Hey can you do a video without Jets, and Rockets.... WW2 style
ua-cam.com/play/PL3kOAM2N1YJenCUzrhW4VTw_m_50xeYbQ.html
Because ww2 didn't have jets and rockets...
Yes pls.. Allied vs Axis.. battlrships vs battleships pls.. Imagine Yamato and Musashi alongside Bismark and Tirpitz vs the 4 iowas..
@@appa609 The germans designed a jet fighter aircraft which was used near the end of the war. Also there were rockets used by aircraft, but they just randomly fired in the direction of launch and didn’t have any tracking capabilities.
@@appa609 yes the Germans were also the first to use jet fighters, for example the Me 262 a Jet Fighter twin engine, also the Germans used rockets like the V1 and V2 tough they weren't as accurate and had no Tracker, the most "Tracker" like thing you can get is the Fritz X Bomb wich was a "Smart Bomb" you could do small flight adjustments to from the dropper itself
As a former US Naval Officer, I am really enjoying the heck out of these fantasy battles! Keep up the great work here Cap! As for realism: Let's just say, they are fun and exciting to watch;) I only whish when I was serving, we had computer power like today to flesh out all possible battle scenarios we could dream up so we could learn and improve from.
I told the Deck Bos'n of the Stennis at the time I was in, why don't we Drill (GQ) the 'Sum of all Fears' idea? We did!! lol it was EPIC!! I was assigned to 7 Alpha needless to say, I played part in a mass casualties. What a time that was. Now Im asking.. where did the time go?! o.0
@@yeoldesaltydog7415 I was on CVN 65 we hosted CAW3 and carriers can accommodate a maximum of 130 F/A-18 Hornets[37] or 85-90 aircraft of different types, but current numbers are typically 64 aircraft he always makes the airpower WAY under what they carry.
Back in 2005 - we were playing around using Dangerous Waters for exploring tactics in the RN. I think COLD WATERS is on Steam and its good fun to play with.
@@simking01 It’s also unrealistic and a sense that returning aircraft would be reloaded and re-launched for an attack on the Russian fleet. And I think it’s interesting that they chose the FAA teens for ship attack and the F 35’s for air defense when in real life it would be opposite.
You misspelled the word 'wish', former US Naval Officer.
Speaking as a United States veteran who still wears the uniform, I have *zero* problem with Grim Reapers wargaming against the U.S. carrier group. Honestly, the fact that so few scenarios can successfully neutralize the U.S. carrier group (the WW2 battleship supergroup was one of the most fascinating Grim Reapers did to date) ought to be encouraging, versus discouraging.
Of course, the game plays out as the AI dictates, so it's not a perfect sandtable exercise. But it's still interesting viewing. I admit I am surprised people are unhappy with the various iterations? Again, most of the time the group wins. And it's not like any potential real-world adversaries aren't doing these kinds of sandtable exercises already. Grim Reapers isn't giving away any secrets.
Keep up the good work, Grim Reapers! Been enjoying your channel.
Yeah I don't understand why people would even be offended... It's a simulation and not a very good one at that.
The simulated war scenarios the real US has done against high end threats like china have resulted in massive losses. People don't seem to realize that stuff like this is necessary.
People need a reason to be outraged! These are literally 1s and 0s. Plus it’s pretty cool the amount of respect our military gets. Deservedly so!
Ditto
Honestly... it's pride...pure and simple.
F35 cost billions of dollars...and can get shot down, crash, ect..what a waste of money...A carrier battle group is around a Trillion...it better flipping never sink or it's a waste of money!...These are the same folks who will spend a thousand dollars on spinning hub caps but complain that the oil change costs $100.
US Marine Vet and feel the same. 🇺🇸
We need war games to gain experience and knowledge where we need improvement.
They can be polished and sharp marching in parades and drilling but can they fight. 🇺🇸
Every time the US and Russian fleets face off, it is absolutely terrifying and fascinating.
Also, I think the best thing about these videos is Cap's narration, hands down.
Cap is a wanker. He thinks the earth has curvature. And that they allow for that
A few big points missing heck just maintenance. russian war ships are dangerous to even be near. these simulations leave out many real world realitys
Anyone else have a feeling they need to update this sim after Ukraine war. These simulations based on stat sheets just can not capture how far behind Russia really is on the technology side
Not a bad idea since the Moskva is now an aquarium.
