    Mate. I spent the money on the PC and let me tell you. You are right in every sense. It's a totally different machine. Best money I've spent and really demands respect now 🤤👌🏻👊🏻 Oh and I only got this coz of your video. Cheers!

    I wasn't expecting much up top, those monster singles aren't really known for their power making near the max, but wow that gain where it counts. what a monster.

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  8 років тому

      Yes exactly, 1 bhp at the top thats all, but low down wow its like another bike!! Also one thing I forgot to mention is how smooth and progressive the power is now, thats is actually the main benefit, makes the bike much nicer to ride

      Yes real good gains below 6k, its amazing that very few people with big singles bother with power commanders! whereby sports bike every other bike has one! More gains to be had on a big single than a sports bike! :)

    I can't tell you exactly how much I actually love the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto it's got the power it's got the everything I don't want to go to a listing of everything and you don't put in a power commander in it and doing the exhaust and air filter not a lot of people think that it does anything to the bite but it does a hell of a lot and you know what you feel it right away congratulations I hope you're happy with it and I know I would be LOL great video great to see everything done from start to finish I love it just from watching it and I could just imagine how it feels to be riding it!.... I just actually got a Kawasaki ZX-10R I'll be riding soon and my channel will actually be up and running with me and a motorcycle LOL not me throwing knives good like I used to have so now I guess you know anyway great video badass awesome buddy!...

    I think KTM still mount the stock snorkel lid on the 690/701 SM's... seems a bit lazy since there's no reason to not swap them out for something more open. On my 701 Enduro I'm keeping it for it's water/dust exclusion properties... but on the SM I'd have it off right away.
    Holy cow that low end power jump is HUGE... now I'm thinking I need a chip/tune (bottom end is the only place the bike feels a bit soft)

  • @MotardSteve
    @MotardSteve 7 років тому +2

    Makes you curious how having the power commander on affects the mode switch. Sure it doesn't hurt but more curious how it affects the "bad Gas" setting. Been watching a lot of 701 vids lately as I'm looking at picking one of the 2017's up in a few months. This video makes me want to do a dyno tune video once I get the $$$ for all the parts to open it up. Good video dude.

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  7 років тому +1

      +MotardSteve no need to use the mode switch now, I had the bike mapped in standard position. The power commander also adjusts ignition advance so changing map on the switch could cause issues.. now the bike is super smooth and powerful on the standard mode no need to change. If you have poor fuel quality I wouldn't fit the pc in the first place tbh.. map switch only changes throttle response not power anyway.

    • @MotardSteve
      @MotardSteve 7 років тому

      Lamb Chop Rides Ahh gotcha didn't know what mode you used to tune it. I figured most would use the advanced map, but then again with a pcv on the bike I don't see how it would really matter either way since it will get the best results regardless. We've got pretty good fuel quality here in the states so doubt I'd ever use the bad fuel setting but was still something that peaked my curiosity.

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  7 років тому +1

      +MotardSteve the advanced map is very snatchy which is why I didn't want to use that as the starting point. I'm not sure what effect changing the map position would have now.. may have a play see if it's still snatchy on advanced but guess shouldn't leave it in that position incase fuel map is altered..

    • @MotardSteve
      @MotardSteve 7 років тому

      Lamb Chop Rides So you mean that with the advanced mode fueling was to on and off for your liking, like to the point where it was unrideable? because I know the 500/501 suffers from this coming from the factory.

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  7 років тому +1

      +MotardSteve yes indeed the start stop at a constant speed isn't great on advanced, also made wheelies hard to balance where you want smooth control. Power commander makes a huge difference to the smoothness of the power delivery 👍

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  8 років тому

      Yes you need the module connected, its a piggyback system doesn't override or change the map in the bikes ECU. Its a small module doesnt take up much room to be fair and sits in there lovely :)

    how does the bike handle in city traffic? low speeds, first/second gear? i've heard that the throttle response is fairly jerky and abrupt. how does the husky handle in soft mode?

