1) degass as much as you can 2) pour silicone into mold 3) put the whole thing in to vacuum AGAIN and let it sit tthere till all bubbles are out im making molds like that all the time, without a single bubble :)
Null U can also use silicone that has a long set time that is designed to allow bubbles to escape... have several modes myself with no bubbles at all! and never once used a vacuum chamber 🙂
its not recommended to do this because it can move the object you are casting and also can pull bubble under ridges in the silicone and create bubbles in thte casting that wouldnt have been there before
i agree in certain cases it can be a bad strategy. always depends on what and how you are doing. i do it all the time for my applications and i never got a bad mold. cheers.

I work with these materials daily. The trick to remove the bubbles is actually the opposite of what was done here. You need to cure the silicone under pressure 20-80 PSI. This will condense the material and the bubbles will rise to the top on their own. He doesn't have clue. I mean he has a pressure pot. That would work perfectly.
Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" may I suggest you have a look at how concrete is poured and the use of vibrators to help trapped air surface. in you case a small vibrating table. instead of the manual mixer you can use a bottom mixer at low speeds (not to create cavitations). your a lab mixing station with heather to increase viscosity, mix and allow bubbles to escape
Early on in the design phase for a manufacturing process designed to cast in urethane I used a vacuum/pressure vessel. I've actually still got one in my garage. This was designed to do exactly the kind of casting you are doing. First, the vacuum removed the bubbles from the material and went through the first part of it's process... the part you did here with your extraction. The difference being that the material was already poured around the object. Second, once the bubbles were removed, the vessel went into a pressure phase. This shrunk down any remaining bubbles in the material giving an incredibly accurate casting. This might be something you may want to consider as well.

This was designed to do exactly the kind of casting you are doing. First, the vacuum removed the bubbles from the material and went through the first part of it's process... the part you did here with your extraction. The difference being that the material was already poured around the object.
Second, once the bubbles were removed, the vessel went into a pressure phase. This shrunk down any remaining bubbles in the material giving an incredibly accurate casting.
This might be something you may want to consider as well.
