I wonder the same sometimes and it is hard to talk with my family about these things. I am in the exact same boat coming from a very large family of Catholics. Just remember to pray always for them and share the Word of God as much as possible. Things that may seem impossible for you and I are never out of His reach. It may be possible that you and I were called by Him to be a light for our families. As it is written in Esther, "for such a time as this." Good luck and God bless.
You do have a spiritually mature attitude which is commendable. I've seen friendships and relationships in families break up over these things. I worship as an ecumenical non denominational Christian. So I go to Mass and also worship with Pentecostals and others as I have the chance. We have far more in common than not but need to bridge those gaps. It starts with critical examination of the Bible which many of us are too lazy to do.
I worship with Catholics but will not convert for a few reasons. It is very odd to me that they consult the catechism above the Bible and are quick to ask a priest for guidance rather than to seek it out for themselves. Not to say other Christians don't do the same but coming from a Baptist background where we had to memorize chapters and versus in the Bible as a kid, this lack of scriptural fluency is odd to me.Mass is not so much about hearing the word as it is taking in the eucharist.
Who will betray us???? Those who hold to the theology and allegory of the likes of Origen and Augustine, and that includes a lot of people. It is a dangerous world, but Yeshua warned us.. and those who are in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution without doubt, and for many martyrdom.
I understand the skepticism, I had to weigh the evidence for myself with much prayerful consideration. The way I understand it is that midrash is simply a matter of noticing repeating patterns and a method of highlighting repeating events. History repeats itself.If you want to know what is going to happen, look at what did happen. "That thing that has been, it is that which shall be, and that which is done shall be done, there is no new thing under the sun" Ecclesiastes 1:9 I hope this helps.
