    Given that I am one of the three people you know who've been rear ended whilst on a motorcycle, I was more than interested in this post! The units you suggest are currently unavailable but I found a very similar pack of two units on amazon UK for a total cost of fifteen pounds so I ordered a pack fo my Harley Super Glide Sport. They should be here today and I'm really looking forward to fitting one and trying it out! Great tip (as usual!) Adrian, thanks very much

      @@YouMotorcycle Just an update for you Adrian. As you know, I had a bit of bother with the indicator LED units, solved now, but the flashing brake light has been a resounding success in the fight against tailgating car drivers and more importantly, a quick squeeze on the brake lever whilst stopped at a red traffic light has seen the rearward approaching car brake MUCH earlier! I smile as I watch them in the mirror realizing their perceptual error as they stop a good way back from my rear fender, then creep sheepishly closer to a now gentle stop behind me! Not changing back to filament bulbs any time soon! Thanks again for another brilliant post on a very important subject!

  • @YouMotorcycle

    I think the original bulb might be a bit brighter in one spot overall, because the LEDs are pointed in all directions, however they still cast good light and they definitely draw a lot more attention when you're slowing down. If you're interested, check them out here: amzn.to/3JWLCmM

      It's funny, I really think that 2005-2014 was probably favorite decade for motorcycles. A lot of the stuff before then still had carburetors and I just don't care to deal with that, but a lot of the stuff afterwards is just a little too techy for me and we end up in situations like you have with your Indian. Human nature to be never satisfied I guess, right? 😂

    Interesting gizmo. I'm guessing it flashes every time you use any brake. Probably will help getting the attention of some.
    Then again, it might get quite annoying for drivers when you're filtering and using the rear brake to help with slow manoeuvres.
    Unfortunately we always have to account for the distracted road users.

    Is a flashing red brake light legal in Ontario, Canada ? I think it contravenes the Highway Traffic Act regulations - flashing red lights on emergency vehicles only.

    • @YouMotorcycle
      @YouMotorcycle  Рік тому

      I looked it up around the time I made the video. I think basically HTA mentions something about how long the light can be flashing and because this isn't a continuous flushing but just a few fast flashes over a small period of time and then it goes solid immediately after, it's ok, because the flashing time does not exceed HTA's time limit. You should look it up and then compare it to whatever flashing brake light you want to buy to make sure the time is ok before taking it on road if that's a concern. I'm at 8k km in two different countries with this brake light and all good so far.

    • @mikeo3818
      @mikeo3818 Рік тому

      @@YouMotorcycle Thanks for your quick reply. However, I can’t find any exceptions for the duration of the flashing red light. HTA states in Part VI Equipment, Lamps, Clause 62, section 14, “Intermittent red light restricted
      (14) Subject to subsections (14.1), (15) and (17.1), no person shall use a lamp, other than turning signal lamps or the vehicular hazard warning signal lamps commonly known as four way flashers, that produces intermittent flashes of red light. 2017, c. 2, Sched. 17, s. 5.”

    I would honestly change those led bulbs. Those are not well made and they very very hot.
    Even though it has a strobe light that’s a good one but, they are not bright enough.
    I would switch from those, to sylvania zevo led red brake light bulbs. Those are brighter and it replicates from brake to not as the incandescent bulbs. And gives a much dramatic strong red better.

    • @YouMotorcycle
      @YouMotorcycle  Рік тому +1

      Did you try these exact LEDs that I link to?? Your experience seems very different from mine. Mine don't run hot at all, and so far I've put almost 10,000 km on them without any problems. I trusted them enough that when I shipped my motorcycle from Canada to Italy to ride across Italy for a month, I left this LED bulb in. I'm very happy with it.

    • @toyotabrony
      @toyotabrony Рік тому

      @@YouMotorcycle the reason why is that I don’t go for cheap quality led bulbs. Excuse my language but any led bulbs with a fancy look but not heat dissipation in mind is jot good for me.
      The reason I said about the sylvania zevo are the best rolled bulb replacement, that is a hair brighter than stock at daylight and couple hairs brighter than stock at night.
      The heat management are excellent, the quality is there hence it has a lifetime warranty. With 0.4 watts fim function to 1.5 watt bright function. These are the go to led bulb replacement. But it depends on ur vehicle’s application, how’s ur tail light housing design is. Would a two sided reverse type led bulbs work on ur vehicle? It works well with 7443R brake light bulbs on my 2015 lifted Scion xB. And it works very well.
      And no I did not use the link u did.
