Einat Wilf appears to have a far clearer understanding/perspective of the situation (than many others on the world platform) as it now stands for Israel!!
There was a time I though humanity was past antisemitism- because I haven't been looking. And because in actuality it's so bad one struggles to belive it's even possible... She has the courage to put it as it is tho. Also thought we're past waging wars without a clearly defined objective,sl since WW1 - can't define the enemy without first defining your objective.
@ True that, our knesset don't know how to compose policies, They desperately need Einat. However I also understand why Einat stays away from that circus for now.

I agree with so much of what Einat says. Unfortunately, heads of state have to sometimes play 4 dimensional chess. Its not always prudent to take what seems the right path. There maybe a goal down the road, a beeper operation. We who are not in the know, just don't know. But you just can't disagree with Einats words and sentiment. Am Yisrael Chai.
I agree with every word, BUT their ideology won't die. Which is why there will be no solution and war will go on. I'm with Dan Schueftan there. I as a German like to add, Germany always had the cultural background and history to end Nazism, surrender and realize the chance. Palestine has no background like that. All the best, long live Israel!
Business as usual. When it comes to Israel and the Jews, why should we expect this time to be different? But at least Israel can defend itself unlike anytime in the past two thousand years. Einat is her usual brilliant self. Thank you for this crystal clear insight.
Einat Wilf is areally insightful intelligent and thoughtful person. She 'gets it'. And she does not via 'ideology', but by assesing facts and reality. Her point about the real problem being what she refers to as 'Palestinianism' (the fervent ideology that unites the people around the vision of destroying Israel and what Jews have built) is right on. And yes all these double standards, where Israel was expected to refuel, send food and medicine to the enemy is crazy and not expected by anyone else.
Those kind of academic credits, political experience, 7 books relating to one of the most talked about , long time conflicts in the world..and Dutch public library of 4th biggest Dutch city does not carry ANY. This should tell you something about the influence of the anti "zionist" left in the Netherlands
Another indication..Israeli Comedian Yohav Sponder's performance in an Amsterdam Comedy club just got cancelled..they had been getting emails. The club suggested maybe better for "a jewish comedian to perform in a jewish location"..no doubt soon he will have his pick of an entire "jewish neighborhood" though he will have to wear a badge en route there..and better not take any taxis.
I must have skipped the pages in every history book I've read about WWII when the Americans opened "humanitarian" corridors after the bombing of Cologne and the British did the same after the bombing of Dresden. Once the enemy's hands went up and unconditional surrender terms were signed, food, fuel, and medical supplies poured in. NOT BEFORE.
I expect that the cease fire and prisoner exchange terms will be violated by Hamas sooner rather than later. Will this trigger a fierce Israeli response or simply a reset to the old situation? Will the failure of the current Israeli leadership be held to account by the electorate and replaced by a better alternative set of leaders?
@dr.lebowitzoffice3076 They give billions every year, and they send their r sons for r western educations. None of that lot are suicide bombers and jihadists. We have allowed them to hijack our colleges, and I hope that Trump will put a stop to at least some of that. Too many have ‘migrated’ to western countries, and look what’s happening!
I would love to dismantle this beautiful analysis point by point. Everything this intelligent woman says has a very clear answer. I'm just amazed at the audience. How could someone be so sick?
Trump has always proven that his first and only policy is to do what is best for Trump, in the short term and how does it look for him on TV. Expect no more.
The deal is like asking Israel to consider letting a Nazi camp commandant go with no means to track his future activities. The West should acknowledge what we already know about Qatar, which is also the mouthpiece for Iran. The American Democrat govt has been a huge failure and Israel is one of the casualties of its great moral void.
Well presented, cannot understand why Israel accepted this awefull deal , thought Trump was behind Israel, trust true plan will be revealed after 20 January?
I love Einat Wilf and agree with her on principle. However, I suspect there is more to this deal than meets the eye. For example, there was the normalization of relations with Saudi Arabia that was about to happen before 10/7/23, but after the war was under way, the Saudis were - at least in public - criticizing Israel for its prosecution of the war. Maybe Israel gets back on track with the Saudis as part of the deal. There is also, undoubtably, immense pressure from the families of the remaining hostages. Maybe they finally determined how many are still alive and that all of them will be released, and if they keep any to use down the line, the deal is void. Likely Israel will be involved in policing Gaza. I can't imagine agreeing to leave and have no presence at all. Maybe Netanyahu thinks this move is best for him personally (I don't know how this bodes for his chances of remaining in power which I would put at very unlikely given that it was on his watch that 10/7 occurred). There are any number of contingencies that might be in play here. I can't imagine that the deal that we are seeing is all there is to it.
@dr.lebowitzoffice3076 that was 20 years ago , someone would have to be at least 35, maybe they didn't vote at all, the thought of bombing kids to me just feels wrong all types of wrong.
