- Relaunching a Flysurfer Soul 6m2 in deep water from a beginner’s perspective.
The wind was around 12 knots.
I tried different scenarios to see how the kite reacted while seated with leading edge down on the water:
1 - pull one backline
2 - push the bar away and wait for the wind to inflate the kite
3 - pull both front lines yanking back a few times
4 - pull both backlines out above the floaters
The kite responded only when I pulled both backlines as if I was hot launching it in the power zone and then raised from water at enough heigh so I could pull one backline and turn the kite to fly up. - Спорт
i love the magic of foilkites relaunching after they´re twisted like crazy :O. Good job! with the Soul you can take your time as long as the leading edge doesnt get hit by waves and water gets inside. From my experience, when it is on the water with the leading edge down, it is always best to reverse start. To get tension in the line it is possible to sit on the board and paddle backwards slightly (depends on the board). i practised that a few times without the kite, made my life a lot easier in low wind^^
That is a very good tip. I will try next time. 🤙🏽
Awesome tips, Carlos. Keep uploading more videos likes this one.

20 лет назад также парафойлом на воде водный старт делал. Как в прошлое вернулся!!!!

I like how you hot launch backwards, i’m like wait, that’s no LEI.
Great video and good relaunch! It looks like 12 knots wind was only high above the water and maybe only 4-6 next to the surface. What I can't understand is the reasoning of hope that if wind peeks up it will inflate the kite. It could work only in leading edge up situation. You got leading edge down, so air inlets are in the water.
And for the future: take in account the wind gradient. Means keep the kite at least 5-7 meters away from the water surface even during loops. This was exactly the reason it crashed: less wind = slower loops.
Thanks! Yes I agree with you but as a newbie on foil kites I only had a few relaunches and had not realized what you mentioned. I tried to cover most scenarios to see by myself what works and what doesn’t so I can build some practical experience. And also thanks for the wind gradient tip. It actually makes a big difference on such light winds. 🤙🏽🤟🏽
Excelente material. Parabéns
Obrigado! 🤙🏽🤟🏽
Good relounch... but I would have done in another way... soul is a magic kite, I just swim back creating apparent wind leaving the bar in the water, it will do 99% of the job, then you choose between 1 back, fronts or reverse fly as you did 😉
That is a very good tip. But how do you keep close to the board? Sometimes I dont relaunch right away because the first thing I do is reach for my board to not go straight on the lines
@@cefirmeza i usually don’t care a lot about the board 😂 foil board is usually downwind from you and can be easily reached with a downloop. Otherwise you can push it a bit upwind from you, or copying your style (maybe the safest) just sit on top with the wing very deep, swimming back with the arms while sitted is enough to create some resistence
@@filippoi.4138 good point. I asked because the kite is also pointed downwind. If the board reaches the lines, game is over.
@@cefirmeza totally agree! I do in 2 ways.
A) is down on a side and I just swim back
B) is near the lines, I reach the board, I push on a side and I do the same stuff 😬
I sometimes don't the luxury of having WHITE CAPS
This is our low season. We have white caps all year. 🤙🏽🤟🏽
