Sadly the main go-to whenever women get in trouble where they can't blame someone else is mental illness, because that means it still 'technically' wasn't their fault. My ex did something similar, she started off nice and friendly, but it was a pretty obvious shift when she found someone else in hindsight, but she didn't want to break it up because that would make her the bad guy in her head. So she decided to start being abusive and actively cheat until I decided to dump her and kick her out, before she was ready, once her plan was outted by a friend. Her immediate response to that was denial and trying to gaslight me, and when none of that worked, trying to pass it off as BPD (something she'd never brought up at all). It wasn't until even that fell through that she finally went berserk and I had to threaten police involvement to get her to gtfo.

I’ve had depersonalization for over a decade. She makes it seem like you’re not in control, obviously to get out of responsibility, but it’s nothing of the sort. You do feel like a “passenger” but in the sense that real life feels like a dream, not that someone else is making choices for you and you’re stuck watching. She’s not only a terrible person for cheating but using an illness as a shield. And I was 13 when I had my first episode, so it’s not like I was able to handle it better than her or something. And I never made radically different decisions. At worst, you go on auto-pilot.
@@mrshmuga9 I've been through something similar, "derealization" it's sort of the same thing in a way, usually if you have one you have the other. But essentially it's when you slowly feel like you're not in the "world" and feel more like you're in a dream, you get confused easily and constantly forget what you're doing because you lose focus on the world and the actions you're partaking in. You're aware of what you do but it feels so fake. I'm not like trying to hate or anything just letting you know there's definitely others in the same boat and that life goes on.
