Yea, the common rooms are almost like unnecessary elements in this game. What for if we can’t even sleep on the bed or even sit on the couch? All we do to spend the night is by sleeping on the floor 😂
Only problem with this riddle: you have to know ahead of time that a poltergeist isn't a phantom of the deceased like a regular ghost. Poltergeist literally means "noisy ghost", so many would think it is just a ghost that likes to cause trouble.
@@jaybee4288in harry potter, ghosts are imprints of the souls of dead wizards while poltergeists are amortal beings who were never alive to begin with
Personally, I would't mind some tricky questions, just for fun, but it's so kind from Avalanche that they didn't destroyed the game with tougher trials. This scene is so touching 💙💙
Pretty sure it's canon though that some Ravenclaws do indeed fail to answer the riddle and get stuck outside waiting for another Ravenclaw to come along and either answer it for them or help them solve it. Also, not all Ravenclaws are good at solving riddles even if most are. This one was really easy but as a Ravenclaw I can confirm that I am terrible with riddles.
@@lynnz7501 Yep for the most part Ravenclaws can solve the riddle sometimes and it’s quite common for them to work together until someone solves it then the door opens for everyone waiting outside to get in. I don’t think it’s logical that every single Ravenclaw can solve the riddle every single time. They’re people so sometimes they fail.
As a Ravenclaw of many years, who is absolutely *abysmal* when it comes to riddle solving, it has been my long held belief that I would never be able to get into my Commonroom without help. I'd be that sad student who is just sitting by the door, re-evaluating my life, and waiting for a fellow Ravenclaw to come save me. I'd be the one obsessing over my schedule and organizing it to Hell and back, just so I can fugure out how to avoid the door as much as possible. Whenever people see me studying, it'll actually be me going over said schedule, or looking up answers to as many riddles as possible... I would get no proper schoolwork done. My life would revolve around my frustrations of interacting with this door.
@@LordTalax What part of that makes me a poor Ravenclaw? You do realize that not all Ravenclaws are the same, right? You do know that not all Ravenclaws are genius book nerds who know the answer to every question and riddle, correct? What makes a Ravenclaw isn't intelligence. It's a strong love for learning. (What you want to learn could be anything.) Just because I royally suck at riddles doesn't mean I don't love to learn. I very much *do* love learning. I don't need to be a riddlemaster to prove myself a true Raveclaw. That's just ridiculous.
@silversamurai0267 plus the sorting hat could've put a person in ravenclaw due to them love learning but not intelligent enough like a stereotypical ravenclaw so that it'll challenge them to learn more and help them become more intelligent and being around those who are will help the student become more intelligent. though that's just a guess in my part anyways I'm a hufflepuff not a ravenclaw so honestly I don't know lol
@@BooksInTheVoid That wouldn't aways be possible. There will undoubtedly be times when I need in, but there are no other Ravenclaws around. Certainly, if we're all walking back after eating dinner then I don't have to worry. But what if I left something in the dorm as we're om our way to classes? I could ask a friend to help, but then we'll both be late. That's if I even manage to make friends. I'm an anti-social introvert. Odds are I won't have anyone to ask. And knowing my luck, whenever I need into the dorm will almost always be when no one else is going in. I'm really not joking when I say that this door would be my undoing.
As fellow Ravenclaw - every time getting back to common room would be as stressful as exams, but if you won't pass you sleep on the floor 😂 I would carry spare pillow and blanket for that exact reason 😅
The funny thing is there aren’t exact answers to any riddles the eagle speaks, just as long as the student uses their mind and wit to come up with any answer to the question. I’d have said a ghost because they were once a living being and a poltergeist is the essence of a place, not actually alive.
Thank Christ I found a comment that made this riddle make sense. I was thinking "non-being" meant it didn't exist but ghosts and poltergeists both exist in this universe and it was frustrating
Honestly,I’m a Ravenclaw and I didn’t like the answer either. A poltergeist is amortal so has never “lived” in the mortal sense of the word. So that kind of makes sense. but a ghost is the imprint of a soul that at one point did very much exist. So I would have said the ghost “lived” longer. But I’m a chronic over thinker so maybe that’s my problem.
Growing up, I always thought of myself as being in ravenclaw since I’m the studious, good grades type. But every single time I have ever taken a sorting quiz, it put me in slytherin… even when I fudged my answers to try to make it put me in ravenclaw. Gee, not sure why it thinks I’m a slytherin 😂
I'm the same. Had good grades in high school and graduated college with honors so I thought Ravenclaw would be my house but turned out I was also Slytherin.
