Back on the Road! Exploring Cooktown!

- After 4 months working in Weipa we are threatened with a weeks worth of rain to kick off the wet season in FNQ! Not wanting to become stuck in cape York we pack up and hit the road, racing to Cooktown with no real plan! When in Cooktown we take a walk down the foreshore and follow the history of this town, before heading into Cooktown’s spectacular Botanical Gardens which is a must see and a credit to this town!

this is a great little tour ! can't believe you guys saw Simon ! really enjoyed listening to and hearing all the background bird wildlife calls . reminds me of tropical rainforest jungle!

Cooktown is such a lovely place for such a small town. We were only just there over a week ago. Some nice places to visit just out of town too. Have fun guy’s

Hi, Just wanted to ask how do you secure your camper when you go off for the day as we have a similar camper and looking at security options, thanks
We have an unusual tow hitch that we can slip a bike lock through and then just lock it. But all our valuables are with us 24/7 with a safe bolted in car. Also if it doesn’t feel/look safe we won’t leave it as it’s quick enough to setup and pull down
Saying that we’ve never had any problems, and it’s not that often we leave our van behind
I think next time we are in Cooktown we might have a fair bit more of a look! Thanks Jack, well done!

@@JS_Adventure worth it, I reckon. Last time we just kinda blew in, had a wee look around, tried to find someone to grind our coffee beans(someone left our grinder 900 odd k's south.........me), had a beer in that magnificent pub and then bolted north! Didn't even know there was a botanic gardens! What a beauty! Top stuff man!
🤣🤣 Cheers mate!! We had heard a lot of hit and miss stories but we could’ve easily spent a day at the foreshore, a day at the gardens, a day fishing creeks and so on! I love to check out what these small towns offer and am generally surprised with most towns effort into tourism!
