    Just as an FYI, B&H only sells ONE version of the Weebil, the base kit that only includes the gimbal alone. The 'creator kit' version has the phone mount included but you won't be seeing it on B&H specifically.

    I am a Weeble owner. I've had challenges with occasional jitters which has been frustrating. You think you have a perfect shot, only to find out later there has been a sudden motor movement. I have spent a lot of time working with settings, but I think it's the nature of the gimbal. Also, it's important to point out some quality concerns. Straight out of the box I had a problem with the plate tightening screws. Zhyun was kind enough to send a replacement part from China. Also, it would no longer start up after about 4 weeks of use and needed to be sent in for repair. The insured shipping (at my cost) is expensive. If I had to do it over I would definitely buy something more rugged and time tested. I would only recommend to someone who absolutely needs the small size and has some money to burn for eventual repairs.

    I'm going to be one of those annoying people who comments "I was here at under 400 subs!" in a few months when you blow up 📷😆 I love my weebill lab, but your comments are very true. Im also assuming the live view won't work on android because I can't get it to work at all yet!

      Hey i am a little worried about the wobble i’ve seen in other vids will an a7iii kit lens and rode videomicpro plus work well on this?

    • @SePark
      @SePark  6 років тому +2

      hi @@jimmyhidalgo2680 , Sony FE 28-70 mm kit lens is only 295 grams. Rode mic will make it more top heavy but that kind of light setup should be no problem with this gimbal. I have seen some wobbly sample footage, and I think it really depends on the operator. I walk like a ninja and keep the gimbal close to my body as much as possible. That setup should not be a problem. It also helps a little if you tilt the gimbal towards your body while walking. Complete 90 degree angle transfers your feet contacting the ground. I'll try to do a tutorial on this in the near future on my channel. Thanks for asking!

    Se Park's "Real World Test" = 7 minutes of talking and 8 seconds of Slo Mo (Sigh) gimbal footage. So for all the mathematicians out there who wondered how much actual real world test's we see in this video I am here to tell you that the answer is: ZERO

      @@SePark Haha, to be fair you've made an excellent video about the quick release and several features. Also touched on how cumbersome it was to upgrade the firmware as well as certain aspects of the motors which is good!! I think what a lot of people want to know is if the Weebill is actually stable with a setup close to the rated 6lb's (3KG) No other reviewer has mentioned the motor setting e.g high, medium or low when doing these tests. With my Crane 2 I thought I needed my motors set to high when using my A7III + Zeiss 35 1.4 combo but it jittered a lot. I set it to medium and funnily enough it performed much better. Perhaps your next video can include other tips like this to say which motor setting works best. Also another thing is that with the Crane 2 Zhiyun didn't officially say that you can control the ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed on Sony Cameras using the gimbal controls however there was an easy trick that made it work (Using a Canon cable and changing a few settings on the A7III) If you can try this trick to see if it works with the Weebill or not then I think you will be one of the first to tell us and I'm sure a lot of Sony users will want to know :) Keep up the videos though. Please do the additional video that you talked about where you go over the settings. I have bought the gimbal, and also find the app a bit confusing with the phone mode, and the phone controller mode. I want to make the panning slower, and the dead zone larger to avoid those sudden pan moves that happen with older gimbals. I'm interested in seeing what you think works best.
    Totally agree that it is crazy that you have to exit the Phone Control mode to get to the Phone View mode to change those settings.

      I ended up getting a lighter 1/4 in mount handle from Amazon. It's called CAMVATE Handle. My thought behind it was I would never stand up the Weebill from the upper side and the handle is light enough that I don't mind just having it mounted the whole time. Currently making another Weebill video so I'll show what this looks like on a video. Whatever handle you get, if you have big hands, there is a chance your hand won't fit between it.

    Hey man great vid, i just got the weebill and can’t seem to get smooth shots (unlike with my ronin s) even with a light lens setup (a7iii+50mm1.8). The “Six-side Calibration” asks you to position your gimbal + camera in some very awkward positions, any thoughts on that? I’v been using gimbals since the 1st ronin so i know how to balance meticulously so what could i be doing wrong...

    • @SePark
      @SePark  5 років тому

      Thanks man! That six side calibration is a joke. I tried it, and it took me 10 minutes trying to do yoga with the gimbal. I just uploaded a new UA-cam video on this topic, but you are brave for using a 50 mm on a gimbal. Best lens for this gimbal in my experience so far is F2 Sony 28 mm prime lens.

