Exploring the Squier 40th Anniversary Gold Edition Basses | Fender
/ fender
Squier has come a long way. They're not just for beginners anymore. Great work Squier.
They are also not beginner prices anymore either. Sire is the way to go for this price range.
@@Mike-li5uv The Bullet Strat and Affinity series is still $200-$250. Classic Vibe and Contemporary are on the more expensive side. These limited edition models are the most expensive as of now.
If these basses had a Fender logo on their headstock, they would be $1500.00 at least.
@@Mike-li5uv If you want the classic Fender sound, Sire will not do at all. No one is after the Sire sound lol
@@michaelbell75 I think we are looking for different sounds, regardless, neither the Squier nor the Sire will give you the true Fender sound. I’m more of a modern sound kind of a guy but I do have a 78 P-Bass to get that classic sound when needed. All I meant by my comment was that Squier is upping its game because Sire has way better quality for an affordable price. I didn’t mean you would get a Fender sound out of a Sire. Either way, keep on rockin!
I walked into my local Guitar Center.. tried out a bunch of made in Mexico Fender Precision basses.. which were okay... Then I sat down and tried the blue and gold Squire 40th anniversary Precision bass..... And I was totally blown away! The action was incredible.... totally comfortable and fast neck and totally gorgeous bass guitar with all the gold trimming... After playing it for about 10 minutes I immediately put a deposit down on it... And I was only looking to buy a set of bass guitar strings that day... The bass felt as good as a $1,500 american-made Precision... And I'm not exaggerating.. highly recommended! Indeed Squire has come a long way!
The dark red and gold look beautiful together
I'd love to get the black version of that P bass, it looks _soooo_ frigging good! And no complaints regarding the sound either!
The neck binding is such a nice touch!
Just like Squier, I was born in 1982 so I'll be 40 next april. The ruby red metallic Jazz is going to be my birthday present!
Happy early birthday! 🎸🔥😎
@@fender Thank you :)
Super nice basses. Great demo love the playing and the description. Thank You 👏🤗
I have MIA & MIJ Jazz basses, but that Squier looks and sounds great. I might have to add that!
Looks and sound 10/10
They both sound Great!
Gorgeous basses
The bass run at 2:00 is delightful! Love it! Oh and great basses though.
These are great basses.
I have an American Pro P Bass and a Squier P Bass and they are BOTH great. These basses look to be fantastic!
FENDER!!! you’ve done it! It was worth the wait, but you’ve finally released a Precision in Sunset Metallic!!! Squier Contemporary Active 😁🎸
A Precision should never be active.
I was never really in to gold hardware but these are beautiful
Wow, they look and sound so awesome! 😍
And their wood are crappy as heck. Won't last 10 years.
@@bapt_andthebasses I don't know what you're doing with your basses/guitars but I own way cheaper guitars with not the best woods that are between 15 and 20 years old and they're doing just fine
@@rear5118 all my 1st Gen Classic vibe Squiers trussrods and necks are fine. Since 2019, they've gone down hill. I'm not the only one with that statement
@@bapt_andthebasses body wood on this range is pretty average too, it's nyatoh, not nato as some believe.Read up on nyatoh, it's a very average tone wood.
@@thewomble1509 I had a CV 70 Precision in Nyatoh, it was beautiful, very light, and not as dingy as basswood.
Got one that same jazz bass guitar
Played that P bass alongside the Squier CV 60s bass in that special sonic blue color. I actually preferred the 60s model. This P is really nice though.
wow, this Precision is beautiful! is it going to be available left-handed ?
sadly no
I am sorry my friend. I have a lot of sympathy for my left handed brothers
Really nice and the price is right. The P-Bass sounds great.
So excited and waiting for this review
Me too. But not sure they’ve done justice via the video.
@@davidharding200 I agree with you. a deeper comparision should have been done. but by the sound of the jazz bass it convinced me by it self!
already ordered my 40th p bass! can't wait for it to come in!!