I don’t speak Hebrew but maybe the word you were looking for in English is scorn? Like you think so little of someone and their abilities you just sort of overlook them with scorn…
There was a lot missing from Einat Wilf's presentation: 1) She complains about the fact that Hamas remains in control of Gaza. Where is her critique of Netanyahu for not formulating a post-war endgame? President Biden, Saudi Arabia and the Abraham Accord States, Egypt, the EU etc. have all called for a "revitalized Palestinian Authority" which recognizes Israel to be the factor in control of post-war Gaza, while Bibi refuses to consider it.. 2) She invents a term called "Palestinianism" and says that Hamas is its executive arm. And says all the Palestinians don't want Israel to exist. But the PLO, the official representative of the Palestinian people and its leading component Fatah recognized the State of Israel in the Oslo Accords, and Hamas is not a member of the PLO. 3) She makes no comment about the fact that it was Netanyahu who encouraged Qatar to send $30 million a month to Hamas in order to strengthen it and weaken the Palestinian Authority, a policy of divide and rule, so that there would be no Palestinian address for possible negotiations with Israel over a resolution of the conflict. 4) She says the problem is not what Israel does, but the fact that Israel is. No mention about the ongoing Israeli occupation, and that the extreme Likud right-wing government platform begins with a statement that all of the land belongs only to the Jews, with no place for Palestinian self-determination within part of it. What Israel is includes of course it's right to exist. But what Israel does includes the occupation and the denial for the Palestinians of the same rights. 5) And she neglects to mention that what a majority of the Israelis are worried about today is that Netanyahu will find a way to get out of the commitment to negotiate a phase two of the agreement which would enable the remaining hostages to be released, because he's afraid that Smotrich has threatened to leave the government if the fighting isn't resumed after the end of the first phase, which might lead to the fall of his government.
as long as Israël continues to consider itself as part of the western world, the western world will use their allies(terrorists) against Israël. It is a basic mistake line up together with the western world. And that is an internal israëli issue, not an arab or western thing. Look in the mirror and accept to be Israël and not a western country.
There is a little problem though. It is not possible to fight a war against an ideology. Fighting against the Palestinian identity is tantamount as fighting against Judaism. It is not possible to convert others' from their identitarian beliefs through force. On the other hand, Palestinans have a very clear and legitimate goal, at least: they want to be free. And they want to be free having their rights recognized unconditionally, without negotiations. This is legitimate because rights and freedom are not to be negotiated. They are unconditional and a priori. They cannot be obtained in exchange for something else. But being free, for a people, means freedom to have the ideology they like. Freedom of the Palestinian people is simply incompatible with a demand that they change their narrative and national ethos. If they have to change their ideology, then they are not a free people.
Harsh reality is the truth that Einat has said from day 1. We got a wrong and the powers that be fell for the twisted lies. You don’t supply your enemies with anything. We can’t afford the price we’re paying. I’m heartbroken. But the bravery of the Israelj people is something to behold. In spite of betrayals by Western governments who should only be with us not backing us into a corner.
I think Einat is great, but she really misses the mark here. Her proposed (more hardass) strategy for recovering from the Oct 7 pogrom was simply not realistic. The world is against Israel, and the US administration was craven. I honestly stand in awe of Bibi's statesmanship. I do not think a single person on Earth could have done a better job. Israel is in a precarious position in large part because of the mass emigration of Muslims to the West. The vast majority hold deeply antisemitic beliefs, and they are exerting significant pressure on foreign policy in Western countries, and even in the US. I'll add that this deal is perfectly acceptable. Utterly destroying Hamas was simply not an achievable goal as long as the world insisted on endless resupply of Gaza, which would then be taken by Hamas and distributed in order to maintain its power. Hamas has been reduced to an insignificant security threat. Although it should be able to make rockets and fire them sporadically, those can be dealt with by Iron Beam when that comes online later this year. And Israel has already taken the most significant step towards preventing Hamas from reconstituting as a more significant terrorist threat, which is banning UNWRA. Israel must stay laser-focused on keeping the UN out of Gaza, which otherwise provides a funding source for terror and an international shield for it.
@dr.lebowitzoffice3076 As an American I fully stand by that! It’s insane what they kowtow to on campuses. These kids should be booted out of these campuses when they march and chant with terrorists. The school administrations never say one word pro Israel or stand up to the antisemitism we’re sick of seeing and hearing, and when it comes to the enemies of Israel all we hear are crickets. They love that money, over and above every moral fiber they don’t possess, obviously. They hold the doors open wide to let the foxes into the henhouses. Biden Harris (Obama) ruined this country. I do not know what on earth Trump is thinking with this hostage deal. I am a Trump supporter, because were it not for him we’d be seeing the end of days on this earth. But what he’s thinking in this deal, I cannot comprehend. I saw a news piece that said he was dancing to ‘YMCA’ with the Village People, with THIS going on??? Please! This is NOT a time for dancing and juking around onstage. Such a somber time at this point and the Village People are dragged out of their years long retirement? PLEASE. God bless Israel. I keep you in prayer every day. And to Einat, I’m glad she was a main speaker in the Brasil Paralelo production of the docu film ‘From the River to the Sea.’ I have screamed about this to everyone I know, and brought it up in my church. What a powerful documentary.
Israel should not rely on other countries to save them. But put on the big boy pants and determine it's one destiny. Netanyahu could have said no to this deal.
4:25 everything starts with a strategy ending with normalization, in the hands of politicians we are driven by the events. Trying to make sense of a state of entropy is impossible. We need to go back to leadership.
Almost 500 days and Israel is still begging for its hostages back? Israel wins the battles and loses the war. Israel is still dancing to Hamas’s jihad flute.
