Full list of materials used: Milliput Car body filler Superglue Polypropylene 1mm plastic sheet 2mm ABS plastic sheet (can just use polypropelene if you have enough) Hot glue Liquid latex Lots of spray paints Acrylic paints (black and brown)
Did you have much difficulty making the Milliput smooth? I used it to make prop gun parts and even with sanding it seemed impossible to make it uniform
The Huge visor annoyed me when I was a kid. Until now there's a way to mod the visor to make it smaller. And I would totally buy that helmet. If you make a bunch and sell them.
I actually own this helmet (which also had lost it's rangefinder) and thought it looked less cool on me then it does in the movies. You have done an excellent job modifying the helmet into a more serious piece and the process was fun to watch so all in all great video.
That was awesome! I used to be a model-maker and only did three scratch-builds (Silent Hill characters). I was mostly self-taught, but never did anything as elaborate as this. I never knew about using liquid latex to get that layered effect. I did a few Boba Fett kits, my favourite being the 1/6 scale Kaiyodo model, but even then I basically just did primer and then the paint. They turned out OK, even though I only ever hand-painted. This was great work. You turned a goofy-looking toy into a badass piece of cosplay kit! Thanks for making it so in-depth and fascinating.
I still have 5 minutes left to watch, but I just had to paus to tell you that the latex-paint-peel method was absolutely BRILLIANT! I've never seen multiple-layer-wethering done like that before, and I just LOVE it!!
one of the tips I learned from the Mandalorian Mercs forum is to use toothpaste to mask the worn areas. it seems to work really good and is cheap from the dollar store. looks great, I never made it very far in Hasbro conversion. maybe someday i'll finish it and my cast legacy helm.
AMAZING!!! Also loved the time lapse of classic Dr Who in the back ground :-D (DragonFire use to scare me as a child) Love the End result of the Helmet, as always your video was fun & inspirational to watch even if your not planning on doing a star wars costume/prop build, your demonstration of the techniques is easy to follow :-)
A great source of cheap, workable plastic for props/armor is actually cat litter tubs. Instead of building up with layers of thin plastic, you can just get some Insta-Morph, or other microwaveable molding plastic, rough in the general shape, and then use the Bondo to square it up
I'm a guy who works best with his hands and figuring things out pretty quick. You my dear, have a true talent for attention for detail. I'm amazed on how good your work is. 👏🏽👏🏽
Great video and conversion! I used the same method with the liquid latex to repaint the Rubies Fett helmet, it’s a great technique for paint weathering!
This was awesome! GLAD TO SEE IM NOT THE ONLY ONE!! I'm in the middle of the exact same conversion. It was definitely a bit more difficult than I presumed, but saved me a lot of money & time. 90% the same steps as you, just different materials in the States I think. Thanks to you, I'm about to waste some more time transforming my Clone Trooper. Thanks a bunch 😜 LOL, EasyRoc
Interesting method for closing up the visor slit! I ended up making thin sheet aluminum pieces glued onto the cheek pieces to raise the lower edge of the smoked visor slit and taper the center (or leg of the "T"). I also gutted most of the interior structure and made the top shell a solid piece by welding the two halves together with a soldering iron. Foam padding was added later. These helmets are a real bear to see out of if you don't have a brachicephalic head.
This is great! I picked up one of these helmets at the thrift store, and it had been left in someone's basement for who knows how long. I had the same problem with the screws when I tried to take it apart to clean it.
@@robdcollector2808 You seem to have not seen the clone wars TV- show. That show is the Best Star Wars I have seen, and it is technically a prequel. If we are talking about something that shouldn't exist, I recommend the sequel trilogy. Those are some of the worst movies I have seen.
Brilliant video. You've got some mad talent, well done! I own 2 of these helmets but never even held a dremel or sanded and painted anything so mine will have to stay as they are but really cool to see what they could become!
If you're interested in completing a Boba Fett costume might I suggest the RPF and The Dented Helmet forum. They're a wonderful punch of people, full of advice about all things related to Boba Fett's costume. Edit: Incredible job btw!
So glad to see you using a respirator, and a decent one at that. I see so many creators on UA-cam not using protection even when sanding resin etc. The dust from these toxic materials can cause cancer. Thanks for the great video. 👍
I like how u fixed the part of the visor that covers the eyes, but the middle part is supposed to stay wide. Otherwise it just looks more like Din Djarin’s helmet from the Mandalorian
A body shop guy from work told me that using butter for the scratches etc, then paint over it, then just wipe butter off with the top layer of paint comes off so easy, and wont destroy or lift under layers of paint. way better than latex.
excellent technique. Been wanting to do a Mando cosplay for a bit, but was wondering how to get all those realistic scratches. gonna keep this video in mind when the time comes to paint!
Nice job...I have a Hasbro Clone trooper phase 1 helmet that I am going to convert following most of the steps of your Clone trooper conversion. And I have a Don Post Boba Fett helmet that need less work to convert too... I get both for a really good price...So let's make them better...Thank you for your videos
I think due The Mandalorian this helmet is more desired for now and ranges from $50 - $100 depending on the condition. I have the hasbro helmet but the back piece was thrown out and sits as wall art now.

