Anyone with out a dumpbed regular cab, opening both cab fxdoors first makes it much easier to lift solo.
Thank you so much. I love my standard tilt cab but envy the crew cab space, so this is super useful info for me. I was under the impression that the crew cabs didn't tilt. in fact that's what I've seen posted in forums (jerks). I believe I may finally pull the trigger on that crew cab upgrade. Wish I'd known before the apocalypse hit.

This is the first cab over the company has ever bought and is by far the best truck.
Never had a problem with this truck, it’s very well maintained.
All the drivers love it and fight over it
We will be getting more in the future.
@@DavidsHowtosReviews Yeah, I noticed what looks like a flood of trucks popping up on craigslist for cheap lately, but I'm not anxious to leave the isolated safety of my farm to go used truck shopping in Detroit just as the it's becoming a pandemic hot spot. Got my eye on a 2006 NPR hd 5.2 crew cab with a dump bed.

Maybe the dealer can drive truck to your location so you can look at it
Just use a lot of disinfectant spray for the drivers area before sitting in it
Lot of car dealerships are hungry for the sales
I had heard the same thing that the crew cab cannot tilt. Happy to hear that was wrong info.
Yes very wrong
I do it all the time
Just be very safe about it!
This cab is very heavy.
And make sure you remove anything that will fall in the cab
Very good to know. Been wondering if the crew cab tilted up. 🙏

I figured I would post a video on this because there is no vids on this and even in the owners manual there is nothing on how to tilt the cab.
You would think this would be a good thing to let their customers know as it should be a good selling point .
How does the cab tilt up on a 2004 Dyna crew cab 1 Ton? Have one cant figure it out
Look for any bolts that mount the cab to frame. Those should be the support points.
There seems to be usually 6 points of contact.
The front hinge left and right
Two bolts after the front seats and to in tear.
If there are no bolts then there will be a locking bar or lever, keeping the cab secure to the body mounts
THANK YOU, im looking at buying a quad cab right now and am looking for the how toos
Not to many on the 4doors but they are the same as the 2 door
Just the cab is different
@@DavidsHowtosReviews the biggest question I had was how to access the motor. Thanks to you're video I'll be prepared
Seriously, I spent about 4 hours looking for this info.
(Not able to download a service manual at work)
Thank you for the great info. very helpful.
Glad to see it’s helping truck owners
Im so going to reconstruct with hydraulics and locks similar to a cabover transport from back in the day
I don't know why they just don't do that from the factory.
Like the 70's white cab overs
thank you as got Isuzu 300 crew cab 4x4 as see your air other place as my other round
From Australia
great information. Thank you
Hope your service goes well
Looks like a lot of work
4 bolts and lift cab
Not much work
What if you were going to replace the engine? Would you have to take it completely off or try and tilt it higher?
You can tilt it all the way but you will need to make a stand strong enough to support the cab and not break the windshield .
Then you can cherry picker it out from the side
Hi good video..
I have one question.. is the same job do for Mitsubishi fuso?
4 door from what I hear it very close
Does anything stop cap from going forward to far...I guess not since no lever lock on crews ?
I believe there is not.
the cab is so long you do not need to lift it up as high as the standard cab the angle that I have it at was fine to fix the exhaust bolts, replace alternator, spark plugs.
Cab would need to be a little higher to replace the water pump or something like that.
Just saying, in the box truck version, it's under the passenger seat.
What is under the pass seat?
I work on the box truck version also
It’s exactly the same
@@DavidsHowtosReviews I've done basic oil changes in the two door version and it has the levers like you mentioned, but on this box truck I was trying to research and came across your video. The box has a lip over the roof (it is 4 door) that makes it impossible for the whole front to lift.
I looked everywhere! I finally noticed a sticker mentioning oil maintenance and it was on the dash. I noticed there was a metal cover bolted together in the middle of the two front seats under the radio and figured that might be it but I really had a feeling that wasn't right. The brake fluid is accessed next to the steering wheel, the coolant is located in the rear passenger driver side, and etc.. Then I got smart and lifted the front passenger seat and there it was! I couldn't find any video or information on it.
I was so confused because you was right and I was looking at something completely different.
Yes this 4 door has only access panels in the floor
That large one for oil changes and some other things on that side
Just in case there is a black felt leash off the bar in back of seat in middle.
That is to hook on to the one lever to hold hatch door open..
You will find a hatch under the drivers seat and three more in the back under mat.
I had to look multiple times, an LS in a dual-cab truck

Yes they use the 6.0L GM V8
But this is stroked the rpms only go to 4K
For max torque.
We have two of these and they have the normal GM problems like the cheap exhaust manifold bolts that break in the head.
But they seem to last and get ok MPG.
@@DavidsHowtosReviews So stock in the states with a V8?
Ben TheGuru
Yes because of the really bad emissions that choke the Diesel engines, most of these come with a big block v8 that is designed for trucks.
Ford just came out with their Godzilla engine for the light truck/box truck/ dump truck. They are saying it has as much Torque as the diesel.
We are having a lot of problems with the emissions on these engines and the cost of the emissions jacks up the price of the diesels far beyond the worth of miles per gallon, and the diesels are not reliable and break down a lot.
@@DavidsHowtosReviews Thanks for that David, never knew. We only have hte Diesels over here in Oz. Considering that most run Cats and DPF that result in no soot and clean exhaust pipes, never really considered the use of Petrol in heavy vehicles.
Ben TheGuru
Yup
We have, DPF, DEF, EGR, EGR coolers,
We have had ok luck with the gas V8 engines.
But we are not a major trucking company and we do have Mountains they are more like hills,
The gas engines do use 87octane so it’s nice and cheap.
Isuzu tells you not to lift the cab for a reason
Mmm maybe to only take to the dealership so they can make money
I’ve done this many times
It’s a cabover they tilt that why they have hinges and all wires are in front so everything can pivot
@@DavidsHowtosReviews that's crazy cause I work at a mack Volvo Isuzu dealership. Your not supposed to lift the cab on a crew cab
The F super duty pickups were not supposed to have the whole cab taken off the chassis to do simple things but it’s the only way to service some things on a 6.0L
U do what u have to in order to get the job done
@@DavidsHowtosReviews sure but don't tell people who might not know what their doing to do this
Why do the single cabs have access but the crew doesn’t. They’re the same engine so how come crew cabs aren’t allowed but singles are.