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  8 років тому

      +J0J0McM0M0 I completely forgot to mention the best thing about this mod is how it improves the throttle response. In standard mode throttle response is a little snatchy stock, not too bad but PC really improves it. In advance mode it's very snatchy. The reason for this is the lamda sensor makes the bike run very lean below 4K to meet emissions and makes it snatchy. PC bypasses lamda and there is a proper map below 4K 👍

    Hi LCR,nice video!
    I've got a 701 SM with an Arrow slip on and I'm planning to get the Evo1 airbox lid from the 690, manly for the increased induction sound it gives to the bike.The question is: is it Mandatory to remap the ECU? Is it really running too lean with just a slip on (no kat) and an airfilter lid? Thanks!

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  7 років тому +1

      Well I know two people who run an exhaust / filter and no map changes.. I think it will be fine but PC does really sort out throttle response so really worth it!

  • @twed206
    @twed206 7 років тому

    Hi Lambchop, was this done at FW developments just outside Preston? I notice yours is a 16 model and I have a 17 so just asked them about compatibility and they said the bike they had in was actually a 17 model so just confirming facts before I bite the bullet and get it tuned at Lancaster. cheers.

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  7 років тому +2

      Hmm, yes it was done by FW developments which is Dynojet headquarters in the UK. Mine is definitely a 2016 so they are either confused or not referring to my bike... Unless they have done another one which I doubt. I suspect the unit will fit fine but the map wont be right. Cheers

  • @airdoctor1251
    @airdoctor1251 8 років тому

    So if I give my bike to my local dynojet they can tune it? I'm saying this cuz Rottweiler are making a better air box than the Evo one you got and I would like them to tune it according to that air box. Also currently I have got Remus (race only, very illegal compared to wings) it weights around 1.54 kgs almost .7 kgs lighter than wings. My point is will they make a standard map from the data they collected about your bike or will they tune every bike accordingly. If it is the latter then why my local dynojet didn't tune my bike when I asked them to 6 months ago?

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  8 років тому

      Yes, if you buy a Power Commander and use my map as the base map you can fit the new airbox and they can tweak accordingly :-) There is currently no PC available for the 701, its coming soon based on the work that was done on my bike, the 690 unit was used as the base but needed some changes to work on the 701.

  • @willrt1711

    Hi Lambchop, how are the maps on the PCV changed? I don't have an external switch, but I doubt it's the underseat Husqvarna OEM ignition map switch that changes it. I have my underseat switch on 1 right now, which apparently is the soft map. Otherwise I have the akrapovic, airbox upgrade and of course the PCV.
    Just need to get to grips with her as she's still new to me and I don't have a clue about all these switches and ECU modules... I was used to Carbs!

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  7 років тому

      +Rasmus Asp when it was setup was on standard filter but had ordered a bmc filter but it didn't arrive in time for the dyno. I've added it since as dyno guy said it would effect the map much. Lid fits the 701 perfect it's the same ktm airbox as the 690. I did just trim around the edge so it wasn't catching the loom though at the top.

      Lamb Chop Rides Ok! Sounds like the PC is a must for this bike:) Where did you order the bmc air filter? Cant find it, or do you need to search for it for the 690 smc?

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  7 років тому +1

      +Rasmus Asp yes indeed it's a 2015 onwards ktm 690 filter don't think you will find any listed for 701..

      His was probably free as they were developing a map that will be available when you buy a power commander for the 701. Obviously it’s not the exact same map but I’m sure it’s similar.

    Hey, would you recommend a 701 (if it's even possible??) to get restricted for an A2 license? I turn 19 next year and want to invest in a supermoto I can use both on A2 and then on an unrestricted license, but unsure if this is an appropriate choice for someone who has only been riding on a 125 before, and also someone who doesn't know much about how bikes all work? I would love to start putting my money into a nice bike. Cheers, just subscribed.

