Have the same at moment, volkswagen lupo 1.0. The RPM moves up and down. When the engine temperature is getting hotter it is more. When engine is cold, nothing. The speed moves up and down too.. From 60kmh to 20, from 20 to 80km/h and so on...
Hello,really great video. I have similar problem with my car Vw Passat 7.When is cold the engine the rpm drop down to 400 rpm,after that normalized. He doesn't do that every time. Could it be from this sensor G28? thanks
Salutare.si mulțumim pt video m-a ajutat enorm la localizarea lui . La azq trebuie demontată galeria de admise ca sa ai acces. Mare atenție senzorul este intepenit( lipit) de carcasa din cauza temperaturii. La mine s-a rupt de la mufa și cu greu am reușit să-l scot.
Eu n-am desfacut altceva decat surubul ala. A trebuit sa il misc de cateva ori sa faca joc. Am avut noroc ca nu era blocat prea tare. Bine ca ai reusit sa-l scoti! :)

salut, foarte de folos filmuletul, se pare ca multi au probleme cu senzorul ala, poti sa-mi spui daca ai avut cod de eroare?. Ai verificat cu VAG com-ul, ce eroare ai avut...sau mai bine spus: ai avut?...Sunt unii ce zic ca a fost stricat, dar n-au avut stocata vreo eroare, cumva era stricat, dar nu de tot. Salut, cred ca ar arata ceva coduri / erori dar la mine nu arata vre-o eroare. Din log - vezi in video - era clar ca rpm o lua razna cateodata. De acolo ecu reactiona aiurea. Detalii in video. E interesant ca video-ul asta are anumite perioade din an cand e foarte cautat - trebuie sa fie legat de temperatura ma gandesc. Schimba senzorul chiar daca nu esti sigur. E ieftin si il poti schimba singur fara probleme.

My Audi does this exact same thing. Was the car progressively harder to start? Would the car drive fine after letting it run for a bit at a standstill? Was the fuel economy suffering before replacing the sensor? I ask because my Audi has similar symptoms and I'm starting to nail it down to the crank position sensor. Thanks.
+Zack hey, I didn't check the fuel economy that time. Few months before this, the engine will stop while driving, randomly and very rarely, maybe once every 2-3 months. After replacing this it stopped. The only way to be sure that this is the problem you have is to use a scan tool and log the engine speed from start to a 5-10 min drive. For me, the engine speed was logged with 0rpm for a moment while driving... that was really impossible, the car was moving. The scan tool might find other problems too while checking for errors. Hope it helps.
+Zack I haven't tried letting it idle like that. Was not fine, As far ad I coult tell the problem was happening when changing gears maybe or at a certain engine speed. But they could fail in different ways.

I have the same exact problem, however the only error vag is giving me is Camshaft position sensor (G40), I replaced the sensor with a new one, but error is not going away. Can find anything else possible that could be making my polo do this. Any suggestions? PS: the speedmeter needle is not moving while driving the car. (It's been like that since I bought the car). Any suggestions?

When you log the engine speed try to drive around if you can and look for some crazy impossible readings. Mine was logging 0 rpm sometimes and that’s when I just changed the sensor and drives perectly since then.

Sounds right, log the engine rpm. If you see some weird reading its the speed sensor. Worth trying. While typing this my coffee started boiling and almost spilled but got it in time :D

Remove 1 screw then use a screwdriver or your finger to press the tab on the connector. Push in, press tab then pull it wiggling left right while pressing the tab. Best to use your fingers as a screwdriver might break it if you force it.
The car had been sitting for several months. Charged the battery. Car started right up but speedometer, odometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, gauge lights, radio were not working. I pulled the fuse for the speedometer and it was fine. Put the fuse back in and everything turned on and started working fine. It all worked for a couple of days and then everything but the radio suddenly stopped working. Radio still worked. Pulled the fuse again, no luck. Checked all fuses. All good. Disconnected and reconnected battery. Nothing works, including radio.