News= American propaganda 🤡
Good bye moskva. Enjoy the bottom of the sea.
Yes, russia is always being shown better than they are, especially their supposedly high tech SAMs. While they have failed several times already. Ukraine would have killed another frigate now too "Makarov".
@LibtardsStillCantSilence Me21 Haha, I see. Hopefully they do work for Ukraine tho cuz that's the long range sams they're using too.
Using the F35 platform in this manner is like taking a longbow and using it like a sword and then making a judgment on its capabilities.
I dont think mods are valid anyway
Everything important about F35’s is classified so the sim will never be right. We just have to assume
The game didn't do justice to the F35 lol, even in this close combat I'm sure F35 would do better than what's being shown here, with it's modern warfare & radar capabilities. No way they would be picked out of the sky like it was shown here. Also the training US pilots get is the best, much better & intensive than russian.
makes me miss f4 and f14
loved those jolly roger phantoms.
@LibtardsStillCantSilence Me21 Close combat/dogfights, yes. But there are a lot more F35 now than F22..
Lmfao dude, people are getting offended over us ships getting attacked? Seriously?? Bro thank you for making this video!
This has been mentioned before but I think it deserves more attention. Having AI controlled ships without at least some basic naval maneuvers to avoid incoming ordinance would make all of these scenarios more realistic. Sailing directly through each other’s fleet is 1600s naval doctrine. I know this is a limitation of DCS but it just doesn’t make sense. That and AI aircraft not able to reload and repeat their assigned task essentially neuters an aircraft carrier. Again, AI issue. Maybe it’s time for the US to requisition one of the Iowa class museum ships to protect the carrier group. :)
Kuznetzov: Oh no they destroyed all our air assets! Anyways I started BRRRTTTTTTTT BRRRTTTTTT!!!!
The spectacle i am happy to watch from my Internet-Admiral chair.
same
I'm confused. You said 2 of the US ships have 400 missiles. The ran out of missiles before firing a quarter of that. Then the Russian ship who supposedly have far fewer missiles continue to output missiles through out.
I served on the USS Abraham Lincoln(Aircraft Carrier) and these F-35s are not visible to the ship radars of other Navy ships, this DCS must have limitations when compared to its IRL counterpart.
Unless it’s raining or they’ve activated their own radar
F-16’s are better than Flankers to my knowledge and the F-35 mops them in exercises I’ve read about
@@GuinessOriginal F35 can be stealth and still use its radar

I got recently introduced to the DCS, first I watched dog fights and now I came across these war games, man these are fantastic. I’m loving these games, I always wondered how the naval battles happen with these advanced machines, now I can’t stop watching these. Huge thanks to you Grim for all the efforts. Keep up the good work 👏👏👏. Please don’t stop making these. Started following you on twitch, will stop by there 👍.
I’m eagerly waiting for the day to get my hands on DCS.
I absolutely love these fleet vs fleet!
Next time put all the carriers in the world on the board, then team leaders pick their ships for their team and go head to head
You mean carrier vs. carrier knife fight? That's basicly Kuznetsov (and its Chinese copy) slaugtering everything else, because they actually have weapons that can hurt ship-size targets (as seen in this vid). Other carriers are just floating plane hangars with a few peashooters.
Now if its with planes - that's different.
One thing, DCS don't have new//modern weapon systems (among other things on Russian side) all what we have here is from 70's/80's/90's. + the AI is dumb as f* in everything.. Yes, it's a lot of fun, but is this all "accurate" !? Noooop
Dodgeball team picking but with carriers instead. Lol.
Thanks so much for the improved cinematography (I have to say again). Its so much more enjoyable to watch than previously when we are always in the map screen~
cant wait for somone to make a mod with the new russian frigate with hypersonic missile so GR can do this again. maybe even swap out those age old grandpa AK-630 for the modern kashtan family for more BRRRRT in the end. An amazing and unexpected result, cheers~!!
I can imagine chiki breki Russians on the decks of the ships firing RPGs At this point
@@alsa3ka166 i expected they would be sunbathing like thhat time they almost rammed an american ship
@@Noon69 almost?