      @LambChopRides  8 років тому +1

      +Zak hi Zak, thanks for the sub matey 👍 yes they do an A2 restriction for the 701 so it's possible. It's also a very easy bike to ride, very smooth easy controls, comfortable riding position with amazing brakes and abs. I would recommend for a new rider, it's even very easy to work on so no dramas there also 😀

    I've got a 2017 701 supermoto and they don't come with a map switch... ive installed a wings exhaust and will be purchasing an intake soon, then a power commander once available. I'm new to Dyno tuning and Ecu flashing. Is the map switch adjusting the same settings the power commander taps into and adjusts? Or is the map switch tweaking something completely different?

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  7 років тому +6

      +Matthew F the map switch adjusts the throttle sensitivity it doesn't effect power output, it may adjust ignition timing also I'm not sure.. the main benefits of the pc is it maps the engine with the correct amount of fuel, bikes from the factory can't do this as they are mapped to pass emissions controls which means running very lean below 4k revs. So even just adding a pc and no other performance parts you will still see a performance benefit. The pc adjusts the ignition timing and the amount of fueling to give better performance and feel. The map adjuster switch just changes the response of the throttle no performance benefits.

      You can download a base map and just use that you dont have to have it setup on a rolling road. Custom map is better of course as every bike is slightly different. its about £180 for a custom map 2 - 3 hours work

    supermarket fuel 😥
    also the rubbish about running it lean is a marketing speel, the o2 sensors in the exhaust monitor the air fuel mixture and alter the fueling to suit.
    a power commander will help make more power by adding more fuel outside of the standard ECU peramiters, but adding an air filter and a slip on can will not run your engine lean.

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  7 років тому +2

      +KB Eightyseven not true dude, only wide band o2 sensors can adjust fuel across the entire rev range. On new bikes you only get narrow band which can only adjust below 4k revs. At the top end when your thrashing the engine is at risk! O2 sensor is there on a new bike to meet emissions not to protect your engine

    • @kbeightyseven1783
      @kbeightyseven1783 7 років тому

      Lamb Chop Rides mate I'm sorry but you are talking rubbish now, firstly an o2 sensor doesn't alter fuel regardless of being wideband or open loop, the ECU alters the fueling to the injectors, i also think you are under the assumption that the standard ECU has just one fuel map and that it which is not true, it CAN and WILL alter the fuel map if it see's higher amounts of oxygen in the exhaust gases or running lean, and the ECU has a wide set of parameters for any rpm not just one figure and that's it, a bike at high altitude will need different fueling to a bike at low altitude you don't need a new ECU for that because it it can alter the fueling on the fly, while i do admit the manufacturer play it safe which may reduce power mostly due to ignition timing because not everybody wants to go flat out all the time and they need to meet emmisions, you would have to carry out major modifications to gas flow and air intake to force the ECU to fuel outside of its available parameters ie camshaft, porting, forced induction, fitting an air filter and end can will not.
      the mapping you had advanced the ignition timing and added more fuel which is a common practise to increase power, but it can only be added so much as it will start to produce predetination which does result in engine failure, hope he used a knock sensor or the value was mlnitored as it has one as standard 👍

      +Ron Bullet (Lone Padre Rider) that's not my thread but I've seen it, yes unit is slightly diffrent. If you have a 690 loads of maps out there, have you looked on the powercommander website? I'm not sure the 701 map would be ideal for the 690..

    • @motopiknik
      @motopiknik 8 років тому

      No-no, my 690 was sold. I ordered 701 and just planning mapping of it. With 690 year 2012 I used TuneEcu, not powercommander. So, I'm not pro in this stuff.... Anyway, I already ordered Wings and EVO-1, waiting for my 701 in couple of weeks. May I contact you privately after that in case Dynojet doesn't start to sell powercommanders for 701? Because my second problem is that there are no service centers of Dynojet in Poland... Anyway, your video is very useful, thanks a lot!