Ace Cosplay I am a fan I like the clone trooper helmet
Ace Cosplay can you do a shadow trooper helmet because well go look it up
Ace Cosplay thank you for doing this is the person on messenger by the way lol
...is it possible to learn this power?
Not from a Jedi....
Bobo Squiggilywinks it is not a power the jedi would teach you
Have you heard the tragic tale of Ace Cosplageus?
It's not a story that the star wars fandom would tell you.
Join the Dark Side......
3:51 The frame alone looks like it could be a sweet helmet all on its own
Coldblackice yeah, agreed
Are you wearing this helmet in your profile pic?
''2-1b Medical Droid'' Fecking hell you knew that name off the top of your head?
Daniel Henry I was impressed tbh
Daniel Henry
So do I... I feel like such a nerd. And I’m not ashamed!
Damn right 😆
Ace Cosplay
Nerds unite!
I may be the biggest star wars fan i know yet I just called it a medical droid i never knew 21-b... and I even knew R2D2's original name was artoo

Hello there
You are a bold one!
Outstanding! Absolutely the best and most accurate detailed conversion I have seen yet. You my dear, are an artist.
The Huge visor annoyed me when I was a kid. Until now there's a way to mod the visor to make it smaller. And I would totally buy that helmet. If you make a bunch and sell them.
19:55 looks like the mandalorian armour from the clone wars
Ollie Wakefield jango
What is with hasboro and huge visor's
drawing with Alex
Its made for kids
They cant see much if the visors where small
Who cares? Screen accuracy > kids hitting their heads. The kids have a helmet on. What's the problem?
Meep Changeling
The helmet cant protect the kids from everything
They can still get hurt
So yes it cares
Meep Changeling what if he's out on the street and crossing the road?
Danni Horrocks or she or transformer he or transformer she
I got this for a Christmas when I was like 10, it was the coolest thing ever. Makes my sad I guess I lost it at some point.
I actually own this helmet (which also had lost it's rangefinder) and thought it looked less cool on me then it does in the movies. You have done an excellent job modifying the helmet into a more serious piece and the process was fun to watch so all in all great video.
The shape of the helmet and visor at about 15:00 reminds me very much of the way mando helmets are in the clone wars series. Fantastic job!
That was awesome! I used to be a model-maker and only did three scratch-builds (Silent Hill characters). I was mostly self-taught, but never did anything as elaborate as this. I love boba fett
No shit, Sherlock.
Ooh that reminds me about a movie that’s coming out called Sherlock nomes and it’s gonna be cringy
Scout Trooper Jango fett is my fav!!
I mean boba fett is really cool but I think he’s a little overrated
Idiotic Incel’s I love ur positivity
Excellent work! Lots of dedication to your task. That paint job was really something.
That paint job is fkn AMAZING!!!!!! What a finish. I bow down to your skills!!!!!
I still have 5 minutes left to watch, but I just had to paus to tell you that the latex-paint-peel method was absolutely BRILLIANT!

If you had kept the 5:49 visor it could have turned out a little bit better
That was awesome! I'm so glad this cropped up in my recommend feed. Most impressive!
Admiring the details on the helmet so much with all that. Astounding work as usual Ace!! 👍😊
Incredibly impressive! I envy your skill! Thanks for taking us through this project.
3:53 reminds me of the cover for Fallout: New Vegas
Fantastic job. A toy helmet converted to a brilliant show piece.
I love seeing people do things that make them happy and it’s always easy to watch when they are good at it
Looks awesome
I have seen a few fans do this , yours is deff the best fantastic video

Really nice conversion a huge improvement.
This is the way
7th doctor is in the background (19:37) Doctor who is awesome!

