Does the entire system fail to operate (with power) if the battery has died? My security company claims the system no longer works WITH power. Is the transmission of the signal partially or in principle, dependent on the battery?
Why don't you just power everything off the 18AH battery. Then the balancing is optimal. And yes AFAIK the IDS can be set to not send a power failure alarm when you remove the mains.

the IDS models will still work with AC mains even if there is no battery.
