    So good to see you back. I can't imagine that anyone out there wouldn't understand anxiety and have had some experiences of this condition. More power to your elbow fella. Keep up the great work.

    Great to see you back Richard. The best way I can explain mindfulness is to simplify it, because new concepts can be intimidating for an exhausted brain. If you play guitar it's that lost time you only become aware of after you've put the guitar down.

    Credit to you for taking the time to talk about anxiety, which can only be a good thing.
    I bought a Pure GAC from you a few weeks back, and it is staggeringly good for £800, or several times more than that!
    I love the idea behind it, it really is a thing of beauty, and most definitely a keeper for me.
    All the best Richard 👍

    Wow! That is one awesome guitar, based in simplicity and awareness. My goal is to own a Dowina guitar, thanks to your exposure of all of their various models the past few years, and I am thinking a set up such as yours, except with one of their short scale parlors with a slotted headstock, would be insanely cool. You totally nailed it with the cedar top! I had the good fortune to have a philosophy prof in college introduce me to Eastern Thought, and it changed my life. That's gotta be the sweetest "rosette" ever! Again, so good to see ya back, I have been wondering where the hell is Richard the past year, he just disappeared!

    Delighted to see you back Richard! We messaged each other in one of your previous videos about using the word 'jaw dropping'. I'd literally just bought a guitar from your showroom a few days earlier.
    Watching this video made me so happy. Beautifully designed Dowina you have masterminded there and makes me feel even more reassured that I made the right choice when I chose to buy my Dowina from you. I was choosing between the Eastman guitars and one Dowina guitar. They were all great but it was the Dowina I went for as it just called out to me. And given your descriptions about how lovely the people are there, I know I made the right choice.
    Looking forward to seeing more videos from you again 😀.

    Welcome back Richard. Glad you're feeling better. Been checking weekly in case I'd missed a video even though I'm subscribed ha. I have a video idea. I'll soon be in the market for a sub 2k guitar. Could you do a comparison between the best value sub 2k acoustic between a furch, a dowina (I own one) an eastman and a auden. I'm looking at an OM or OOM. Be interesting to see ultimate comparison in the same room. Keep well, your videos have been missed.

    As always I appreciate your transparency whether it's discussing what you're dealing with personally or in speaking about guitars.
    I've dealt with anxiety since I was a young child and I'm now 62 years old. I have also found much benefit from the Buddhist practices of mindfulness as well as Taoist thought (which had a direct influence on Zen Buddhism).
    Thanks to those practices most people wouldn't even know that I deal with anxiety unless I tell them. But I have a practice I do every single morning soon after I wake up and it has made all the difference in the world.
    Speaking about it the way you do is extremely helpful because it helps others know that they are not alone dealing with these types of things.

    So good to see you back on u tube - and such a great approach in turning a negative to a positive - also I would just like to add to your sentiments about the simplicity of the Dowina Pure letting the quality of the build and the key materials shine out - between yourselves and Dowina you helped me specify and build a guitar in memory of my late Mum very much along these lines and I can say that it a fabulous instrument that is a fitting tribute to a wonderful person.

    • @RichardsGuitarshop
      @RichardsGuitarshop  2 роки тому +1

      Honestly - This is where Dowina shine. The thing is - its literally been like having all the planets aligning!! You need every single aspect from the skill to do the work, to the desire to use your skills in a positive and creative way, to having an outlet for that passion (thats me :) ) and then for everyone to "get" each other and become one positive entity that can make this happen! I think without Dowina during Covid I would have gone mad - Dowina give me hope and belief that there are people out there that are not only brilliant but have genuine human spirit - its actually hard to put into words but I hope your lovely guitar that acts as a reminder of your mum each time you pick it up sums up my words better than I can put them down on here!!!

    Well I hate to make myself unpopular, but this is not wise.
    Buddhism, like all eastern religions and philosophies, is occult, and it's therefore spiritually dangerous to dabble in it.
    Whatever the outward appearances may be, it's not going to take you anywhere good in the end, and although it may temporarily cover them up, it certainly won't solve your problems in the meantime.
    If you need healing and deliverance, Buddhism is powerless to provide it, and in the long term it can only make matters worse.- and I say this out of genuine concern. God bless.

