Believe it or not 'arnie' or her real name Radan is a mare.These people seem to enjoy taking a risk. I once worked in stables and in a moment of not watching a notorious biter I got bitten on my forearm so badly it damaged the nerves and I couldn't move my hand for 6 months. So never take horse bites lightly lol.
Yes. Have to watch horses they can hurt you badly if they want.
Horse Guards is a tradition that brings total joy to so many people, especially young children. And we all know how kind and careful the guards are with youngsters and the disabled people who visit. The accidents are rare. The London incident would have been avoided if the contractor had a person on the street safeguarding the operation. It was a one off in thousands of days of exercising horses on the street. As for tourists who get bitten or thrown to the ground, they are forewarned. No sympathy. People these days are far too inconsiderate and selfish. They can take their pictures, one by one, keeping a safe distance from the horses. I hope that the army will come up with a solution to people crowding the horses and making them anxious.

Sorry folks this is not Arnie...Arnie is a solid totaly black horse..no white on His legs.....Arnie became very ill last June 19 of 2023. And was taken back in by the vet....and to this date he has not returned...I haven't a clue as to keeps saying this is Arnie..this one is just a good nipper..

I'm sure I can't be the only person who can see that the guards are inadvertently teaching the horses to bite. When someone touches the reins/bridle the guard shouts and jerks the reins. That's very painful for the horse. Eventually the horse figures out that when someone reaches for/touches the reins the reins are jerked, causing him a nasty pain in his mouth. He's also figured out that if he bites the people before they can touch the reins, he doesn't get a stab in the mouth. So for the hour that he has to stand there he feels he has to defend himself. Bite or be jerked. Reinforced by the fact that he isn't reprimanded for biting, he's found his defense. That has to be very stressful for him. Especially since he has people continuously walking by, hes anticipating the jab in the mouth. Also, one would question the wisdom of letting people feed the horses. Rat poison is cheap.