Then I hope the new CIWS (Helios laser system) is implemented on the Arley burkes to! :)
military developments are coming faster than they can be added to dcs lol. i think some US destroyers now are replacing their CWIS with lasers
Technically the s300 and the Buk in their naval versions sams can be used as antiship missiles
cool
As well as the late sm-2s and sm-6s
The Standards on the American ships can be used as anti-ship missiles as well.
Yes I know that but I supose that most of the people know that
I really love the simulations but I find it hard to believe that the harpoons would go 0 for 80. It would be interesting to look at the algorithm
I've seen too many of these simulations where overwhelmingly the US missles are inferior to the Russians and Chinese. Sometimes it's subtle and believeable, other times it is like this and clearly biased. I'll admit the Russians and Chinese do have plenty of good technology, but when a completely non-stealth 90's tech Mig dodges multiple missles while the F-35s go down with a sneeze it just gets to be silly.
I feel that it's kind of weird that the jets don't rearm and take-off again. also the F-35 don't go in with stealth, which also could hurt them in their survivability.
It's very weird, but that's a limit in the game. AI jets apparently don't refuel and rearm and resume mission. And since that's kind of the central philosophy of US carrier tactics, the results we see in a DCS simulation are not going to be anywhere close to what would take place in reality.
And the F-35s are kind of a weird situation. If you want to fly them stealthy, you can only carry what will fit in their internal missile bays...which cuts your offensive capability with them down to about a quarter, if I remember correctly (3 wing pylons per side plus the internal bay). So, you go in stealthy but unable to shoot much, or you go in armed to the teeth and guns blazing, because the moment you mount those wing pylons (which, apparently, are coded as part of the mod, from what Cap said at the start of the video), you've compromised your stealth advantage. If you're stuck with the pylons anyway, you just as well use them to turn each bird into a missile truck. The dumb thing was, the AI wasn't smart enough to stay out of SAM range of the Russian ships...
Are the jets even firing anti-ship missiles in this?
@@AllTradesGeorge Maybe there's a mod for it. Lots of games have modding communities.
@@override367 the F-18s were equipped with antiship missiles. The AI didn't even have them defend themselves from air attacks because they were set to be on antiship missions so a bunch of them just let themselves get shot down. Kinda ridiculous, but what can you do?
F35 can carry 4 AAM internally
Imagine being upset seeing virtual US ships being shot at… seriously
United states of snowflakes
I get upset when the digital avatars wearing my sports team’s virtual uniforms lose a game, so of course I get upset when virtual Joe, Jessica, and Jimmy burn to ☠️
Imagine the upset if they lost Afghanistan war.... oh wait!
@@TheFlanker47 Not really a war, the USA could easily invade and take full control but there's no point.
@@benlawton5420 The US did invade and occupy it for 20 years, and didn't accomplish shit.
Fun fact: soviet navy gunners were trained to shoot down ANTI-SHIP MISSILEs with their AK-130s
ED really has to buff the RNG on Russian guns, they really do.
All ships technically have DP main guns, but realistically you're not going to hit anything HMS Avenger was thought for a while to have hit an Exocet with her 4.5" gun but it seems likely that it didn't actually happen.
I guess with proximity fuzes it's worth a shot.
It's because they lost their awacs so they had to rely on their own radars, so they had limited accuracy because of the curvature of the Earth interfering with it, as well as because of all ECM in the field.
Can you just imagine being handed a gun and told to stand in front of a missile and that you had to shoot it down? Only in Russia lmao
@@beng7844 Lol, the AK-130s are the big 130(?)mm guns on the front of the ship - you are unlikely to be able to lift one. However during the falklands war in "bomb alley" in St Carolos water literally any machine gun/rifle anything that would shoot was given out and shot at the attacking aircraft - there are some spectacular photos.
51:56 I think in this moment they will shoot each other with anything with rifles 50cal's RPGs pistols stones anything
The crews will probably jump in the water to wrestle each other after running completely out of ammo.
@@stateoffun lol yes I agree with you they will bring some military knives and the water will coloring with blood
Good to see it takes .25 of the Russian navy to take a single carrier and support. They only have 10 to go
As an American, I say it’s all fun and games. No issues with seeing a simulated battle between US forces and other nations. Good stuff.
