These Salewa Wildfire Edge boots make it to numerous online lists such as best waterproof hiking boots, most comfortable hiking boots, as well as winning a few awards!
So, what do you guys think about this Salewa Wildfire Edge GTX review? Would you consider these boots as your main hiking boots? Would you get them as your Ultimate Survival Boots? Let me know in the comments below! Thanks for watching!

How is the arch support?
I have Salomon quest 4D, I’m so happy with them, I’m getting another pair but stock between Salomon salewa wildfire and Salomon quest element, which one would you recommend please?
which ones did you buy?
Quest and quite satisfied with them
Theses boots look a little cheap in this colour option, and looks very narrow fit. I have just purchased the Rapace GTX and wanted to get these boots for summer use and more easy climbing in warmer weather and may work in urban and light mountain use. The laces look very weak and may fail in mountain use so may look at something different. I waned a light Approach boot to use along with my Rapace for different weather and usage.
Outstanding review on these boots. The only things that are a issue and dealbreaker are the laces and lace connection points, don't like the upper gaiter making the boots more tricky to put on, and the fitment looks on the narrow side... However, your review was excellent just needed more info on fit/sizing.
I'm glad that this was helpful! Thanks for watching! Yea, definitely narrow, tighter fitment. Excellent for a 3-season, class 4, some lower class 5 terrain, in mild conditions, comfortable down to about 40-35 F. Would have been even better if they had semi-auto crampon compatibility, but unfortunately not. The newer Ortles do though, which I think makes them superior to these, plus they come with two different insoles for fitment. Not the most comfortable track boot though, so for longer approaches, I'd recommend a dedicated approach shoe for comfort.
@@UltimateSurvivalGear Thanks so much for your kind reply and information. See you on the mountain 🏔️ Summits .
Kindest regards…..👍👍👍🗻⛰️🏔️
I have the low varian of them, I use it for work in warmer temperatures, about 6 monts of the year, this is their firs year and they have been apsolutly reliable, and ensure you I stress boots in my work a lot, hard terrain and a lot of ledder climbing, kneeling etc, the laces wont fail
Why couldn't one use crampons with this boot?
How do you compare this boot to the Salomon element ?
I would say these are more mountaineering boots, Element are more backpacking, more versatile outsole for different terrains. These have a bit stiffer outsole. Both are excellent quality boots though.
Which one you recommend more ? Salewa Wildfire Edge or Wildfire Edge Mid GTX ?
I would say it depends on the activity. If you are planning to do some mountaineering, backpacking, I would go with the Mid GTX. If you are doing light hikes, trail running, then Edge Low is just fine.
@@UltimateSurvivalGear cheers
Any idea how these hold up to stepping on cactus???
We don't have a lot of cactus here in FL, but we do have a lot of spiky and sharp stuff on uncleared trails. These handled everything great so far!
Is it useable with semi automatic crampons?
No, for semi auto crampon compatibility, you'd want to check out something like Crow: alnk.to/fayvTxE
Why would you say they wouldn't work?
I heard these fit smaller than usual, like if i am a size 9, you have to get 10, is that true?
Yes, I would say with most of the hiking boots get yourself at least half a size bigger so that you have a little bit of room in the toe box.
I really like your reviews and your Criteria of your reviews. I like that you show them on-foot, and show the insoles. I wish people reviewing footwear would mention what the volume of their feet 👣 are. Do you have a Narrow foot, Regular width, or Wide? And does that specific boot 🥾 suit a certain foot shape type. ✌🏻
Great point! I will definitely implement it into my future reviews! Mine are regular and I typically prefer a tighter fit whenever it comes to my boots, especially hiking boots.
@@UltimateSurvivalGear Sounds like we have the same lower/medium volume feet 👣. I need, want, and require precision, performance fitment. If you can check out my top picks, Asolo: Fugitive GTX 🥾, Salomon: Speedcross 5 GTX 👟, Cross Hike Mid GTX - my Concept 💭, but Salomon didn't execute them the way I requested, X Ultra 3 Mid GTX, Arc'teryx: Acrux TR GTX Boot, Aerios FL Mid GTX Shoe. I think you will dig all of them. 🤙🏻