@@IONHowTo De 3 ori mi s-a oprit motorul in mers la 120 km/h, s-a aprins becul de ulei(roșu) si dupa cateva minute am dat cheie si a luat-o instant, ramanand check-ul aprins in bord dar disparand si acela dupa vreo 2 zile.
Senzorul e ieftin si merita incercat daca s-a oprit motorul in mers si nu ai alte probleme cu temp/ulei. La mine nu arata dar e mai low cost. :D Cauta diagrame pt. motorul tau. Cauta dupa codul motorului nu doar capacitate.
@@IONHowTo Mersi frumos, le voi cauta. Tare mi-e teama ca se afla undeva sub tamponul motorului din dreapta si nu ma voi baga sa il schimb singur in cazul asta..
For this engine, you just remove the electrical connector and unscrew 1 bolt that holds the sensor. It may be stuck, try to wiggle it a bit. Other guys have had trouble getting it out, see the other comments. On other engines it should be similar just the shape of the sensor may be different and the placement of the sensor a bit different but it will be where the transmission and the engine meet.

Salut! Nu sunt sigur. Poate o problema cu inductia. Scan obd2, vezi daca are misfire. Daca nu crank sensor. Cand apesi acceleratia se balbaie un pic, aia seamana cu crank/speed sensor. Pune scanner si da log la engine speed si mergi cu ea. Daca vezi ceva imposibil in log, schimba senzorul. 😬
Pleaca din prima mereu dar o ia cu turatie f mica nici nu se ridica acul poti sa nu meri de cate ori se invarte :)) si dureaza cam 3-5 secunde sa isi revina, are si trepidatii mari
Poti afla sigur Cu VAGCOM conectat in timp ce conduci sau pe loc. Cand apare daca vezi turatia din logul vagcom ca arata ceva imposibil cum ar fi zero rpm intermitent. As verifica: 1 bujii, 1 bobinele de inductie, filtru/pompa benzina, injectoare. Pune vagcom si vezi daca apar erori.
buji noi ngk. fise noi ngk, pompa noua bosh,filtu nou mann, tester nu am dar o sa vad dee und eiau , erori nu are dar log nu am facut. tot ce am schimbat am schimbat din alte problleme nu pt asta.
+3mariusx incearca sa faci log pentru turatia motorului. Dupa, importa csv-ul in excel si vezi daca apare ceva ciudat acolo. Incearca sa faci log si la temp. Motor. Coolant temperature sensor. Poate e ala.
+Jnilsson27 wa easy to remove for me. Just make sure you've removed the screw and wiggle it a bit. I guess you could use a screwdriver and pliers to get more force in there but try not to beak it 😅
Dragos Ion Tried wd40 and some heat, wiggle and pulling. Nothing have worked and now it's broken 😅 the drill is next in line 😳 thx fot the upload and reply!
+Jnilsson27 thanks, the old sensor doesn't matter as long you can pull it out without leaving pieces behind. 😅 A chisel might work to cut one side of the sensor and then pull it out. The sensor case is all plastic.
The f*ing thing i finally out of there. Had to torch it out with the gas welder haha. Got it lit and after a little while i heard a loud pop and somehow it popped out of there. Some kind of overpressure in the bellhousing from the fire i guess.

There is something a bit similar to that near the oil pan - under the MAF sensor but it looks like just a dummy plastic thingy. Maybe someone else knows what it is.
Yes i think that somebody out there knows what is it, but if it's not the crank sensor or knock sensor or map sensor then i don't nèed to know what is it :)
Hi! I've got a very similar problem on vw polo 2000 AKK engine code. My engine is cutting of sometimes only when it is cold and I had the same rpm drop when push the gas pedal. Now it is better but still have the problem sometimes not every time. I do not have any error codes! After this cut off all is fine. When the engine is warm I have never had any problems. icomironov For me it was intermittent and NO ERRORS. The thing that confirmed it was driving around with vagcom logging the engine speed for 10 min. later looked at the log in Excel and there it was... from 700 to 0 then 1000 again. Try to a log.

Easiest way is to unbolt the inlet manifold and hold it back so you can access the crankshaft sensor fron above.

N-am patit asa. Nu stiu ce poti sa faci. Senzorul nu e scump.

Log engine speed in the obd2 scanner. Problem here is with the crankshaft sensor 😅

Problema era dupa cum se vede, turatia o lua razna. Nu erau erori.
Si eu patesc la fel, si nu porneste decat la a doua cheie. Ai schimbat singur senzorul? Stii cumva daca trebuie strans la un anumit cuplu?