I thought the same too. Esp when I did Pottermore. When I looked back on the way I answered the questions, I was thinking more on a cunning level than a "smart" level. Then it all made sense. Whenever I play a game and I'm Slytherin, I'm ultra nice and helpful to people. I'm buttering them up so if I need something, I can either throw it back in their face I helped them out or they just think I'm a sweetie and want to help me cause of that. 😇😇. Using my cunning and ambition in creative, fun ways.
When I started playing the Hogwarts legacy and my character received an acceptance letter to the school which was signed off as "Pr. Weasley" my first reaction was like "did Ron become a professor?" 😲 But soon after, as I dived into the game, I realised that my character was like in the 19th century, so no chance for Ron to be a professor, unfortunately 😅
Yeah, the Weasley's are actually pureblood wizards and witches until Ron and Hermione. They just weren't dicks about it like the Malfoys or Blacks. I mean Bellatrix disowned her whole sisters side of the family just cuz she fell in love with a muggle lol, even tried to kill her niece.
So, I hardly EVER replay video games (unless it's been like 5+ years) - but with that being said - Hogwarts Legacy is SUCH A GOOD GAME, that I would be willing to replay it as a different house.
This is so much fun but then again just imagine you're so tired, just want to go to sleep and the door asked "What question can never be answered with a Yes?"
I have no clue why a riddler can be a good option to keep safe your room. Literally everyone in each house has brilliant minds, who can do the same (for example Hermione) , so bad idea. The safest password is Hufflepuff because you have to follow a sequence in the correct knock, which you don't know, and if you miss the first time you will be doused in Vinegar, something really fucked up. Griffyndoor and Slytherin are fine as well. Ironically the most intelligent house founder screwed up badly here.
I'll just fly to one of the windows using brooms. 🤣🤣 As they say "work smart not hard" I'm not wasting time answering riddles and what not knowing I could get it wrong. And wait for godly hours to someone answer it for me🤣😅
The riddle is open to interpretation. Take Peeves the Poltergeist. It could be argued he's "living" by always playing pranks on the students, therefore qualifying as a correct answer. It could mean emotionally living instead of physically living
In the harry potter universe "Ghosts" arent actually souls of dead humans but imprints of people who have lived. So they never technically lived and are classified as "Non beings" same as poltergeists or boggarts. I'll admit its confusing if you dont know that is the distinction. Because the mc gives the correct answer which is neither.
See, I thought it was the Poltergeist because the peeves the Poltergeist is made up of the living Energies of teenagers according to lore, and ghosts are dead. So a ghost is dead while a poltergeist continues to live
Imagine forgetting something after walking out and realizing you gotta solve another fkin riddle to go back in.

Cause you are the one supposed to be Ravenclaw
Imagine being a ravenclaw everytime you want to get back to your common room you have to solve a riddle yup that's pain.
Imagine if the game needed the player to enter the correct answer by text or voice recognition... and if the player never got it they just spent the year sleeping in the corridor and being mocked by the other Ravenclaws.
Actually don’t think you would be the Only Ravenclaw sleeping or wondering the castle at night
I really wish they did more with the common room, even if it forced you to occasionally return to sleep as part of the main quest line. Even just to meet up with your fellow house mates and muck around would help flesh things out immensely
Imagine how stuck Neville would have been if he had been put into Ravenclaw. XD
I'd have thought the ghost because he used to be a human so he lived, while a poltergeist never did
That is the correct answer, ghost.
The ghost itself never lived. The human did but the ghost didn’t.
Bro I would straight up argue with that door because that was the easiest shit I’ve ever heard. I’d be like “shut the door because I’ve had riddles on popsicle sticks harder than that.”
Haha 😂😂😂
“A non-being can never have been.”
Door: I’m sorry, we were looking for “Ghost” or “Poltergeist.”
I remember a fanfiction I read where it was discovered that Ravenclaw was a fan of dirty jokes and riddles lol.
Since I'm a Slytherin I'm fighting the urge to yell "NERD!"
😂😂
How a ghost could never have been?
Before being ghost some were human, didn't they?
The dialogue is confusing, she is saying the answer ISNT a poltergeist, since it never has been, thus making the answer ghost. I think.
a poltergeist has never been a human, the ghost has, therefore, what she said
@@DarkXenoGaming yes the dialogue is so confusing...
Don’t worry guys, you yourself doesn’t need to answer the character just does ut itself and when you walk in an out you walk in an out, you dont need to answer any riddle or at least i havent had to.
Ghosts by definition were once alive
Poltergeist had always been as themselves
They were never alive
While a Poltergeist may have existed longer than a Ghost that was once mortal, only a Ghost was once alive, which is the answer to the Riddle
Professor Weasley, headmaster of gryffindor: I won't be of much help.