As an American Naval Veteran, it seems like the American Fleet has been somewhat disarmed. We would be hitting with far more ordinance than is displayed here. I do enjoy your videos however. Thank you for sharing.

I dunno man, these carrier vids keep racking up the views and they seem to do about twice as good as the clickbait dogfights. No idea whether other people watch / listen through the whole thing, though. If you start feeling too dirty or bored, how about trying out different ways of defeating a soviet tank rush (frontline fighters and air defenses included)? That might put a little bit of pressure on ED to improve combined arms. I'd love to see the RTS side of it worked on (or at least not crash the game) and it would be great for your missions and campaigns, too. I know you have a million other things in the pipeline already but throwing it out there anyway.
wargaming videos are 10x better than seeing the f22 bitchslap some 80s soviet fighter lol
Roger VOR, exaclty what I was thinking, once we finish the naval, we'll go onto tanks vs tanks etc. Looking forward that.
@@keithdonaldson4623 Totally agree. These wargaming scenarios are much more interesting.
Hey Cap!
This was so much entertaining!!
Thank you guys :)
thx
Don’t forget that stealth with hard points fitted loses a lot of stealth. Maybe if you can simulate the f35s with only internal stores?
for air planes within 35nm, there is no stealth plane in this range even F35 or F22, as for new AESA radars this range is extended to at least 50nm, and for air defenses that uses different radar frequencies the range maybe even higher
@@ahmadalastal5303 Not true. Some Typhoon pilots states, and Ill paraphrase.."Even though I can see him (the F22) through my canopy I couldnt put a weapons system on it."
the F-35s played no role in the battle other than to circle the Russian fleet and get shot down though
@@ahmadalastal5303 you can’t lock on to them on radar that’s how they work
100%. These videos are entertaining to a point but this employment of the F35 misses the point. + It's the Black Sea. Whole thing gives me the twitches.
F-18's aren't being replaced by F-35's, they're simply being added as just another wing group. Navy's aircraft carrier-based air wings will than consist of a mix of F-35C, F/A-18E/F Super Hornets, EA-18G Growlers electronic attack aircraft, E-2D Hawkeye battle management and control aircraft, MH-60R/S helicopters and Carrier Onboard Delivery logistics aircraft such as the emerging Navy Osprey tiltrotor aircraft variant.
Yeah, this game/sim severely neuters the US fleet.
The entertainment quality and quantity of these exercises are pretty impressive. While not exactly realistic, its SO much fun to see! Keep up the great work!!!
agreed: not realistic, but fun.
only thing not realistic here is that american navy lasted that long. in real life it would lose much faster to hypersonic launched missiles
Spare us the Russian Boogyman speech.

@@PaladinPoppie I have to admit, I'm wondering how long it would take the "Big Red One" to completely eliminate the Russian military...
I live near a place where F-35s fly regularly. One thing you don't realize about them from videos online is just how freaking loud they are. I used to live where 15s and 16s flew every day; The 35s are WAY louder.
I luv your energy on these videos! Please maintain a healthy amount of Carrier fun fun bang booms 💥💥💥
I’d be interested to see a NATO carrier group vs the so called Russian/ Chinese ‘Carrier Killer’ hypersonic ballistic missiles. Everyone in the press seems to think they signal the end of carriers but the ships must be able to put up some defence with SAM’s.

I wouldn’t put any stock in Russian military tech after their war in Ukraine
Wow, now that was awesome. Very even match-up.
That was absolutely awesome to watch good sir. 🤙🏻
If they end up without ammo, would they swim to the enemy Carrier and start a fist fight?
The Marines would ! Hoorah!
@Grim Reaper, while the F35 stealth is quite good, you are correct, close to those radars they can be detected. They only need to get a little closer then non stealth jets. Cut 1-2 seconds off response time for missiles increases hits a lot I would expect.
This is what I wanted and what I needed. Thanks Cap.

As an American I want to say thank you. This was great fun and I will have to re-watch this and take notes. I think both sides expended their ordnance too early and out of range. The Americans first target should have been the RUSSIAN AWACS. Second, US navy ships carry drones for target practice. They could fire the drones in one direction so the air winds could come in the other direction (IRAQ 1990-1991) THIS IS NOT A CHESS GAME, IT'S MORE LIKE POKER !!!
