    My great uncle is the conductor of the horden colliery band in the video, Frank Smallwood. If there is anymore footage of him, it would be great to see

    This video just displays how Horden has lost its community spirit since the closure of the colliery. They say it was cheaper to get coal from abroad but think about it in the long run how many people have claimed sickness benefits and haven't worked since the pit? A fair few I can tell you!

      Here we are in 2022/23 with skyrocketing energy prices too. Drax burning Canadian wood while ordinary folks are being told their woodburners are evil. Falling for this all over again.

    I guarantee that when Thatcher dies every single ex-miner from Horden will turn up at her funeral just to make sure the fucking lid is nailed shut!