Professor McGonagall, headmaster of gryffindor: pathetic.
I really wish that they put riddles depending on the difficulty that the player chose to make it more interesting.
That would be fun!
I just finished this game as a chosen Ravenclaw...loved every second...now I'm suffering from post game heartache 😢
What’s the name of the game called? The one I downloaded is definitely from the one that I’ve been seeing all over
start another playthrough and this time, be a bad guy 🤭
That’s why there are four slots. Make new saves, pick different houses, KILL THOSE WHO STAND IN YOUR WAY!!! *coughs* sorry I had a frog in my through. I meant to say “pick different conversation options. KEEP ZENOBIAS GOBSTONES AND GRACE PINCH-SMEDDLY’S ASTRO THINGY!!! MAKE PEOPLE PAY TO GET THEIR SH*T BACK!!!
The post game is so boring. And I don’t think I can restart the story by becoming another house student
what people don't know is that you don't need to say a password after the intro cutscene. after that it's simple as walking up to the door an it opens. people were like "oh I'm not joining Ravenclaw because I don't want to answer a riddle every time"
I'm Hufflepuff, and thought I had to knock on the correct barrel again, only for the door to pop open whenever I walked by. 😅 Plus there's rarely a reason to enter the common room except for the rare quest or puzzle.
I was a little disappointed in that but I know why they did it. But if they had made the mascot a raven I would have restarted
Yea, the common rooms are almost like unnecessary elements in this game. What for if we can’t even sleep on the bed or even sit on the couch? All we do to spend the night is by sleeping on the floor 😂
I choose my house because my favorite color is green, I keep things simple.
we all know that a true Ravenclaw would have just left the window open so they would have to do all of this.
Only problem with this riddle: you have to know ahead of time that a poltergeist isn't a phantom of the deceased like a regular ghost. Poltergeist literally means "noisy ghost", so many would think it is just a ghost that likes to cause trouble.
I think the answer is neither. The ghost never lived.
@@jaybee4288in harry potter, ghosts are imprints of the souls of dead wizards while poltergeists are amortal beings who were never alive to begin with
Ravenclaw has the worst password. Any intelligent student could get in, and any idiot locked out.
Personally, I would't mind some tricky questions, just for fun, but it's so kind from Avalanche that they didn't destroyed the game with tougher trials.
This scene is so touching 💙💙
Most inclusive house in Hogwarts: it has a smoker’s balcony.
What shea saying is a poltergeist was never even human ita simply psychic energy given physical form so the ghost lived longer
That's how I interpret it as well
Just because it wasn't human doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
@@GeorgeMonet no, poltergeists are phenomena that exist spontaneously, before being poltergeists they were nothing
Hermione probably dreams about common room riddles. ☠️
This professor is so sweet
It's Mrs.Patmore from Downton Abbey!
@@tai9801 thank you
Honestly if you can’t solve the riddle then the hat wouldn’t put you in Ravenclaw 😂
@@lynnz7501 That sounds horrible xD
Pretty poor Ravenclaw then aren't you
@@LordTalax What part of that makes me a poor Ravenclaw?
Or. you could walk to the common room with other Ravenclaws. Work smarter not harder.
I suspect that the idea is that ghosts were once living, but poltergeists are a different sentient ethereal entity.
Yup 👍
I instantly panicked at this point cause I’m so shit with riddles 😂 I thought they were gonna make us answer
Same!!
As someone from raven claw, brain power does not mean puzzle power, *Open the goddam door*
As fellow Ravenclaw - every time getting back to common room would be as stressful as exams, but if you won't pass you sleep on the floor 😂
I would carry spare pillow and blanket for that exact reason 😅
The funny thing is there aren’t exact answers to any riddles the eagle speaks, just as long as the student uses their mind and wit to come up with any answer to the question. I’d have said a ghost because they were once a living being and a poltergeist is the essence of a place, not actually alive.
This is why I’m Ravenclaw. I know poltergeist’s are amortal (being they never lived or died) so the obvious answer was ghosts 😂
Imagine being tired asf and you have to solve a riddle😂
Growing up, I always thought of myself as being in ravenclaw since I’m the studious, good grades type. But every single time I have ever taken a sorting quiz, it put me in slytherin… even when I fudged my answers to try to make it put me in ravenclaw. Gee, not sure why it thinks I’m a slytherin 😂
I'm the same. Had good grades in high school and graduated college with honors so I thought Ravenclaw would be my house but turned out I was also Slytherin.
I think you’re just very ambitious ig?