    • @DaddyVSDomi
      @DaddyVSDomi 5 років тому

      Se Park Lol yes brave but also necessary as we do a lot of events and a lot of time we need the range to capture people’s expressions without getting too intrusive. Also the 28mm and the 50mm Sony primes weight almost exactly the same which makes them a great pair for run and gun as you can switch between the 2 without the need to rebalance the gimbal. Anyways Brandon Li made a test with a 50mm on, and it does look rather shaky so we might trade the Weebill in for the Crane 3 as soon as it gets on sale here. Thank you for the reply btw. For the quick release problem - have you tried it with the peak design pro plate? It has adapters you screw on each side to make it wider so it is compatible with manfrotto rc2 systems. I'm hoping this makes it wide enough to work with the weebill plate.

    • @SePark
      @SePark  6 років тому

    So, the Arca-something from the Webill can be used on Arca compatible items but not Arca compatible items can't be used on the Weebill? Did I get it right? Also, do you think the Weebill is as good as your previous Crane v.2 in stability and smoothness? Thank you for your review!

    • @SePark
      @SePark  6 років тому +1

      Hi Matteo. You got that arca thing right. Compared to Crane v2, it definitely felt more powerful. Finesse and smoothness was about the same with a lighter setup. The v2 can't handle the heavier lens so that was the big difference. I think Weebill is getting some bad rep because somehow the marketing people were able to put 6.6 lbs of max load on paper. There is no way this thing holds 6.6 lbs. People are putting way heavier lens thinking it's going to hold up really well. I think the acceptable levels is around 3 lbs, which is step up from Crane v2 where anything heavier than 2 lbs was not really acceptable. I have couple of shoots coming up and going to do a followup video. Thanks for watching and for the comment!

      @SePark  6 років тому

      Thanks Andrew! Glad you asked that. I am hoping to get a hold of 16-35 mm for my next Weebill video. You may have seen that you have to remove the eye-piece on the camera to make that fully work. I'm going to see if I can get some counter weight to balance it. We'll see !

    • @darwinmacon
      @darwinmacon 6 років тому +1

      I have the 16-35 gm and it has to be pushed so far back to balance, the eye piece hits the motor. I removed the eye piece and operated it with the 16-35 gm and the 35mm zeiss 1.4 and although it fit, it was not smooth panning. The gimbal really seemed to struggle and jerk. Also, it comes with a charger and cable, but no ac adapter to plug it in. I had to use my phone charger, which the manual specifically says not to do. I really wanted to like it for the size, but I'll be returning mine.

    Great review thank you, I just bought this baby and had to buy the phone holder separate which cost me £49 then heard you say the wifi is crap so probably going to be a waste of money :( I will be using it with the Canon 80d and a 28mm f2.8 prime which combined weighs around 2.2lbs so it should handle it with ease. What is a bummer at present, I've tried everywhere to get the "quick setup kit" which will be more convenient than the phone holder but can I find one.... Of course I can't you have to buy the gimbal as a "Creative Package" at £799 ...... So, a little naughty there Zhiyun but I get it you have to whip our pants down wherever possible...... :((

    Awesome review. This is probably one of the best videos that actually show real world footage and comments of the smoothness of the Weebill Lab. I’ve seen some other reviews and their videos footage were pretty shaky so I’m relieved this gimbal can produce smooth enough video. Can’t wait for mine to arrive. Btw what is the heaviest payload you have used on this that still produces smooth results? Also did u used heavy calibration setting for the combo with zeiss 35mm f1.4?

      @SePark  6 років тому +3

      Hi Kim, the heaviest I tried is with the 35 mm F/1.4. The motor strength setting was at "low" so there is plenty of head room. I feel like lot of the demo videos, the operator is not using the gimbal right. Gimbal is supposed to smooth out the operator's movement. If the operator is not smooth to begin with, then it gets shaky even at the max motor strength. If you watch my recent wedding UA-cam video teaser, those were all shot with a weak Crane v2. If Crane v2 can do it, Weebill can do better in my opinion. I told Jimmy this, but I'll try to do a gimbal smoothness technique tutorial video sometime in the future. :)

    I am wondering I should buy it or not, cause I saw some video comments from youtube said it is the worst in terms of footage stability and its payload is not what ZHIYUN said actually. but also, there are some good words of it. Totally Confused.

    • @SePark
      @SePark  5 років тому

      Hi Andy, I understand your confusion. After using it every week for over 3 months now, I can tell you the size of this gimbal outweighs all the app issues. They fixed some of those issues with new firmware updates. If you have a mirror-less camera, it will support most lenses long as it fits physically inside the space given. If you use an adapter that makes your lens much longer, it may not fit. I would say stability goes down after about 3 lbs of load also. Within that weight, it's smooth. If you want to get a gimbal that can easily fit in a bookbag there is no better gimbal. Hope that helps!