42:45 it is, a stable gun aimed at the right heading can almost certainly hit within 20 or so feet at that range since heading doesnt change, but at farther ranges moving the gun even just a tenth of a degree higher or lower can move the impact of the round a couple hundred feet farther or nearer
5” can also be used to take out air targets, the phalanx can be used against projectiles
Proud US patriot here... keep doing the US wargaming... It's silly for people to be offended. It's fun to watch!!!
Yes it is silly but it's not us Americans getting offended.
Watching this is frustrating in that it makes me wonder...why the hell don't we have a heavier gun comparable to their 30mm gatling gun for close quarter ship to ship combat? And how the heck can they not design a multi-billion dollar nuclear carrier to have a greater defense against such a weapon as a 30mm gatling gun?
The best video from Grim Reapers about US Carrier Group. Good job.
I did not expect this outcome! Nice one!
ALSO, love to see a Russian battlegroup attack a US Naval base. It would be great to see Russian attacking San Diego, or China recreating Pearl Harbor attacks. Im sure that would take some wizardry. These videos are fun for sure.
It might be useful to note that Russia only has one operational carrier, China =2, UK = 2, and the US = 11

The 3D radar can probably F 35 at about 15 to 30 miles but acquiring the lock is a whole Nother scenario if it’s showing it’s belly or side or back at about 20 miles you can probably get a lock
hey dumbass, the 35's weren't in stealth mode they all had undercarriage missiles on them which would make their stealth completely 0. You're only in stealth mode when you carry weapons internally but they chose to carry extra weapons all over their wing pylons and their belly which means they'd be tracked by radar very far just like any other plane. Secondly, missiles have both radar and IR. Even though the radar doesn't get a locking solution it can still be fired in the general area of where the track is spotted and then IR takes over and will kill the plane after locking on its IR signature
@@etluxaeterna I was talking about when they are in stealth mode dum fuck
That was bloody brilliant 👏
The pilots aren't great in these fights, have you considered upping their AI to "expert"? The f-35's didn't fight well and the Bogs didn't even fire their harpoons, and that's kinda the whole attack plan of the american fleet.
They put external pylons on the F35s for some insane crazy reason. Absolute stupidity I guess. It made them easy targets for radar-guided missiles and negated most of their stealth capability. On top of that, the F-35s did not even fire their missiles from stand-off ranges. Maybe the worst plan you could devise.
Also the F-18 should not have launched till they had air superiority or taken off and fly north then turn and fire. they could also have rearmed and launched again. the air to air stuff in these is always kinda boring.
@@calmterror this is how an idiot would fight with a US carrier group. I like these videos, for entertainment, but the tactician in me is screaming at how badly Executed the battle plan was
I can certainly try.
So, CAP is telling us that strong, independant, gung-ho American Superhumans (tm), gets hurt hurt because a virtual US ship in a simulator goes down?
As ex US Navy I have to say this was a great vid,,, Thanks!! I would also add that if it was left to both carrier's facing off at gun range I do think this is now it could turn out. The Russian carrier is very heavily armed compared to the US carrier.
I would also add that there is a saying,,,, " The moment you underestimate your opponent is the moment you lost the fight". I know there are a lot of people that like to say and think that the US has the best and in many ways this is ture,,,,,, BUUUTTT the Russians do not have junk and this would have been an very different fight if DCS had working subs. Anyway thanks for the fun,,,, you guys keep up the good work,,,, you have to put a lot of time and effort in to give us something to enjoy our coffee with!!
"What is going on?" "it's now a CWIS battle" .....while completely ignoring that the forward American destroyers finally had a firing solution for their aft guns, as did the lead Russian ship. you can literally see the guns firing..

Anywhere we can download this mission? +++Excellent series of battles guys! LOVE IT!! Keep them coming in difference scenarios!
54.34...i worked at a place that makes these weapon systems on ships. Brilliant bit of kit. All done with a joystick.
Hey. I noticed that if you use HARM or Mar-1 Anti radiation missiles the ships didn't react and tried to shoot them down. Something to try perhaps to sink a carrier group. You need about 4 or 5 HARMs to sink an Arleigh Burke...
