This song means ALOT to me it reminds me of my self aged 15 I lost all my family an no one wanted me so I packed my bags an stuck out my thumb and left Cornwall for London it difficult for people to understand how a jung lad slipped through the government security blanket for kids like me an I went to London I didn't no anyone I did things I'm not proud of.. But it made me who I am today. I experience different cultures different people I then hitchend to Brighton an had an amazing 29 years living in Brighton I fell in love with an Irish lad an we had 28 wonderful years together so much laughter in our life's we then moved back to Cornwall near the town I lived in an unfortunately he got cancer an died I'm alone now it been difficult especially getting use to sleeping alone again after 28 years. So a shitty start to life but I have had 28 amazing years with a very special man.. But this song take me right back to that time I decided to leave .

I often wonder what Jimmy Somerville is doing these days. This is my firm favorite song by him,and he sure has amazing vocals. Wow! So glad that this is an extended version of the original. Over 9 minutes of timeless 80s music!! As was previously said, the build up to the BPM is truly stunning :)
I heard I guy commented that he seen him in London as some street busker was singing his song and being the top guy he is he surprised the lad singing and joined in with him , had a crowd instantly then thanking the young lad gave him inspiration and money
i do not pretend at all to know what it is like to have to hide your true nature, or to be mocked for it. but the slow build up to jimmy finally shouting "cry" at 2:45 makes me feel how cruel it must have been for a young gay man in a rough city like Glasgow in the eighties. Absolute timeless masterpiece.

Yes, I know the original for flip's sake!!!! but they said "makes you wonder what's happened to music" implying that this version was made first, and then, somehow, after an era or more of popular music, the album version was finally released which was worse, along with the rest of pop music which has gotten worse. This obviously doesn't make sense since the two were released at times too close to each other for a general degredation of popular music to have taken place between them.