We're honored! May it bring you years of music and memories.
How's it going so far ?
@@Livemusic1800 i had to return it, It came in broken. It’s not a bad instrument or anything, but yeah. I decided to get a refund and get a fender instead, might as well if you’re gonna pay 600
@@jeef506 ohh really. Damn thats sad 😔 From where was it broken. ??? Ohh i see. What fender you get ?
@@Livemusic1800 havent gotten one yet, but I will eventually
cool to see brian here! he shreds on vampire weekends live version of sunflower
0:02 give the mule what he wants bass line, sort of 😂😅
I knew itas soon as I heard it lmao. is there another song that uses that bass riff?
Still rocking my original Bullet Bass, both of those basses sound great though.
That jazz certainly looks very nice and sounds great too. I'll have to go to a fortune teller to find out if there is one of these in my future.
I am not a bass player but these look killer.
Thank´s a lot !!!!!
I want 🎸😍😍
Got the ruby red jazz bass yesterday. Came with its action too low, so had to set it up. Frets are a little rough 'round the edges. Overall pretty decent and not at all bad, but I gotta say it's in the same price tier as my Sire Marcus Miller V7 and P7 basses, and they are WORLDS apart in terms of quality. So while I don't regret getting the Squier - as it's pretty cheap - if I didn't have any basses, and could only afford one at this price, I would totally go for a Sire; it's not even a competition.
Can the v7 growl the same way the fender does in this video? I researched some stuff about it after reading this and it looks like a really nice bass, although I can't really seem to hear those same satisfying dark tones in v7 demo videos, but maybe that can be adjusted using the knobs.
@@Isaac-yt3bv The V7 and P7 are active basses, with a toggle between passive and active. This gives them a much broader range of sounds. And yes they can growl.
@@LordKingKamiGuru active not resonating with p bass..unless you are in punk or trash fucking metal....so you like artificial sound? I prefer the sound of the wood and mic of my bass..plus if you were a recording man you would know that many times, most of the time indeed, active basses aren't welcome!! even Marcus Miller says it!!! that's why they sound great in active mode..but I would only said it for the V (jazz style)..the P, I wouldn't go to Sire now...they are far from the p sound, active or passive, even the P5....I recommend the V at the contrary..not the true fender jazz sound, but totally more acceptable considereing the style!
There seems to be a steady increase in Fender's prices. Looks like the "higher end" Squier is going to take the place earlier occupied by Player Series...
That said, the tone on the P-Bass sounds really good (not too different from higher end models...).
I have a classic-vibe P-bass … 2018, surf green, block inlays … it’s gorgeous & plays amazingly well after a pro set-up. Always get a pro set-up/intonation if you aren’t good at it. 🙂
But since 2019 they moved the production of Classic Vibe from GREE factory in China to factories in Indonesia, and the necks are terrible. Bad maple, bad trussrods, warping, too thin.. Don't fall in the trap, these new Squiers, SUCK.
@@bapt_andthebasses I bought an offset telecaster last year & it arrived unplayable.
@@hailmaryrecordings8255 it doesn't surprise me, they literally don't set the trussrod, the necks warp and they're damaged out of the box. Fret jobs are terrible
@@bapt_andthebasses I’m trading it in pretty soon. I’ve never touched-it.
Nicee!!! I'm definitely getting one of these. Not sure which but I gotta one. Plus I have some spare original fender pickups ready to throw on.
If I had known those were going to be released, I wouldn't have bought any other bass last year.😂
Which one did you buy?
@@prashantmalani823
I bought Classic Vibe '70s P-bass.
Of course, that one is great too, but I prefer the design of the 40th anniversary P-bass.
@@Max-Mustermann46 Oooh, those look great (love the block inlays)! Congrats on your acquisition :)
@@prashantmalani823
Thanks!
I like that one too, so maybe I just need to buy another P-bass.😁
I feel your pain!
Are those jumbo frets?
