When music is “birthed” like this, organic and raw in the moment, it is the most incredible experience!!! Thank you to musicians like Dr K to impact young lives like this!!
@@bigbang259 I have been present in situations where the musical improvisation skills of some people are off the charts. I know music well enough to know how it’s done (and see the techniques in this video). I don’t think it’s rehearsed as much as one might think. When musical improv is a skill one practices & develops, it is easily translated to many experiences and encounters. And it can be done, to this level, without rehearsal.
@@pneumanaut1 I agree. They are probably so rehearsed in what they are going to play for their event that I’m sure it was amazing. Poor kids were probably suffering from jet lag.😮😮🥴🥴🥱🥱🥱😴😴😴🤫🤫🤫
90% of life is showing up. Kudos to the violin player who took a seat at the keys, to that tenor player who stepped up and to the trumpeter. It's a simple chord projection. Riffing off that is only hard if you make it hard.
The kids were great. The first kid with the violin & then the piano was great. He just jumped in. The other two kids with the sax and trumpet were brave to jump in also. Good on them all.
Love seeing Dr K encourage youth. Improv is the most difficult of skills to learn, but you've managed to bring them out of their shells and started them down that path.
1st kid - i love to see how its actually working in his brain ) well done, boy... the boy on the piano is just outstandingly good understanding music - gobsmacking talent - and the kid on the saxophone - proud to have you heared - boy on trompet - natural instincted good )) u all gonna be great ... and all that cus a single guy is sitting in a station - thank you
I always like how Dr. K will see someone walking by with a musical instrument & immediately say "Hey, come over here and play with me"! This time he got an entire orchestra! The power of Music to bring people together is a magical thing!!
Out of all those kids just the young violinist stepped up ....I think it made the sax come alive ❗good vibes in the station thanks to you Dr. K ...🎼🎶🎹😎🤗😘❤🇨🇦....good times are happy times when music is involved🎹🎹🎹😎
They all act kind of giddy and shy. But the boy with the violin, he has the guts to to the piano too - he will go far. And the guys with the alt sax and the trumpet - improvising and finding their way towards some fine blues - too!

@@kevinheard8364 thank you. It's such a wonderful experience for these young people. I hope they never forget it. Dr. K is so great at putting them at ease. He is very gifted and such a kind person.
Wonderful Brendan encouraging these young players And what bravery those 3 young men showed just playing randomly like that on the spot Future Glenn Miller band Jazz men .
This is my favorite mode of music. Forever popular. Forever denied. They came home with boogie woogie in their hearts. They were shy; then let it go. It is still with us. Thanks great Grandpa.
This is what music is all about. Having fun and bringing joy to those around you and yourself. Who cares how polished it is at the moment, kudos to all those kids and Dr. K, how cool was that?
That was wonderful that some of the upcoming musicians played along with you. I think that they will remember this day for years to come. Well done Dr. K as always.
Dr. K the expression on your face as the young gentleman plays is great in amazement and happiness at the inpromtue music , as always it's the wonderfuly best there always is. Godspeed...
What a treat! Never expected an orchestra, and loved every minute of it. Kudos to you, Dr K, for encouraging those young musicians to join you. You are a gift to the youth all over the world to play music. Keep those magic fingers of yours jamming!
Brought me to tears!! My daughter used to play this on the piano❤️❤️ it always make me tear up whenever I hear it!! I wish she would come over and play it again 🎹 ❤️ thank you
I can see that these students put in their practice time! What an experience for them all. The ones who jumped in must have been flying high on their train ride! Hopefully the others are now determined to jump in should another opportunity arise!
I had the fortunate opportunity to travel with a group called Musical Youth Internationa, MYI, way back in 1968, to Cichen Itza, Mexico. I was not a part of the group. They performed a concert in one of the areas that was once thought to be sport coliseum. It was an evening performance, and it was magical! Beautiful!! I will always cherish my few days at Chichen Itza. MYI went on to wherever, and I and my fellow Boy Scouts went to British Honduras (now Belize) where we spent the summer living with host families and soaking up the local culture. Lest you downplay this summer holiday, one of us returned to attend the Military Academy at West Point. Lol, not me, Jay Oakley, great guy. I returned and joined the Navy, and retired in 1989. EOS!
That’s exactly right on! Teach them Dr.K . Mistakes is where it at. Where do you get that big band these days! The more the better, 4 saxes 3 trumpets , and everyone else! Oh! Please
Just watched 5 or 6 of your vids and this is my favorite. The interaction w a younger generation, watching them slowly warm to the experience and shyly come forward, seeing them learn the rhythm in real time. Precious!

It sounded like the kids had fun. The young violinist on the keyboard was pretty good at improvising.🤩
And here's me aged 81 and with flu dancing around the kitchen.