I'm probably sounding stupid here since the f-35s are a mod, but isn't the main reason why they're being tracked by all the Russian radars because they're storing the additional payloads externally - and if Cap had limited the f-35 payloads to internal only, their stealth would work as relatively intended?
He explained the problem with that in the video. Were you not paying attention?
@@JAnx01 I just hadn't got to that point in the video

The only thing u missed I think, is that you used normal hornets for the US anti-shipping while in the real world, the US Navy just uses super hornets. I dont know if it would have made a diffrence but thats something I noticed. Also now that I think about it, I dont know if its availible in DCS but US carrier do have LRASM anti ship missles for the Super hornets. Maybe you could see if those are a option for a next time. And the third thought that I had, was that the Russian Navy Air Force indeed does not use anti ship missles on the SU-33 so u were correct with that. Thank you for the amazing video :)
Maybe you can try a joint chinese/russian navy against the us carrier strike group:
You could use the same us group but with the russian ones, replace the battlecruiser and the destroyers with a single chinese type 55 cruiser and two times chinese type 052c destroyers. You could use both a chinese and a russian carrier also to look if it would beat the US CSG.
If you wanted to make it even more interesting, give the US a (small) carrier, America class with A/A F 35B, to make it even.
Thank again for the amazing vids XD
PS Excuse my grammar, english isnt my first language.
IIRC Super hornets are broken currently.
i think he said that they dont work right now
Our naval doctrine will never face a Russian, Chinese or a mixed Carrier group with just one Carrier. In a real war scenario they will be at least 2 U.S. Carrier groups.
"I wish I was there getting blown up" hahaha had me dead.
This was so much fun! Better than Hollywood. Next time, have the Russian Carrier group hold off on their firing their load until the Americans start to fire their anti-ship weapons. Let the air war ensue then the big wait, then the chaos of all of those anti-ship and SM2s happen at once.
It would have been cool to watch the Kirov launch (defend) against the first Harpoon strike. Map View is "interesting" but SOME footage of the Kirov WOULD HAVE BEEN fun to watch....as an example
Just wanna say how much a viewer like me appreciates all the work you guys put in making these massive battles happen. Reapers forever.
I've been enjoying your series on attacking a US carrier group, and had a few thoughts:
1) Since 2009 the carriers would have E/A-18 Growlers, which would dramatically improve the survivability of the F/A-18s and the fleet due to their electronic attack capabilities.
2) If I were planning an attack on a carrier the first thing I would do is send in the fastest, stealthiest interceptors I could to take out the E-2C and blind the fleet from distant targets. In your scenarios, this would mean coming in fast from the north. Once it's down they'd either stick around waiting for the replacement E-2C to launch (if stealthy) or bug out and have another plane come in several minutes later to take out the second one.
3) In the case of an attack from one direction the destroyers, cruisers, and frigates would surge forward line abreast about 2 miles apart while the CV kept at cruise speed. That way all their missiles would be available to take out incoming threats, and their CIWS would have overlapping fields of fire. Once the first few ships had exhausted their missiles they could drop back to provide close support for the CV.
1) sadly EW not modelled to this degree in game.
2) roger
3) Interesting.
Great Video, amazing graphics
All I have to say was this was absolutely beautiful. I can't believe it ended with a Cwizz fight.
I wish it modelled men on deck with rifles...
It’s ciws
You're missing the attack subs on the US side that always accompany a carrier battle group.
Edit: I still love these simulations!
Please excuse my ignorance. Isn’t it F-35 is a stealth aircraft? Why would you put it to dog fight? My understanding is F-35 will detect and distribute the coordinates of valuable targets and fire a few missiles to enemy raiders. Other units will fire their guided missiles to the coordinates and work as a team.
Also, thanks for providing such great clip. Great job 👏🏻
I would love to see this one more time with two Iowa Class in support of the American Carrier Group. It would be interesting to see what might happen if it goes to guns.
If it went to guns the Iowas would destroy everything that got within 24 miles and be virtually impervious to gunfire. They also had harpoon launchers
Listen ‘ I would like to see the Battle between the F-14’s bBackfire Bombers done again, this time use the dooms day load on the Tomcats with Six that’s 144 AIM-54 that travel at MACH 5 for two squadrons hold the third Squadron back as a thrift wave , and you’ll see the difference in planning to meet the Attack ‘ great channel keep up the good work 👍
I love how that went from modern naval combat, through to WW1 style gun battle, theme ended up almost like an age of sail engagement!