    • @RichardsGuitarshop
      @RichardsGuitarshop  2 роки тому

      I dont consider Buddhism as a religion - I consider it a spiritual direction, you may say. With regard to "God", my only memory of Church was a Holy Communial when I remember being told the gathering were eating the flesh of Jesus and drinking his blood. I think if little green men jumped out of space craft during that session, they may well have considered that an occult? However - I wouldn't dream of judging anyone for their religious or spiritual direction because I wouldnt be so self-righteous. Buddhism talks a lot about the ego - you should research it.

    • @SuperJ333
      @SuperJ333 2 роки тому

      @@RichardsGuitarshop Well I spoke factually and didn't resort to personal insult, but I have to say found your response somewhat patronising and rude.
      In fact it would almost seem that you are taking the very self-righteous attitude you accuse me of - which, by the way, could not be further from the truth.
      Now you have some expertise when it comes to guitars, shall we say, and you have knowledge and experience that I don't have, so I respect that, but I also have specialist areas, and I've spent pretty much a lifetime looking into what we might call the supernatural, so it's insulting to say "you should research it" - this is not humility.
      I sincerely empathise with your unfortunate and hurtful encounter with the Catholic so-called 'church' that you rightly scorn.
      Roman Catholicism has little to do with Biblical Christianity - in fact, it's the world's biggest cult, and a demonically inspired counterfeit of something real.
      But that shouldn't put you off looking into things - there can only be counterfeit gold if there's such a thing as real gold.
      Just a note on my use of the word 'occult: I'm not sure what you meant by what you said, but the word literally translates as 'hidden' - however, it's usually applied to those hidden or supernatural things that come from 'the dark side,' shall we say.
      Now the accusation of being judgemental is often used as a defence, but consider this: your best friend has come to the conclusion that heroin in the way to enlightenment.
      You mention that it's not a good idea to start sticking needles in his arm, but he says it's his life, so stop judging him and playing holier-than-thou.
      Are you going to keep quiet and say nothing, are are you going to do whatever you can to stop him killing himself, even if he doesn't like you for it?
      Of course you are, because you know, and you care about him.
      And Richard, it's impossible NOT to judge - we do it all day long or we'd have no way of deciding what's right and wrong, who we want to associate with, which guitar manufacturers are worthy of respect, or which direction is preferable - without judgement there's no difference between Hitler and mother Teresa..
      What we mustn't do is condemn, or write people off, and I'm certainly not doing that.
      Finally, you may christen Buddhism a 'spiritual direction' or a 'philosophy' or a 'world view' but however you 'consider' it, the fact is, it's a religion.
      The dictionary defines it as such, it's listed in all encyclopedias as such, pretty much everyone from the man in the street to academics consider it as such, and it's followed as such, especially in the east.
      In fact, a 'spiritual direction' is what any religion really is, so this is just quibbling over semantics, and it's a denial of what actually are religious sentiments and beliefs.
      There's nothing wrong with an ego, we just need to have it under control - there is no point in denying our humanity - it's something that needs to be recognised and dealt with - Jordan Peterson is pretty good on this (clinical psychologist popular on UA-cam).
      God bless.

    • @ubermod5564
      @ubermod5564 Рік тому

    • @SuperJ333
      @SuperJ333 Рік тому

      @@ubermod5564 Well I can't see how or where I've said or suggested that Richard is being 'patronising' - I don't think you're using the right word.
      Nor do I see any arrogance in anything I said - where do you get that from?
      It's a fact that no eastern religion offers healing, or claims to provide it - if that's not true, then please say which one does.
      Otherwise, why rail against someone simply for speaking the truth?

    • @ubermod5564
      @ubermod5564 Рік тому

      @@SuperJ333 Where did I get it from? Maybe it's something to do with how sure you are that you are speaking 'the truth' and reporting 'facts' when actually you are merely expressing a subjective opinion, apparently incapable of understanding different view points. Whether you like it or not, unless you're talking about scientific facts, 'truth' is subjective. My advice: don't be so sure of yourself or your 'facts'.