    Is it buggy like the Crane 2 when it comes to phone operations? I really love the Zhiyun gimbals but their app is the worst... Also I saw some shaky footage from other reviewers and I hope it is because of the big zoom lenses they use with this gimbal. If it holds my A7rIII with 28 2.0 and 85 1.8 I will be happy with it. If it can hold my Mitakon 50 0.95 with follow focus... that will be great! It is kinda my top wish. The portability - it is a revolution, I really love it. Hi Simeon, I just co-shot a wedding using the gimbal for 80% of the shots I got using Sony G Master 16-35 mm which is even heavier than the 35 mm F1.4 prime. It handled it fine. I have a theory on why we are seeing some shaky UA-cam footage for this gimbal. It's going to be on the next Weebill video I'm making right now... but I'll just tell you also. That axis lock is so new, people aren't use to it. I accidentally left my tilt axis locked and the gimbal doesn't freak out and lets you use it. After the shot, I wondered why it was shaky and found that "oops" I left the tilt axis locked. The other wedding videographer that night did the same thing by accident so I'm not alone. But yeh you're absolutely right about the app. It's cool to play with it but not robust enough for a paid run and gun job. BTW, like your lens collection!

    • @SePark
      @SePark  6 років тому

      If my math is correct, your heaviest lens setup weighs 753 grams with the camera. That should be a piece of cake with the Weebill. If Sony launches a7000 with the Z-battery you will still be fine. My thought is that Weebill's strength is its size with heavy load support. If you do a lot of travel with your gimbal, definitely consider changing. My smaller Crane v2 actually doesn't fold up well and takes more space in my camera bag compared to the Weebill. From feature and load capacity stand point, Weebill is not that much ahead that you will drop $600 for it since you have the Crane 2 (not Crane v2 right).

    always love all of your tutorials, and reviews. Unfortunately my zhiyun crane v2 started on fire last week and it was perfectly balanced. Very scary, frightening and disappointing. Not to mention painful! Worked wonderfully up to that point. but that has me gun shy about Purchasing more zhiyun products. I wrote to them about what happened and not even a reply, Nada. Not very reassuring or responsible on their part. I have not heard of this happening to others but having it happen once is enough. I lived it as did asdic the frightened people on the dance floor. I only had it on for less than 10 minutes. As I said, it was perfectly balanced with a sony a6500 on it blue a light lens. I am a long time wedding videographer and the sony a7 line and the crane have been a huuuuge part of my shooting. I have a wedding coming up Dec 8th 2018, as a crane shooter, and I have got to find a good, compact, and powerful replacement. Manfrotto 501 plates on all my tripods and monopods. Has the weebal lived up to what has been printed about it in your eyes? Have you ever heard of the crane motor burning. Thanks so much for posting this. Great video. Any updates you may have would be so appreciated. I truly want to like Zhiyun again but having this happen once and no response makes me question their integrity

    • @SePark
      @SePark  6 років тому

      Wow Gigi, that's horrible. So sorry that happened. I have not heard of a gimbal motor catching on fire! One thing is to have that kind of equipment failure, but another to not get any response from the company. I understand why you would be hesitant to get another Zhiyun product. I think Weebill is great for its core functionality: small and powerful. I just co-shot a wedding with it, and it worked as it should even with the heavy Sony FE 16-35 mm. I'm currently making a second Weebill video regarding that. Problem with Weebill is that it got everyone's expectations way up high with everything they printed. The app is underdeveloped and not user friendly. I never used the app for my Crane v2, and I don't intent to for Weebill wedding shoots either. I got this gimbal because there are no other gimbals like this, and I think you may be looking at a similar situation. I can't recommend something without knowing everything about your setup, but I can say at least for me Weebill is working out well from my last 3 paid jobs. Hope that helps. Hi by anychance do you think it would hold up good with my gh5/ and my 60mm lense? Total weight is about 2.6lbs

    • @SePark
      @SePark  5 років тому

      I had my friend try the GH5 on my Weebill on one of my VLOGs, but it was a tight fit. His setup was GH5 with Sigma 17-50 mm F2.8 Canon EF Mount with the Metabones adapter. 2.6 lbs weight is fine, but the concern would be what other lenses can you fit it in the Weebill. Also 60mm is a hard focal length on a gimbal to make it very steady especially on a micro four thirds. Weebill is a better match for a shorter focal length. If putting a gimbal in a back pack is a must, it may be worth the investigation. Otherwise, I usually recommend Moza Air 2. Hope that helps!