I was waiting to see the grappling hooks & boarding parties go out. LOL!
CAP for anyone that does not like your videos, they can either provide constructive criticism or they can stop watching what they do not like. Either way, as a well-renown DCS World enthusiast would have said "It is a them problem!"
Keep having fun. Thank you.

I think if two mad admirals ever decided to waste their carrier fleets, no matter how insane they are they would engage eachother on a parallel course. Even during Jutland with 1.5% accurucy they didn't run at eachother like that. That is more of Ironclad era tactics, not quite WW2.
Yes, crazy. A US carrier group would never sail into range of those weapons as long as it had aircraft which could fire at standoff ranges. Anyone who has played Harpoon or CMANO knows this.
41:50 yamato magazine blew up due to all the torps it took, it's not the guns that made it blew up. The magazine was the flaw of those 2 ships.
Roger, I meant it damaged it's own deck generally when firing.l
Yamato an Musashi both sank due to the same design flaw, the lower section of the Hull was Riveted to the armor belt. That seam came apart when hit by torpedoes. Musashi was missing a huge section of her hull where the rivets came apart. They couldn't weld the armor belt to the other section because her belt armor was too thick.
Irony is they never really thought about Torpedo hits on that seam when they designed her because Air launched torpedoes were not a major consideration when she was laid down.
Still an amazing bit of engineering.
Awesome! Got to say Simba wouldn't have gotten the last three launches... the Kusnetsov's missiles small as they are would have shredded the deck crew on Nimitz. Yes I know that's not modeled!! Really enjoyed that vid though. Much more even! You're right cap... Cortana on the Russians side would have been 👌 awesome
a single missile would probably damage all the internal launching catapault mechanisms, not to mention wreck the paving of the deck runway and make it impossible to launch
That was blooming exciting!!! 😁
What an epic battle!!!! I always love to see ship to ship modern combat!!!
Kuznetzov is a carrier, cruiser, battleship, and soon submarine all in one.
Kuznetzov really want to become a sub but the russians prevents it all the time.
Russian and US carrier fleets are setup and designed very differently with different purposes and merthods. This sim is fun, but would never happen in real life.
@@voicesofsanity well considering the Russian carrier has to be pulled by tugboats everywhere I’d have to agree
Yeah, I was also wondering, did the kuznetsov fire its missile under the airstrip?
It’s that cool terrifying feeling lmao. I wonder what would of happened if they used the growlers and super hornets instead of the f35c
If the F-35's were able to full stealth they would be much more dangerous. Those wing pylons basically nerf them into F-16's a bit.
I really enjoyed this thank you 4 the entertainment. "right in da face" lol
I love these videos. I would like to see a round 3 US vs Russia where they start further away so the us can bring more than one volley of harpoons, at this distance the aircraft were smothered by grumbles when they left the carrier. Still so much fun to watch!
100% agree. Both groups would have AEW aircraft, so this fight would have started at 300nm+. For some crazy reason they put external pylons on the F35s. This negated the stealth by a large amount, allowing the F35s to be shot down. You would have had this open with an air battle at long ranges between clean wing F35s getting a massive jump on the Russian aircraft, probably killing 75% before the Russians had a radar signature to shoot at. It would be a near wipeout. Then you would have F-18s launching 100+ Harpoons from standoff ranges, turning around and reloading and doing it again. A carrier likely has an inventory of well over 100 Harpoons (maybe 200). I think GR know this is how such a battle would play out, and it would be a totally lopsided outcome, so this version was more entertaining. It is maddening to someone who understands carrier strategy.
@@Simeon301091 you think a nuclear war is the most realistic outcome? Hahaha, then why would Russia even build carrier groups if that is the plan all along? People who think like you make me laugh a lot😂😂😂👍🏻
@@Simeon301091 you do realize that US carrier groups travel with 2 fast attack submarines, correct? Most likely at least one would be a Virginia class submarine which would be somewhat stealthier than the best Russian subs. They have nuclear weapons too…
Plus, what do you think the range on such a weapon is? Have you though through the practicality of this? There is a Russian carrier group nearby as well. You think a nuclear explosion at the ranges we are discussing makes any sense? Did you think any of this through?
