impressive that TASBot could finish this game blindfolded while using the USB steering wheel unplugged and his little brother is playing
First reply!!! Fuck yes!!!!!
Glad they had a speedrun for the game of the year
I hope this comment will hold true to next year
SUPA SUPA SUPA
Super mario brothers 2, baybeee
did you know, picking up something increases toads base speed
Yes. That's what they did.
really? i wish they would have told us that
Yes, funnily enough I found that out before I knew how to super jump XD. I sucked at this game when I was small lol
That's not true. Pretty sure they would've said that if it was
Yeah it was explained before the video hit the first minute mark
I swear TASBOT never loses his skill. He's the ultimate speedrunner.
G.G꽁꽁 // Until actual AI finds ways no human ever could. ;)
Glitch’s commentary is on another level.
"Bite My Shiny Metal Tas!" God tier dono.
11:19 the commenter was basically rapping over the music without even realizing it, haha.
🔥Fire bro 🔥
On beat as well
Top 10 rappers Eminem was too afraid to diss
Omg
The most impressive thing is how this guy can keep up with the tas narrating it
The RTA commentator sorta just staring in awe and saying nothing really makes this run
Nobody:
Audience: *O R B*
4:29 -"bite my shiny metal TAS!"
What does the crowd keep yelling randomly?
the orb. its a meme in the smw community because the orb is an alternate level exit in a level, but this game has orbs in every level
And here I only ever played using the Princess character. Her hover ability was awesome
Me too at first, but Luigi became my favorite because of his jumps.
Beacher keeping it real as fuck💯
Why not just say Peach
Right on brother. The princess character is my personal favorite character in the Super universe
@@kimgkomg Have my like.
As a Toad main I appreciate this
I played this game as a kid, and goddam was it fun to watch Tasbot rip it a new one! May he live forever and destroy every game in existence!
14:03
People in the background: weeeeeeeeeeee
There is one man screaming orb every time there is a orb shaped object on the screen.
I played the hell out of SMB2 as a kid and I always felt it was the most polished of the Mario games... I honestly remember finding more glitches in SMB3. So watching this TAS and seeing all these glitches and exploits I somehow never knew about... it was fascinating.
That was a really fun run to watch
After 25 years, I learned that you're not supposed to finish that one level by walking on top of it(the one right before final boss)
damn this TASBot guy is really unlucky, he keeps getting no bonuses when finishing stages.
I’m glad to see that a lot of my glitch discoveries are put to good use for speed-run purposes.
Still unclear. Do you move faster while holding item?
Only if you're Toad.
Yup, that's one of Toad's benefits.
Nah but try holding something while running and you can run faster
I was not expecting that! Amazing speed run. It honestly blew my mind
So much to watch. Thanks Tasbot and crew.
So is the "orb" joke that people yell "orb" when there's an "orb" on screen? And that's funny because they're yelling the name of the object that's on the screen?
Great commentary
This crowd is wayy too entertained
Boy did I underestimate the time speedrunners can achieve in this game. I was thinking maybe 1 hour or more was reasonable 😂 Also, great run! It looks like this is a really fun game to speedrun aswell.
I really wasnt ready for the 21.12 donation. As a major Rush fan it made me both happy and sad. Happy that someone donated in Neil's name and sad because it was made in his name because of his death. Bittersweet, but mostly bitter. R.I.P Neil Peart (The professor)
This man got farther in two minutes than I ever did as a kid.
It's a bot playing, not an actual human.
That Neil Peart tribute donation was so awesome.
I dare say the orb meme is getting old.
Glitchcat is such a damn good commentator
the turbo comentary is even better than the tas itself lmao
this run was a mastapiece baby!
TASBot: You're gonna see some serious shit.
I never really played 6-2 before without Princess for the quick flyby. I guess Luigi can just give it a leap of faith the whole way to. Thanks for that revelation TASbot!
What does “RTA” mean?