Hopefully, they will put out a video for the new Contemporary Active Precision Bass soon.
got one of the P in blk and it is very nice
Hey this dude is playing with Paramore now, that's pretty cool!
Is the intro riff something that is made up along the way? Because I would swear it sounds the same as Give The Mule What He Wants by Queens of the Stone Age
Gabor! My guy! Was thinking the exact same thing
$600 is quite alot of cash for a Squier. I do like the Red one.
Thanks for not just slapping the J
600 dollar squier the price will go up again in 6 months.
You think so ? 🤔
3:00
@Fender / Squier plz, could you tell us how many models of each base from this limited edition are made? Tancks... Ï really dig mine, the lake placid blue p bass...i use rounds ones on it and it s'great!!!
Does the hair come with the bass?
😅
Ahahahaa 😆
Any Lefties?
No. They said "fu".
😂
Would get it if there wasn’t fenders for cheaper
Made in from?
Indonesia
anyone knows why Squier p bass inlays blocks? I love it !!!
No five string?😟
How can it have a ‘70s style headstock if this is 40 year anniversary?
When you turn 40, you can celebrate with any dang headstock your heart desires.
My p bass arrived this morning. The blue one. I was a bit worried, buying a squier without testing in Shop for 500 e /600 dollars I wasn t sure. I have no job because of my health...I needed an alternative. As a jazz bass guy for two decades, I already added a Sire at my fender Ones...but for p bass,Im sorry, but Sire doesn't make it...so I would try squier.have been already upset years ago,I have to admit they really improved,finish,quality,sound...and the set up is minimal...no need to go see a guitar tech or a luthier. With my little knowledge it took me 5 min to change strings, adjust action, trus Rod was good.Im very happy and would rate it 8/10 quality/price, Maybe 9. Sire would be 9 for jb
...nothing to say just that the landscape is evolving and now the olds prejudices are no more accurate...mexican fenders are pretty good...it Will neveu ne thé custom Shop, but in the 80's even a big price instrument could be the wrong one....not saying this is perfect or not expensive enough, just saying Im glad and would gig and record with it no problem
...Isn't 50 the golden anniversary?..
4:06 which riff is it?
I don’t want to hear slap
What's the body thickness for the Jazzbass ?
Is this the guy that tours playing guitar in the live lineup with Vampire Weekend?
No left handed ;-;
Serious question. I'm going to get the satin seafoam 40th anniversary vintage edition jazz bass and was wondering what the pickup spacing was. I plan on putting a tortoise shell guard on it to make it look like a 62 seafoam geddy lee fender.
Is it 60s or 70s spacing. Which squier pickguard will fit.
Is it me or the jb kinda out of tune. Cool bass though and I play a 2000 year squier jb till now.
Lefty? No.
They look GREAT, but $600? Jeez, Louise.

I have a 69 Fender Precision w/Jazz Neck at the time custom color, Ocean Turqoise, block inlay on rosewood neck/bought at the music store I worked for in 1969. 2024 and Fender Custom Shop says "Sorry we won't touch it because you don't have a receipt"; although I do have owners manual with assembler name of "E Paxton", only Custom Shop in Colorado is HB Woodsong, Boulder. I thought Fender had control of their channel. I believe HB Woodsong is telling Fender that no receipt, no work. If they would do this to a Senior, think what they'll do to YOU. Buyer Beware.
Hmm, let's see...a ho-hum Fender Player bass or something special from Squier?
Fender is smoking something big. $600 is highway robbery for a squier bass. Ripoff
You think so? I'm planning on getting one soon. For me it's good for practice and small gigs.
Update : I just got the squier p bass (placid blue gold hardware) for me personally it's an awesome bass. I've gigged with it 4 times and gotten several compliments on tone/punch & looks. It's up there against my fender player series. I've gotten really comfortable with my new squier.
No lefty’s ..very poor

Me pueden regalar el bajo de color rojo?? :'v
P bass so boring in sound. Perfect for teenage pop bands
