  • In this video, a complete oil and filter change is performed in real time documenting in detail the step-by-step oil change procedure. Some tips are provided to ensure a safe and successful job as well as some interesting footage of the valve train at 49:25 while the engine is running. The footage was purposely shot as one continuous stream to both provide a sense of time relative to how long the job took as well as to capture every detail possible. Footage shot/uploaded 3/17/2012.

Should use gloves really as used engine oil is carcinogenic. Also correct oil is 20- 50 surely on a car of this age

Very useful video explaining step-by-step an oil and oil-filter change, incl. the draining of MB's typical oil-cooler of those days. Much appreciated!

Add the new oil _after_ you’ve removed the axle stands & set the car on the ground. Add the amount of oil required less 1 quart, start the engine for a few secs to pump it round, switch off & use the dip stick as you add the remainder. The oil dip stick is the best way to check the amount is correct. You don’t want to go over the upper limit.

I've watched a lot of your videos on your 95 F250, and I can honestly say you make some very good videos. Very informed and very in depth. Great videos!

And yes, the best idea MB came up with is the latch that allows the bonnet (hood) to go vertical so you don’t bang the back of your head when working on the engine. Just a pity they didn’t think of it for our W114, W115 models! 😏

You could, of course, have put the new filter standing in new oil in a funnel jug or something while you remove the old. That’d saturate the filter and you could simply pour the oil in the engine when you’re done re-installing the filter.

thanks. I have the same Mercedes but shes in a worse condition. Im hoping that with in time, I can restore her back. She needed a big tune up but I got that out'a the way now. Now I gotta get it registered, insured, and my licensce.

I whack my head on that hood release every time I come up from looking in the left side of the engine bay.

Why not use the new washers? That makes sure you get a good seal. You get them in the filter set, as you showed.

not sure...but i think there is a latch on the hood hinges that will allow you to raise the hood almost 90 degrees...

I have a 75 280 with the gas inline 6. Ive heard people recommend using diesel oil. What do you think? Ive also heard it should be synthetic blend instead of full synthetic.