RTA stands for Real Time Attack. Back in the earlier days of speedrunning, many runs used in-game time (for example, the time Pokemon records when saving or the time Metroid shows you at the end of the game). Because these times are often incorrect (and sometimes misleading - a 5 minute run could take 15 because the timer doesn't run during cutscenes), it gradually became more popular to instead start a timer from the point that you first get control and stopping your time the moment you lose control. So it's Real Time Attack vs In-Game Time as timing methods.
As I said, RTA is now the standard and very few, if any, runs still rely on in-game time. So it's now commonly used as a quick way to say "real human run". For example, a new glitch may be found in a game. However, it's so complex or precise that, while a TAS might find it useful to go faster, it's simply not possible for a human to reliably pull off. It's used in the TAS, but impossible RTA. That's how they mostly use the term in this video.
TAS= Tool assisted Speedrun
RTA= Real time attack
Game of the year
They messed up some of the enemy names, but this is pretty entertaining so I'll let it slide.
That's an Albatoss, not an Ostro!
Great fun to watch.
Game of the year baybeeee
You guys rule.
All of you!
@@Jadamhodges Thanks! I'll remind the whole team that worked on this that you said this the next time we get discouraged.
Nice TAS!
I remember I did one of the tas tricks as a kid by accident and got a turnip stuck on toads head
TASBot is just trying to get that bonus
This is wild.
I don't remember that many digging sections lol
Damn I thought I was good at this game.
This isn’t even a human being playing this game.
O R B
15:28 *GO WEEGIE*
lol
I had a knock off SNES controller that could press both left and right. The wires came unsoldered from the board and im still trying to find out what kind it was so I can get another
Who is this tasbot?
Why is he so skilled?
And how has he mastered so many games?
it takes longer for the beak to open than the actual level haha
Does anyone know if carrying something increases your speed?
I believe only if you’re Toad it will increase your speed
12:02
*(confused ORB)*
Incredible run!
6:35 WTF JAJAJAJ
So the pink birdo shoots eggs, the red one shoots eggs and fire, and the blue and green ones only shoots fire. Any one know if there's any slight difference between the blue and green birdos?
Gray and green Birdos are essentially the same, just palette swapped depending on areas of the game. There are no blue ones on the NES.
When only at the end do you realize a bot is playing 😂
Trying to understand what the crowd shouts at the end of the levels? Thx
OOOOORB!
Hey guys are any of these methods RTA?
R.O.B: *speed*
nice
What is the Pokemon thing they keep talking about?
Indian Here they did a pokémon blue tasbot run right before this
Oui
Poor Peach...
Orb!
Is that what they are saying randomly and if so why orb
HAWK
What do they yell ? Everytime he goes thru ? "Four" ?
I know your comment is 2 weeks old atm, and many people have responded the same question in other comments but if you are still wondering they are screaming "orb".
The screaming orb meme comes from a really old Super Mario World speedrun where the runner upon picking up the Magic Ball in the level Sunken Ghost Ship screams orb (The Magic Ball looks like an orb and upon picking it you finish said stage). Since then the meme has evolved to the point where when anything that looks like an orb appears on screen on any speedrun people just scream orb. One easy example of this is the orb that appears and is collected at the end of every level in this speedrun, hence everyone screaming orb.
Furthermore, everyone seems to scream "honk" from time to time. This is much more recent than the orb meme since it comes from the Untitled Goose Game which came out in 2019. As far as I know it's just because gooses go honk and that's funny.
Tl;dr: orb.
Tomas Oliveira Actually, it might have been from a question at 4:18 which was “Can TASbot honk?” Then everyone started saying “honk!”
😁 how did i start binge watching speed runs you ask?? Im here from Super Metroid
Orb.
WTHappened here?
Fiiiiiiiirst ~ what a fantastic run. Love TASBot.
ORB!
ORB
First comment??
Nope. Big yoshi
Game of the year
What does RTA mean?
Real-Time Attack - the opposite of a TAS, a standard speedrun done in real-time by a human being.
it means Real Time Attack
