  • The Saga of the Plymouth Colony Told By The Women Who Lived It.
The story of Pilgrim Elizabeth Tilley Howland is reenacted by Catherine Caprio a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants.
Pilgrim Elizabeth Tilley came to America on the Mayflower in 1620 with her parent , John and Joan Tilley, and uncle and aunt, Edward and Agnes Tilley.
During the first horrible winter at Plymouth Colony both her parents and aunt and uncle died and she was left as a ward of the John Carver family who died that April.
John Carver's servant John Howland was left part of the estate, including enough for Elizabeth's needs. Three years later Elizabeth married John Howland, one of the signers of the Mayflower Compact.
John and Elizabeth later purchased land at Duxbury and Rocky Nook, Massachusetts. John served as a Plymouth colony assistant and deputy to the general court, was in charge of the fur trading post at Kennebec, and was also on the fur trade committee.
