This song is too much, and the english translation doesnt do that much justice with the tagalog lyrics, specially with the "ako na"(let me do it) because the more exact translation would be "it's my turn to take care of you". This such a personal song

I can't imagine Josh and Ken singing their parts live, growing up without their dads by their sides. Not even a memory to reminisce for Josh as he never met his dad. He had to fight for his life on his own. While Ken's grandma who stood as his parent, just recently passed away and he was not able see her for the last time before she died. 🥺

What makes this song sad for a bit is Josh singing the part for Fathers when he never met his father and he grew up facing the world alone for most of his life. Then Ken's Grandma, the person who stood as his Mother also, died and she didn't heard this song. Imagine how sad it is for Ken to not be there for his Grandma on her deathbed.

This song strikes me so much. I recently lost my father. I even promised him when i got better and recoverd from my surgery. I would take care of him. But after recovery my father just got hospitalized and end up comatozed and end up resting peacefully. My father is really a great dad. And dis song goes out to all the parents who work truly hard for their children.😊

I wish you guys can read/understand Filipino.. the translation and meaning is already so beautiful, but the actual words in the lyrics are just perfection. The word play Pablo used for MaPa is just the beginning... through out the song he used words beginning with Ma and Pa and it makes the song easier and more interesting to listen to. Imagine how "lataratara" fits in this MV, since "La Tara/La Tierra" means the Earth or the world. Especially since the song includes an emphasis in "map" as also seen in the MV, plus in the end they showed the world/globe. I know "la tierra" is Spanish, but since the Philippines have a big influence from Spain, it's not impossible that it may be the case, or maybe a genius play on words by Pablo.

When I watched Mapa during its premiere night I didn't cry. I love the song but didn't get emotional. Yet after listening it so many times and watching your RV, sh8! In the Philippines the word "MAPA" means "Map" in English, as in world map. Basically, the song means, in a context, that our parents are literally the ones who will bring us to the place that we really wanted to be, like reaching our goals in life. And if the day comes that we will become succesful, it's time for them to take a rest and let us do our part to make them feel that they are important and they have done great in our lives.

1. MAMA and PAPA = basically, our parents
2. MAP = Tagalog word for map.
3. MA for mata(eyes), our mothers are the light or beacon of the family.(ilaw ng tahanan),PA for paa(legs), our fathers stand as the pillars or providers of the family (haligi ng tahanan).
