Congrats on the Super Tenere 👍 I have an 18 ES and love it. My previous bike was an FJR which I rode for 92,000 miles. As you ride the S10 more you will know you have made a great choice in a very versatile bike.

At 6,4 this motorcycle fits me best , great touring bike and good for fire roads. Fuel economy is ok for a big bike , 42 to 53 mpg us.
Super reliable, was built to take on the BMW GS
In my opinion it's best value for the $ In big bike sector.

Just bought a 2012 with only 2000 miles on it! Looks brand new!!!! paid 10 grand. The luggage was still in the cardboard boxes.

Welcome to the club... I've had my '05 FJR for 9 yrs now.... love it! However, picked up an '12 Super Ten a few months ago. The difference in ergos is substantial but the engines don't compare.... the FJR has spoiled you/us. Congrats!

Congrats. Have had my s10 almost two years now and love it. Debated the fjr but I enjoy the occasional gravel road and haven’t regretted my decision. Enjoy it 👍🏻

I just got this same bike - 2015 S10 ES / went down to Austin Texas and rode it back roads home 300 miles to the north DFW area in Texas. Super bike - mine came with a lot of Alt Rider / Touratech extras and Cyclops lighting upgrade w/ the light bar. It also came with a Yoshimura RS4 slip on exhaust and it sounds incredible. Congrats on the Super10!!
I'm taking it on a Big Bend trip soon and I'm looking at tires. Michelin Anakee Adventure / Dunlop Trailmax Mission - still not sure

You have two of my favourite bikes

I've had both as well. Didn't like the seating position on the FJR so I didn't keep it long. Now 2 Tenere's later I have 124,000 miles on them combined and looking for my third.

I recommend change the original exhaust for Akrapovic exhaust (in my ST have it). The sound can be loving you 👌🏻. And you will have more punch 🚀

I know what you mean. I have a 2007 Fjr and I’ll keep it. Other bikes will come and go but not that one. If I had any dirt within 59 miles of me I’d probably get that exact bike. The super tenere es just seen like a good value for what you get. It has enough power to get out of its way and enough suspension and electronics to eat up some miles.

Nice vid. Had an 07 FJR. Hard on the knees for me and narrow handlebars that the SuperT fixed. Road bumps and cracks felt on the FJR are non-existent in the ST.
The ST is a much better camping machine, but doesn't have the exhilarating feel from the engine.

Make sure you put traction control on setting 2 (and OFF for sand).
Under the right conditions the super aggressive traction control will put you down (like on hill climbs).

This is interesting, I had exactly what you describe happen. Going up a slight muddy hill in the alfalfa field the S10 just quit chugging along. Felt weird and I didn't know what was going on except I just stopped. Then remembered the traction control. Switched from TC1 to TC2 and sure enough was able to skid along up - paddling away - to the top. Definitely going to want better tires if I ever get more serious about off-pavement adventures.

You smell mud burning. Not oil. Enjoy your bike sir. It's a great choice

Saw you on the fb group. Have fun with your new s10. Its a very capable bike in many ways. I did a couple of 1k+ km a day on it with the wife as passenger, everything ok. Very capable touring bike, if you fit some knoby tires you can do some mild off road. You should fit a metal skid plate either way. Regarding other extras from what im seeing you have it all: the side deflectors, the crash bars and highway pegs, the screen looks like a puig tall touring screen, the seats, givi top box plate, side case carriers... I didn't notice a aux plug?! You need one that is connected directly to the battery if you want to use a plug in tire inflator. The factory aux will burn the fuse if you try to use it there. But it works just fine for your phone or gps. Loving your fjr as well. But in comparation the s10 is more versatile. Even if it lacks the fjr power it will get you there just the same. Here in Europe i usually keep it on the freeway at 160-170 km/h, and thats loaded with passenger. Enjoy and be safe!
Edit: saw you don't have the windscreen stabilizers. They will help a lot to prevent the windscreen to wobble like crazy in heavy winds, and when going with speed. There in the USA i think you can get a pair from ladlesportadv.com

Good advice - yes the aux plug up by the gauges is only a 3 amp fuse.

I have a 2015 Concours 14. It’s a rocket ship! However, I can’t ride the dirt roads here in Colorado! Thinking about adding a Super Tenere or a Klr 650.

I was wrong! I have Rox risers, not Helios. Helios are on the FJR.

What kind brend of seats on the fjr1300????

    • @SwampGeezer
      @SwampGeezer  3 місяці тому +1

Russell Day Long. Expensive, but extremely comfortable. I tried everything to make the stock seat work: gel pads, roller pads, etc. Nothing really worked. The RDL seats are good for hours of riding for me. But boy, yes they were expensive.
