not decades on most items. If it's a thick gold plate, even on an item that is handled properly, it should last many years unless it is purposely removed by abrasive means (polishing etc.)
How well would this electro-plating hold up to the high heat of say a motorcycle exhaust? I'd like to go gold on my bobber, but don't want to buy new pipes since theres nothing wrong with my current chrome pipes.
Usually if the heat will affect the look of the chrome it will affect the look of the gold plating. Our gold is great on high temperatures (up to about 400 degrees) but the metal beneath the gold may start to corrode.
What is the Nickle Activation solution? I've never heard of it. I'm assuming it's not nickle sulfate or chloride right?
Nickel Activator (or Surface Activator) is an acidic solution that has no metallic content. It is purely for activation of certain metals. Either an activator or a strike is used when plating onto almost any metal, which one is used depends on the metal being plated onto.

Yes. If you stripped the chrome off the parts and then plated it, it would work.

It is real, 24K gold, 99.97%+ minimum purity. The gold bullion undergoes a process of transformation into a salt. When this transformation is complete, it looks a lot like table-salt (white). When you add the gold salt to distilled water, it immediately dissolves into solution. When electricity is added to the solution, (+)Positive at the anode and (-)Negative at the item you're plating, the gold is transformed again into metallic gold onto the item you have submerged. There are many other make-up components in the bath, such as hardeners and brighteners, that give the solution it's Purple color but if there was just the gold dissolved in the water it is crystal clear. Yes, in fact the car emblem in this video is made of plastic. Plastic car emblems are nickel plated prior to being chrome plated. With electroplating, the important thing is that the SURFACE is conductive.

I've read reviews and seen pictures of numerous people that have used this and they get black clouds. And Is the stripper supposed to sizzle when applying it? I don't know man. Too much money to take that kind of risk if the gold sucks and it tears everything you plate to hell.
We have sold literally hundreds of these kits and have had very few people have issues. Any who have had issues were making a mistake with the process and once contacting us with a small amount of support are up and going well. As you can see in the video, the plating goes very smoothly when done correctly. Black clouds are from either not getting all the chrome off or from leaving Surface Activator on exposed nickel too long to where the acid corroded the nickel. We have multiple other videos showing these common mistakes and how to avoid them. We have technicians who have been doing this for 10-30 years and provide technical support Mon-Fri from 9am-4pm.

All of the steps we have shown are very important to the gold adhering properly but also looking correct in the end. If you do not strip the chrome and activate the nickel the gold will not turn out the way it should. We would never include steps that do not have a good purpose.

Similar industries but they are different. Powder coating is done using a free-flowing, dry powder, that is applied using electrostatic and has to cure. This process uses liquids with real metal, dissolved into solution in salt form, that comes out of solution and deposits onto your part through an electrochemical reaction. They are both finishing processes, albeit similar they are completely different crafts.

If you're paying hundreds of dollars for someone to do it, maybe. If you're doing it yourself and it costs $2.00, why not? A lot of people with a car they love will plate their emblems, regardless of the cars value. You'd be surprised how many people with regular cars send their emblems in to us to be plated. Many people who buy this kit to do this for a living make a ton of money plating ordinary cars. When you have a kit and it costs very little to plate things, many things you'd never imagine become possible to plate and make it look nice.

We don't do Neo Chroming, sorry. We only do electroplating with standard metals. I believe Neo Chroming is done by applying Titanium Oxide via PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) over a standard Chrome plating.

how to know if the gold solution contains cyanide stuff? I've seen the dark pink solution like in this video and some clear solution, they all claimed they didn't use cyanide.

Absolutely it can be lucrative. How successful you are is much like any other business - Offer a quality product, marketing, etc. We have many customers who are very successful, some quit their fulltime jobs. We have others who aren't as successful. We find ourselves so busy we can barely keep up!

what about the black paint on the nissan lettering will that get stripped off or ruined while plating over everything?

Gold can be chemically stripped, however the result is not a usable plating solution. The gold dissolves back into the stripping solution and although it can be recovered it can only be done by refineries who recover it from that form.

Electroplating requires the item to be conductive (metal) or at least have a metal surface. Glass that has gold on it is typically done with a gold glaze.
