  • In this week's episode, we talk to researcher and professor Keith Baar, Ph,D., about:
What to do when you have injuries to your tendons/ligaments
How to support and maintain healthy tendons and ligaments
Collagen use - does it work?
Keith is the head of the Functional Molecular Biology Laboratory in the Department of Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior at the University of California, Davis. He is a molecular exercise physiologist and is leading a team of researchers attempting to develop ways to improve muscle, tendon, and ligament function.
The goal of his laboratory is to understand the molecular determinants of musculoskeletal development and the role of exercise and nutrition in improving health and performance. To achieve this goal, he and his team work on muscle, tendon, and ligaments from 2- and 3-dimensional tissue culture, in vivo wild type and genetically modified animals, and humans.
His study interests include the interplay between nutrition and exercise and the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) in the maintenance of muscle mass; the role of a ketogenic diet in improving age-related declines in muscle and brain function; and the role of different types of loading on the development and mechanics of ligaments.

Keith baar is an excellent communicator and keeps honing his skills as time goes on. Very helpful info load the tendon when injured through isometric , mobilise it , collagen and gelatin are showing decent utility but more research is needed .