@@Simeon301091 this has little to do with “MERICA” (but this is what neophytes always counter with). It has to do with carrier fleet defense strategy. You would never close to such distances without an air battle with fighter sweeps, and just by the numbers, it would be hard for a Russian carrier to win that fight. Even if they traded planes one-to-one…it would be an 80% BVR fight, which means if you add stealth aircraft into the mix, they can pass targeted data to F-18s who can spam AIM-120s without using their radar. The Russian pilots would know a cloud of missiles is coming their way, but will not have a radar signature to shoot at. It would be terrifying.
This is just how the tech works, and I think GR gamed that scenario out and it would be a wipeout. That was the whole point.
@@mandoreforger6999 So could the russians fire a 2nd wave of anti ship missiles
Damn this looks like fun. I downloaded DCS steam edition and looked at all the controls to memorize for flying a fighter jet and got overwhelmed. What is the learning curve to do one of these carrier battles? Am I going to have to spend 6 months just learning all the PC controls?
Cap-Atta Boy to this video and your group of people who produce (and Star?) in it. Enjoyed it immensely! As actual naval battles go, I think you're close. Anyone should not get offended by a Russian Battle Group kicking the ass of an American, just think-it may happen! Also, this I realize is just for entertainment. If you don't like it, don't watch it! Too many negative and abusive comments in the Comments. Just sit and enjoy someones hard work. Appreciate it!
Why are people getting mad at the carrier group videos? I enjoy them a lot and if anyone gets mad at it, you shouldn't stop.
In the Harpoon game the most effective attack against the Russians is a mixture of Harpoons and HARMs, they can't switch off the radars to defeat the HARMs and the HARMs degrade the radar coverage to give the Harpoons a chance to get through ,but it's still a hard task. Does DCS have HARMs modelled?
They have a video showcasing TALDs to suck up ordinance as part of a strike against a fictitious target in Krasnodar. That was somewhat reminiscent of what was possible in Harpoon to overwhelm an unrealistically heavy Soviet raider group.
I guess my only real question is, being only up to the predictions parts of the video is only 32 aircraft on the U.S. Carrier? I know that Russian, Chinese and Indian carrier carry far fewer aircraft then then a U.S. carrier, and U.S. carrier can care up to 70 to 90 aircraft. What the reduction done for balance or due to limits of the simulation software?
And they can re-load upon landing.
@@ElsinoreRacer so can the sukhois.
@@HMSNeptun but they all died and their turn around is comparative crap.
@@ElsinoreRacer So did all the hornets and almost all the lightnings.
Even with a human pilot they couldn't turn the tide.
@@HMSNeptun No, Hornets made it back and then sat. Then there is the "Hornets can't defend themselves" bit. And the F-35s stuck with pylons. Pretty bs, actually.
Somewhere some US Admiral is looking over at an Iowa class battleship model and going... "One last dance?" lol
Do you know the link of the video where you mentioned the improved version of Russia versus China video? All assistance is highly appreciated.
I normally see in most scenarios that whenever the external pylons on stealth aircraft are not used, they automatically get removed over once you actually use them in game. What happened here?
I don't think Simba should have unlimited respawns, it would be extremely unsatisfying for everyone if the course of a close battle would be changed just because one of the sides has an infinite supply of a fully-loaded plane.
In reality a US carrier has far more than 32 aircraft, so this would not have been close at all. Plus, they wasted the stealth nature of the F35s by putting pylons on them for some crazy stupid reason. The F18s would have fired Harpoons from standoff ranges, none would have been shot down and they would have landed and reloaded. Nothing about this was realistic.
@@mandoreforger6999 And you think the Russian military and equipment is modelled accurately? A US carrier may have more aircraft but Russian missiles are also far more smart than they are modelled in DCS. In the end, if you want a "realistic" simulation, these fun videos are not for you.
Now that the Russian surface warfare unit works, you should turn it loose on previous challenges. I’d love to see it paste the WW2 Axis battle-line.
Wow! That was more interesting than any Hollywood movie! The climax
