I've played both these levels on Node before with Corridor Digital but a lot has changed since then and every turn there's a surprise. I'm constantly blown away by how fantastic this game feels now that it's finished.

Grumpy cat doesn't have a care in the world.
I can never tell if his "quiet yell" that he does all the time is just a quirk, or if he's just pretending and acting for the camera.
He's in an apartment, late at night, recording these on his own time after working full days @ Node, so we can enjoy the content. He can't express himself like he can in the Node studio (like we're used to).
He's being considerate of his neighbors and cats.. lol
The narration is recorded after the video is recorded. You can see his mouth isn't moving during the commentary. Any emotion in it is acting.

I'm quiet screaming because I was recording this late at night and I have neighbors who live beneath me. Next time I film it'll be during the day so I wont have to hold back!

I actually prefer the left eye recording because you can actually see whats going on instead of just looking at the back of a gun the whole time.

So when I was in the cell, I couldnt find out how to get him to walk to the button. I managed to get the other door open and then he started walking towards me so I instinctively started bashing him with the axe I found.
As soon as i got the axe i killed everyone except him, but i could figure out how to get that blue door open so i just went to the next island

Eric M there’s a lot of callbacks and I love it. There’s a model of the Duck Season house, a hover junker, references to Hover Junkers, that cat, and I’m sure plenty more.
I totally appreciate them repping their other games.
It’s not just rep, duck season teased that every sl0 game coming out is in a connected universe. In this case, duck season mentions the void and Monogon a few times if you dig deep enough
At 9:15 when the null dude ruins your plans and shoots the gun thing was hilarious 😂 oh and damn you should've been close by the reclamation bin so you could've put that wand thing that picked up the balls in there!
left eye recording looks better anyways since 60% of the screen isnt taken up by the guns scope
The music when walking up to the core is fucking epic. It gave me chills. Cant wait to play it all again to enjoy it more. Gonna take it all slower

Btw, loved this series. Just out of interest - you mention it's taxing on your PC (understandably as you're recording too) it'd be handy to know what specs your PC is to gauge performance.
I have a budget vr pc and I run this game completely fine, it’s recording VR that really messes up even god tier computers. I have a 1060 and an i3 processor of that helps

there is a way to record right eye via an obs plugin i cant remember the name of the one i use but i know its the same one swaggersouls uses and a few other vr streamers/youtubers

I spent an hour on that puzzle and didn’t realize that solution. I guess the games point is to find ways of doing things yourself.
Love the vids my man but I was wondering if you were always conscious of the fact that you hold the index controllers like a foregrip on every gun even if it doesn't have one. It makes the wrists all janky so i try to hold the controller horizontally lol
it bothered me at first but once you start playing the game, youre focused on other things. Id rather have my real life wrists comfortable rather than my VR wrists look appealing.
passing that last puzzle by bringing a plank from earlier... brilliant!

Honestly, I just assumed the camera was offset. There was no way you could've hit dead-on with a rifle at range without using the scope, plus, the pause between those shots implied you were lining up your shot.

BTW, something that I think would be sweet af is having some cool camos / limited edition / time sensitive LE guns in the vending type machines.
Someone has been playing too many lootbox/microtransaction games. Skins arent as interesting as youve been brainwashed to believe. Id rather see the shotgun put back into the game

I don't see the issue with having camos or skins on guns.
Normally I get Half-life vibes from this game, but in this episode, it was totally a Portal vibe. The cannon fight was light the boss fight against GLaDOS!

Guys use judo when you don’t have a weapon you don’t actually need legs for takedowns it’s all in the weight manipulation of the body. Based on the physics of homework’s a judo throw is possible

I feel like doing some sort of like summoner playthrough with the utility gun, like spawning fords and nullmen etc.. might also use the nimbus gun and see what’s inside the gravity core.
I haven’t really watched anything but his vr videos but this dude could definitely be a sf operator or some shit
My favourite thing to do is to play through to game myself a few levels then come here and see if you do the same levels differently or the same as me :P then rince and repeat. Great videos D

I just used the head crabs to put on the monsters in the cannon room when I didn’t have any weapons
I did the dungeon level by getting the axe on the table and getting the other axe from the blue key room and used those as my weights
You gotta use your feet more you keep fighting and forgetting you can move your feet haha
it was obvious that he was ADS (Aiming Down Sights).
specially in pt 2 because of how he used and commented on the acog sighted rifle. ther are multiple instances where he was clearly ADS.
i assumend that vr was recoded diferently that it was projected in the headset, i mean, in the headset is two displays, one for each eye, but in the monitor behind him was a "centered" display, a sort of "doom" display, meaning like an eye between the two. i was wrong it's just the left eye.

You could use the Open VR capture plugin to get right side view in OBS. Worked for me. That said, I thought about this *after* recording the whole game. LUL

Really enjoyed watching this play through so far, i've been watching Boneworks with anticipation. It's a pity the Valve index still isn't available in my country (aus) because all the other options just seem inferior in all aspects. As much as I'd like to try Boneworks for myself considering this was designed with the index controllers in mind anything less comes across like its a compromised experience. I can only imagine the same can be said for HL: Alyx when more details are revealed also. VR may have come a long way, but it's still inaccessible and overpriced for most.
Hopefully as more quality titles like Boneworks come out there's a bigger consumer push for better VR hardware at a less intimidating price-point that's at least available outside the US. Until then, it's still just a gimmick.
I also live in aus. Canada and Japan got shipping recently, it is getting closer. Hope it comes out soon, I seriously want this game.

just get a quest and start enjoying vr. Assuming you already have a capable pc. You talk about intimidating price point but you lust after one of the most expensive vr headsets for consumers. Get a quest, get playing boneworks.

You can put o the vr headsets in the game just like the NV goggles. Try putting on the ones in the levels