Could you try a jango fett one? I personally like his helmet more than boba's because of how clean it is haha
No one cares about Jango or the Prequels...they never happened!!!!
then you must really be ignorant haha
@@robdcollector2808 You seem to have not seen the clone wars TV- show. That show is the Best Star Wars I have seen, and it is technically a prequel. If we are talking about something that shouldn't exist, I recommend the sequel trilogy. Those are some of the worst movies I have seen.
New homeowners prepare to move...
Instead of latex, try Vaseline. I use it for many layers of paint and it comes right off without damaging the paint job.
Great job! These do seem like a good starting point, even for a modified Mando helmet instead of a Boba Fett.
Brilliant video. You've got some mad talent, well done! I own 2 of these helmets but never even held a dremel or sanded and painted anything so mine will have to stay as they are but really cool to see what they could become!
This is incredible! Excellent job!
SO cool my friend. Amazing work. You have earned a sub
looks fantastic for a conversion project GREAT JOB! should display nicely

Edit: Incredible job btw!
Took lots of time. Time is like a pit. Do you know what else is a pit? Sarlac pit. You fell into the Sarlac pit of time.
Damn! I wanna see if I could turn it into the Pre Visla helmet
thenintendoplace it’s a really similar shape
Underrated channel, incredible work I love it !
3:51 lowkey reminds me of some WH40K space marine helmets
Mah man , kinda looks like a titan even isn’t it ? For the emperhaaaaaa!
Aw yeah totally
Awesome job, Boba has such an iconic helmet design
Love your old school portable DVD player on the background. 😄. Oh, and the helmet is cool too.
So glad to see you using a respirator, and a decent one at that. I see so many creators on UA-cam not using protection even when sanding resin etc. The dust from these toxic materials can cause cancer. Thanks for the great video. 👍
Very well done! cant believe this video exists now i will try this myself thank you!
All though that visor isn't as thin as the film's, I would say that it is spot on for the animated holiday special boba fett.
I like how u fixed the part of the visor that covers the eyes, but the middle part is supposed to stay wide. Otherwise it just looks more like Din Djarin’s helmet from the Mandalorian
this is so pleasing to watch oml
Well done really good job. Bet the painting needed a lot of patience !
That is a very cool vid, very damn good job on that Boba Fett helmet.
It was funny that I came across this video because after lockdown, me and my dad are going to make a Fett helmet, but out of foam. Looks awsome
A body shop guy from work told me that using butter for the scratches etc, then paint over it, then just wipe butter off with the top layer of paint comes off so easy, and wont destroy or lift under layers of paint. way better than latex.
to get the plastic plugs out, drill a pilot hole in the plugs, insert a screw deep in the pilot hole , then hold the screw with pliers and pull out.
Just the liquid latex trick is so insanely worth it, thanks a million!
You did an awesome job! Phantastic!
Impressive, most impressive
Fantastic job. Alot of dedication.
I have spoken
I love listening to you talk while I watch. Idk it's weird but I like your voice
Good job! Looks like the holiday special Boba Fett
Amazing transformation!
you made an incredible work there.
that was a really good job you did on the Helmit....Awesome!
excellent technique. Been wanting to do a Mando cosplay for a bit, but was wondering how to get all those realistic scratches. gonna keep this video in mind when the time comes to paint!
Oh, I waited for this video! Glad you made that!
Great vid keep up the ace work ace!
A great improvement to the toy.

Beautiful work, I love it! Bonus points for Dragonfire on the portable DVD player in the background ;)
When you said the bare frame would make a great character design at 3:58.
I went and did a screenclip, I'll be back with a character sheet.
Take Captain Solo To The Cargo Hold
Star Wars with doctor who on in the background. My two favourite things😄
awesome work bud!! hasbro needs to hire you to design their stuff!! i would buy your version long before theirs
Why couldn't it look like this already? Kids like accuracy too!
They do, put parents don't like kids falling down stairs because they can't see.
i wish hasbro still mad these style of helmets.
So do I
looks really good
Incredible job i love the idea you did with liquid latex
¡¡¡EXCELLENT WORK!!!
I don't have an interest in cosplay, but I love to see people put their skills to work. You are awesome! Subbing because I love great projects.
sucks they don't sell them anymore or else I would've definitely tried this
Niño... eres un genio artista. Felicitaciones.
I love the work you did but personally i love how the standard helmet looks but this would be percfect for a after the sarlacc pit boba cosplay
turned out great! nice job!
Wicked cool paint job
Looks awesome! Great work!
the hasbro visor is absurdly big
I loved your Boba Fett helmet! Nice job!
Found one of these in a flea market. Had to buy it. No regrets.
Queen of scratch, an ideas...
Bravo from France !
