  • Hello friends. This an old Westinghouse AC Motor that I finished restoring today.
    Type: FHT
    Serial Number: S1178929-C
    Frame: 56Z
    1/2HP
    8.1AMP
It was an easy project as far as wiring goes. It is a good AC motor with 1725 RPM.
I hope you find this video useful. Please let me know about your thoughts and opinions. Thank you for watching.

I have a very similar one from a jar mill. It just stopped running after getting very hot despite lubricating it. What could have failed?

Hi. Sorry for my late response. Have you ever opened it for a service?
It happens to me sometimes but in my case, I open every motor that I get and service them.
So in my case, it’s usually the wiring, where I incorrectly connected the wires.
The Assembly Switch inside could be a reason.
The wools inside the old bush bearings could be another reason. Maybe it’s to replace them. Also maybe the AC’s body could be either loose or too tight.
The ventilation could be a reason too. Maybe it has collected lot of dust.
This is based on my experience though. Good luck with your motor.
