A knife attack is extremely frightening to me as I know how dangerous and potentially deadly they can be. They are especially lethal in the hands of a trained attacker. The jail-house type assault is one of the worst, where you're unexpectedly and quickly grabbed, and held "helplessly" secure by his one hand, while being repeatedly stabbed by the other. I had a relative who was stabbed to death in a violent knife assault, it was tragic beyond words. I previously learned how to identify a trained attacker, and hand to hand knife defenses during my formal martial art training, but never had much faith in those defenses. I believe the cane gives us more hope. Thank you once again Master Hernandez for an extremely crucial and well taught lesson!

Excellent technique. Absolutely no mercy toward anyone who attacks with a knife or any other deadly weapon. If he sustains a serious or fatal injury, it’s his own fault. The savage cane series is the real deal.

general rule of thumb is run when the blade comes out That said I need my cane just to stay upright and walk so running not a realistic response for me . Prob the same for a lot of folks The fight has already started when you see any weapon so hit him first hit him fast hit him hard and hit him last .You doing a great job my friend .TY for all your posts :-)

Well stated my fellow cane advocate. I would add, run "immediately" if you can, if you see one or both hands concealed behind or in the pockets of an APPROACHING potential aggressor. If there was time, and proper distance, I would likely yell, "STOP, SHOW ME YOUR HANDS"! If he did not immediately comply, and continue to approach, it's "run" or defend. You may never have the second chance. IF he had no weapon, I would later apologize and pay his medical bills if needed, and explain my side to the court if required. I'd rather error on the side of my survival, than be stabbed from being too hesitant. Ed Parker, the founder of American Kenpo, stated, "He who hesitates, meditates in the horizontal...."

Also, don't be afraid to tell a stranger to get the fuck away from you and say it loud, you know what I mean?; Someone on the street comes and walks up real close to you, saying something, some bullshit= You just tell that person to get back and you yell it loud, be mean, let everyone hear it, do it before they get 5 feet in front of you, you don't know them, don't be afraid to be a loud weirdo if you think you'd be, just be nice if its all good, your life is worth it, no use having to deal with a guy with a knife who's already up on you 3-4 feet away cos he acted like he needed something. Get out of those fucked up areas too, whatever it takes, I'd rather be homeless in an honest and just society than keep a job and house in Babylon/Hell On Earth.
