••• Wire Wrapping for Beginners: Jewelry Making Tools •••
The most common question I get from readers and viewers is, "what kind of jewelry making tools do I need if I want to get started making wire wrapped jewelry?"
Well, if you're just starting out at wire wrapping, you really only need 3 tools. In this video, I go over those 3 very important tools and show you what to look for when you're choosing your pliers and cutters!
These three essential jewelry making tools are: chain nose pliers, round nose pliers, and flush cutters. Watch the video for more details!
There are many levels of jewelry tools. For beginners I recommend you start with something inexpensive and work your way up when you find your tools are wearing out quickly or they are too uncomfortable to use for a long period at a time. The more expensive ones tend to last longer and be more ergonomic, but if you're not using them a lot it may not be worth it to you to splurge. Here are several options of jewelry making tools for you at various price points:
    ECONOMY TOOLS:
    Chain nose pliers: amzn.to/19hUwdo*
    Round nose pliers: amzn.to/1MzoO7w*
    Flush cutters: amzn.to/1Cem2oB*
    HIGH QUALITY TOOLS:
    Chain nose pliers: amzn.to/18kUIHt*
    Round nose pliers: amzn.to/1DhzR5I*
    Flush cutters: amzn.to/1EIIExN *
    PREMIUM TOOLS:
    Chain nose pliers: amzn.to/1Celr6f*
    Round nose pliers: amzn.to/1Mzpvhd*
    Flush cutters: amzn.to/1BCFHMJ*

OMG...I think I love you!!! You make it sound so simple and it should be but most of us make it a lot more difficult than it truly is. I feel stupid for not having figured it out myself. I appreciate your information so much. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

I'm so glad I came across your channel! I gauged my piercings up to a 16ga, and I want to convert everything I have in smaller gauges to larger ones. I had no clue that wire-rounding tool existed! It's going to make things so much easier for my hands.

I just wanted to say thank you for making this video, and especially for the links to go buy the necessary tools. You made my life so much easier, in trying to get this started. I'm making jewelry with rocks, and gemstones, irregular and natural, and as much as I didn't want to learn wirewrapping, for some of my bails, I just see no other option! (Many gems are too soft to drill holes into, and some are just too hard. Then some are too small and fragile!) Again, so very appreciated!! 😊

emaeshka Hi, there are many different size wires you can use for wire wrapping. The most common are: .64 mm (22 gauge), .5 mm (24 gauge), and .4 mm (26 gauge). It will depend on what you are making! For more info, see this article: jewelrytutorialhq.com/all-about-jewelry-wire-which-gauge-wire-to-use-for-what/
Hope that helps! I will try to translate for you:

Hi. Where do uou get your wires x

    • @JewelryTutorialHQ
      @JewelryTutorialHQ  7 років тому +3

Hi Amanda! If you're in the US I recommend RioGrande.com for metals like sterling silver, gold filled, copper, and brass (especially in larger quantities). If you want smaller quantities or different types of wire you'll find a huge selection on Amazon.

Great tutorial BUT, to demonstrate using Tronex which are very expensive for a beginner, is a little disappointing. it would have been very helpful to suggest some cheaper alternatives for us as there are so many and its very confusing. I want good tools but at a much more reasonable price than yours shown. Cheap ones from China etc are obviously rubbish, so any recommendations would be very helpful. thankyou

Hi Chris! Thank you so much for your comment. If you will read the description below the video you will see that I have provided 3 levels of tools based on pricing, and I do clearly say in the video that you DON'T have to spend a lot of money as a beginner. I'm sorry that point wasn't clear - that was something I specifically tried to explain by detailing what you need to look for in your tools and not focusing so much on the brand.
You can also find more information about the tools I recommend here, based on their price: jewelrytutorialhq.com/essential-wire-wrapping-tools-beginners/
I hope that helps! Please let me know if I can clarify anything else for you!
