I've played both these levels on Node before with Corridor Digital but a lot has changed since then and every turn there's a surprise. I'm constantly blown away by how fantastic this game feels now that it's finished.

Boneworks initial concept meeting:

@Thunderbolt Gaming seems to be its main inspiration from the crowbars ,headcrabs and mix of physic puzzle n combat. I like it 👍🏽😊

@@cyanoodle apparently they showed Boneworks to the Half Life Alyx dev team and they realized Boneworks put their game to shame so they had to re-think the entire game to make it more physical like Boneworks. and Boneworks used to be a lot more like Half life initially but Valve asked them to bring that down a little so that the fans wouldn't be confused over which game is the half life game. Boneworks is incredible and it has done a lot for the VR gaming industry. It is everything I hoped it would be.

My play through was over 8 hours long, I was not about to bash every ammo box open. Playing VR for that long is extremely exhausting

You get so much more ammo then you spend shooting it. 10-20 rounds plus for 3 to break it.... I know I was doing that on my playthrough that I just beat 7 hours ago lol.
@@Cerberusarms I actually beat the game in that same amount of time but all I did was use the virtual crouch button to lift boxes up and throw them down.

In case you didn't know, he is actually aiming down sight, but the recording is only showing his left eye
He should try switching hands once in a while.
Not only would it be better for cornering, but would let us see ADS a little bit.
JIMTOMAV the game has a setting to select which eye the spectators can see. Idk why D didn't select the right eye.

Man this game looks amazing, it reminds me of Classic DOOM the way the game plays, but also Half Life due to the way you can solve puzzles using the SCIENCE! All they need to add is a portal gun and this came would be complete. I love how tactical you have to be as well, some situations cause you to plan ahead of so you don't die instantaneously and others are just run and gun. Ammo management is amazing and Gun play and Melee fighting works fantastically. This game is the best VR game to ever exsist

He also jumps half the time.
I mean I jump a lot in some games when shooting, but thats to conserve momentum.

The game is actually quite difficult without the time slow. Like the shootout at the end of this mission has almost a dozen guys trying to take you down,

Also D: *Pulls the charging handle of his rifle every single reload including top offs
Yeaaahhh... ...he's spoke about this before, saying he'd rather make sure that there's one in the chamber than chance it, but it should be obvious when you've fired less than a quarter of a 30 round magazine that you don't need to charge it again.
@@stevenbobbybills you realize on an ar15 it doesn't matter if you emptey the mag or not right? the bolt is held back regardless. there's no reason to be fucking around with the charging handle.thats why the bolt release was fucking put there in the first place.

they do have some modded guns that have it tho and they are satisfying in the boneworks engine
when your pathi s blocked by wood planks you can run straight through them it makes me feel badass
I've been following the project for a long time now and I'm glad to see it finally released! Congrats on those devs they made a hell of a work to achieve this game :)
I was thinking that you could improve the "cinematic rendering" by either changing the screen input from Left Eye to right eye or aiming with your right eye closed (but I doubt that you'd enjoy this aha)
Saying this because when you shoot with your gun, as you're right handed, you aim with your left eye closed (the one that is actually recorded) so it seems on the video that you are doing hipfires all the time :p Making it hard for the viewer to understand if you actually are going to shoot or not .
I hope I wrote it well and not too confusing tho aha

i like watching D more because he knows some of the easter eggs and people who worked on bone works

I'm just barely to the train yard. this is a good! long game. it's nice most VR games are like an hour max.
Also I just saw the part where do you hold the door shut and the guy as soon as you should open the lock holy crap that was the realization that this game is absolutely awesome like what other game or what other system other than Vr That you could hold the door shut and shoot a zombie at the same time
~29 minutes in you can see real panic set in as D gets overwhelmed by enemies. great moment of immersion.
"Man this feels so good shooting the locks off." Very next sentence. "So this requires a key?"
This game is clearly special. Can't wait to play it.
what an era to be alive! vr games are so realistic and imersive. Now playing videogames can actually be fun and burn real callories. No more fat gamers!

I mean, against the melee enemies they cam be OP, but it's probably a different story for the ones with guns.

but i killed far far more enemies with melee weapons than with shooting weapons

Bro, the hand / gun animations at 38:21 look amazing!
They should add tracking for your feet, so you can kick down doors. Take it a few notches up and add tracking to knees and elbows for martial arts goodness.
I mean I wonder if they could do the same inverse kinematics as they do for your elbow and shoulder joints if they just had sensors on your feet, of course they can biomechanics for legs are simpler in many ways than shoulders and arms. Less DoF. It could require probably more lighthouses to track the ground area better or if you had high mounting locations for your current lighthouses. I was thinking the same, to be able to have the MP5 and just bash a door with my foot and breach in slow-mo. Cool stuff.
Dominic Beaudoin you can track your feet. I mean you got to have 3 extra trackers and equipment to hold the trackers which totals up to like 400 but you can calibrate it in the beginning level.

@@charlesgrove6905 Yeah, the goal is full immersion. I see a lot of games where you can do a lot of cool stuff with your arms and hands, but then your legs dangle like your character is a paraplegic or something. I am hopeful someday soon they'll make that part work too.

One thing that surprised/disappointed me about the game was the lack of firearms. There are plenty of melee weapons but only a handful of guns. Overall it's an amazing package but I would love to see some more firearms added in future updates.
I feel like the most of the dev time was focused on the core tech. Which is fantastic but now that it's out I am hoping to see more content updates/DLC. I am ok with paying for some good stuff considering the cheap launch price.