    • @SePark
      @SePark  6 років тому

      Hi Fauzan, I haven't tried it with 24-105 but since 35 mm Zeiss weighs 630 grams and Sony FE 24-105 weighs 663 grams, performance should be about the same. 35 mm felt fine when going in underslung mode. You probably won't be able to extend the lens out much, making it be stuck around 24-28 mm. In my experience, heavier the lens is, you have to spend a lot more time balancing it properly. I did film a concert with 24-105 with my older Crane v2 with lower weight limit with careful balancing and foot movement so I would say Weebill can handle 24-105 long as you move like a ninja.

    • @fauzanjamahat1
      @fauzanjamahat1 6 років тому

      Se Park thank you for the detailed info! Yeah reason being, i have zhiyun crane plus. Balancing with 24-105 on it, i hve to balance the gimbal while it extends half way (arnd 50mm) to allow it to balance properly even while i extend or retract the lens. But even so, it makes the camera to be way back and the eye cup touching motor of the gimbal. Was hoping this weebill could probably fix that issue.

      @@RuthHurst I feel like all the Zhiyun gimbals right now are in their own leagues. Crane 2 (not v2) is such a huge gimbal but would handle much heavier loads. I would take the less powered Weebill any day when I am traveling. For travelers, being able to just take out a gimbal and start filming within a minute could be the difference between getting more shots and not getting the shots. It may come down to the price too. Crane 2 is getting cheaper. For example in the US they are discounting $300 off the Crane 2 at B&H website right now. That's hard to beat. You'll also have to make sure that both Bluetooth and Wifi needs to be connected to the gimbal. Hope that helps.

      Yeh that quick release plate isn't perfect. On the next Weebill video, I'll try to talk more about the plate. I know you may have figured it out by the time I make that video but if you think you can describe it in words, I'll try to help out.

    Does wireless transmission work in Sony a6500? How did you connect the Weebill Lab to your phone and camera? I tried several ways but it does not give me the live feed. Are you getting also heating on the bsck motor? Mine is heating too much and just stop working, even if I balance the gimbal correctly.

    • @SePark
      @SePark  6 років тому

      Hi Robert, I haven't tried a6500 but you would think it has a pretty good chance since it works with Sony A7 III. I would start with seeing if the cable is working by seeing if the record button on the gimbal works with your camera recording capability. If that works, make sure both bluetooth and wifi is connected via the phone to your gimbal. Only having bluetooth does not transmit the image. For the overheating, my motor is not even warm when using about 20-30 minutes so there is something going on there.

      Hi, one of the comments that helped someone was: right out of the default settings, it didn't work for me until I change my Sony A7 III camera settings. Under Setup (tool box) page 4, USB connection needs to be in "PC Remote" and USB LUN setting in "Multi". If you already have that setting on your camera, I would suggest making sure that cable is tightly in with the "L" shape micro USB cord in the gimbal side. I have an A73 with a Zeiss Batis 18mm F2.8 and I can barely get it to balance ... and If I add a Rode VideoMic Pro Plus ontop also, forget it .. the payload is still way under but I can't get it right. any suggestions ?

    • @SePark
      @SePark  6 років тому +1

      Sup TEM! Sorry for the late response man. I'm used to getting like 8 comments per video. This is crazy! LOL I just shot a wedding with Sony G Master 16-35 mm on this Weebill no problem (it's twice the weight of 18 mm). Well I had to remove the eye cup but I think this should be able to handle Batis 18 mm without a sweat. Are you using a taller plate by any chance? Buddy of mine tried to use his own quick release plate, and this gimbal isn't very forgiving if you raise the plate height. The space we get to mount the camera is so small. Not sure if that was your issue, but I'm going to make a second Weebill UA-cam video shortly talking more about my experience.

      Thanks Billy! It just happens that I just uploaded a new UA-cam video with that exact lens and what that experience was like. There is a special teeth mechanism that locks it in and no one has that except Zhiyun.

    Is there any kind of auto calibration feature in case the horizon gets crooked?

    • @SePark
      @SePark  6 років тому +1

      Yes, there are two calibration tools: one is 6 point calibration tool which was pain to do since you basically have to position your gimbal in 6 different ways (can't wait till I do a video on this lol) and the other method, which is so much easier, is the Motor Calibration. You just simply input how many degrees you want to correct. The second method worked for me.

I basically told them the picture on their website when I bought it did not have the phone mount grayed out. I'm guessing they can tell when you ordered it. If you ordered it prior to their website picture change, they probably send you one without much conversation since it is offered free now. Either way, definitely worth the try.
