Ah finally someone who dared break the rule of simply sticking along the kick drum- that plagued many bassist! I’ve been looking for someone to take on a boring progression like this- please don’t get me wrong with the word boring (I’m referring to steady repetitive progression of chord).. it’s just that when I play this song- honestly I don’t know how to make it interesting. I’m anxious to go outside and stroll a bit. While I don’t always promote playing too many notes, I really appreciate how this guy showed the “potential” of what can be done from simple progression. Now, because of this-It expanded my idea, even though I will not play like this many notes, but I’m grateful that his playing showed all extreme avenues of bassline that can be done with this song.
Thank you for listening to my performance in detail. I was influenced a lot by Tower of Power's bassist rocoo prestia. I think the bass can move actively and express the sound even in calm songs.