In general, senzorul asta e pus unde motorul se cupleaza cu cutia de viteze.
@@IONHowTo De 3 ori mi s-a oprit motorul in mers la 120 km/h, s-a aprins becul de ulei(roșu) si dupa cateva minute am dat cheie si a luat-o instant, ramanand check-ul aprins in bord dar disparand si acela dupa vreo 2 zile.
Senzorul e ieftin si merita incercat daca s-a oprit motorul in mers si nu ai alte probleme cu temp/ulei.
La mine nu arata dar e mai low cost. :D
Cauta diagrame pt. motorul tau.
Cauta dupa codul motorului nu doar capacitate.
@@IONHowTo Mersi frumos, le voi cauta. Tare mi-e teama ca se afla undeva sub tamponul motorului din dreapta si nu ma voi baga sa il schimb singur in cazul asta..

Not sure if I understand what you mean. You don’t remove the crankshaft. Just the sensor.

For this engine, you just remove the electrical connector and unscrew 1 bolt that holds the sensor.
It may be stuck, try to wiggle it a bit. Other guys have had trouble getting it out, see the other comments.
On other engines it should be similar just the shape of the sensor may be different and the placement of the sensor a bit different but it will be where the transmission and the engine meet.

Poate o problema cu inductia. Scan obd2, vezi daca are misfire.
Daca nu crank sensor.
Cand apesi acceleratia se balbaie un pic, aia seamana cu crank/speed sensor.
Pune scanner si da log la engine speed si mergi cu ea.
Daca vezi ceva imposibil in log, schimba senzorul. 😬

Poti afla sigur Cu VAGCOM conectat in timp ce conduci sau pe loc. Cand apare daca vezi turatia din logul vagcom ca arata ceva imposibil cum ar fi zero rpm intermitent. As verifica: 1 bujii, 1 bobinele de inductie, filtru/pompa benzina, injectoare. Pune vagcom si vezi daca apar erori.
buji noi ngk. fise noi ngk, pompa noua bosh,filtu nou mann, tester nu am dar o sa vad dee und eiau , erori nu are dar log nu am facut. tot ce am schimbat am schimbat din alte problleme nu pt asta.

+3mariusx incearca sa faci log pentru turatia motorului. Dupa, importa csv-ul in excel si vezi daca apare ceva ciudat acolo. Incearca sa faci log si la temp. Motor. Coolant temperature sensor. Poate e ala.

Just make sure you've removed the screw and wiggle it a bit.
I guess you could use a screwdriver and pliers to get more force in there but try not to beak it 😅
Dragos Ion Tried wd40 and some heat, wiggle and pulling. Nothing have worked and now it's broken 😅 the drill is next in line 😳 thx fot the upload and reply!
+Jnilsson27 thanks, the old sensor doesn't matter as long you can pull it out without leaving pieces behind. 😅
A chisel might work to cut one side of the sensor and then pull it out.
The sensor case is all plastic.
The f*ing thing i finally out of there. Had to torch it out with the gas welder haha. Got it lit and after a little while i heard a loud pop and somehow it popped out of there. Some kind of overpressure in the bellhousing from the fire i guess.

There is something a bit similar to that near the oil pan - under the MAF sensor but it looks like just a dummy plastic thingy. Maybe someone else knows what it is.
Yes i think that somebody out there knows what is it, but if it's not the crank sensor or knock sensor or map sensor then i don't nèed to know what is it :)
Try to disconnect it and start the car, see if you get any errors when doing an obd2 scan.
Hi! I've got a very similar problem on vw polo 2000 AKK engine code. My engine is cutting of sometimes only when it is cold and I had the same rpm drop when push the gas pedal. Now it is better but still have the problem sometimes not every time.
I do not have any error codes! After this cut off all is fine. When the engine is warm I have never had any problems. I have changed many things!

icomironov For me it was intermittent and NO ERRORS.
The thing that confirmed it was driving around with vagcom logging the engine speed for 10 min. later looked at the log in Excel and there it was... from 700 to 0 then 1000 again. Try to a log.