I thought the same too. Esp when I did Pottermore. When I looked back on the way I answered the questions, I was thinking more on a cunning level than a "smart" level. Then it all made sense. Whenever I play a game and I'm Slytherin, I'm ultra nice and helpful to people. I'm buttering them up so if I need something, I can either throw it back in their face I helped them out or they just think I'm a sweetie and want to help me cause of that. 😇😇. Using my cunning and ambition in creative, fun ways.
The way I instantly said "Ghost"-- and regretted it....i won't stand an hour in that dorm
Just Bombarda Maxima the door
"Just because I'm smart doesn't mean I can solve riddles"
- A Ravenclaw
Just imagine hearing people screaming at the door to be let in cause they’re tired while you’re trying to go to sleep 😂
I gotta say a riddle is the dumbest security feature since anyone could solve it. Like there are clever people in the other houses.
When I started playing the Hogwarts legacy and my character received an acceptance letter to the school which was signed off as "Pr. Weasley" my first reaction was like "did Ron become a professor?" 😲
But soon after, as I dived into the game, I realised that my character was like in the 19th century, so no chance for Ron to be a professor, unfortunately 😅
This story is 100 years ago before Harry or Ron came to Hogwarts or born.
@@tubebammy She ultimately did kill her niece.
@@katherine6326 you’re right. I forgot she ultimately did succeed
Teacher: Quick it's an emergency! We gotta get in!
Student: Ah crap I don't know the riddle-

So, I hardly EVER replay video games (unless it's been like 5+ years) - but with that being said - Hogwarts Legacy is SUCH A GOOD GAME, that I would be willing to replay it as a different house.
The Ravenclaw common room's a fkn sidequest dawg, if you get it wrong, you're cooked💀

Imagine just trying to get your notebook and the door gave you a lengthy number sequence. 😄✌️
This is so much fun but then again just imagine you're so tired, just want to go to sleep and the door asked "What question can never be answered with a Yes?"
Easy. Are you sleeping or Are you dead? - I'm Slytherin.
@@narakukagiwaki904 ahahaha correct, the answer itself will annoyed me when I'm so sleepy
This is why your boy wasn't a ravenclaw lol xD
This clip made me realize that being a ravenclaw sounds bloody draining
Too much brain power needed
I have no clue why a riddler can be a good option to keep safe your room. Literally everyone in each house has brilliant minds, who can do the same (for example Hermione) , so bad idea. The safest password is Hufflepuff because you have to follow a sequence in the correct knock, which you don't know, and if you miss the first time you will be doused in Vinegar, something really fucked up. Griffyndoor and Slytherin are fine as well. Ironically the most intelligent house founder screwed up badly here.
I feel like Ron Weasley would be sleeping outside
Only Ravenclaws can pass this "If the fish flew to the shopping mall, what color does music taste like?"
One
That riddle made no sense as a ghost was and has been and therefore still is the same as a poltergeist.
I believe her answer was ghost, saying that a Poltergeist had never been (i.e. never lived) and therefore the answer is ghost. Stupid. I know.
The Ravenclaw common room can be found by the first years sleeping in front of the door
I'll just fly to one of the windows using brooms. 🤣🤣
As they say "work smart not hard" I'm not wasting time answering riddles and what not knowing I could get it wrong. And wait for godly hours to someone answer it for me🤣😅
i love how she didn't actually answer the riddle. she just made an observation that didn't truly answer the riddle
What a stupid answer.
I was thinking it was a question on actual ghost lore, not a nonsensical puzzle answer.
Theres this one legendary ravenclaw who always answered with some variation of 'not a potato' and only got it wrong once in all their seven years
The riddle is open to interpretation. Take Peeves the Poltergeist. It could be argued he's "living" by always playing pranks on the students, therefore qualifying as a correct answer. It could mean emotionally living instead of physically living
That is one way to look at it for sure 👍
"I want my pc to look as much like Professor Weaselly as possible"
She could have just said "ghost" rather than explaining why. She's thinking harder not smarter or is that Ravenclaws thing?
100% agree
In the harry potter universe "Ghosts" arent actually souls of dead humans but imprints of people who have lived. So they never technically lived and are classified as "Non beings" same as poltergeists or boggarts. I'll admit its confusing if you dont know that is the distinction. Because the mc gives the correct answer which is neither.
It confounds her bc she's a gryffindor. Not the brightest bunch. 😅 Ravenclaw all day baby!!
See, I thought it was the Poltergeist because the peeves the Poltergeist is made up of the living Energies of teenagers according to lore, and ghosts are dead. So a ghost is dead while a poltergeist continues to live
Haven't heard that one before (and there's been like 3000 comments on it on my TikTok video of it). Good thought! 👍
But she said lived past tense...a ghost had lived a life before, a poltergiest has never been alive in the scientific sense of the word.
@@vianjelos that is how I understood it as well
