Maybe her house is crooked because it's like that episode of The Simpsons where the foundation of their house shifted and caused it to go lopsided, so Marge had to get a job. Hence why this hun is hustling so hard.

"Anti-hustle people have given up!" No, honey, we burned the hell out. I work a job I love, and I keep it to a fairly strict 40 hours. But I ended up in a leadership role by accident, and it absolutely wore me out. My doctor put me on medical leave literally the same day I went to talk about how I was exhausted. I'm doing much better now and know I don't want that level of work responsibility, but I had to learn the hard way like a lot of people because hustle culture tells you you always have to be doing more. Take it from me: No, you do not. If you like your job and the idea of responsibilites of the next level don't sound good to you, you don't have to fight for the promotion. Just enjoy where you are and let work be work.

I have a friend who really wanted to start a business. She called tons of big business centers/stores/vacation rentals and offered cleaning services. She paid for an LLC and now, she's contracted with several local businesses and has hired additional staff. There are ways to be your own boss without selling your soul or scamming people.

Found a new role at my job (a pharmacy) that allowed me the time to heal while still making the same money. Network marketing would never have allowed me to do that. And hustle culture is pushed by people at the top to get you to do more so they can benefit. So many of these people are going to have whiplash when they hit middle age and realize they don't have the millions they thought they would because they worked hard. Not saying don't work hard, just keep in mind upward mobility is harder now than ever and you don't want to look back at your life and realize you should have prioritized actually living it for yourself.

The "if you really tracked your hours" crap is what gets me. Time trackers are easy to find and a lot of them are free. Anyone in business should consider using one. I'm an indie author. I track my hours to see where I spent my time. Was I working on the plotting? Writing? Editing? Marketing? General Admin? What time of day did I get the most work done? Was I being distracted by something? Why do I do this? Because this is a business that I want to make money from! This girl acts like there is no way to track her working hours or that being in PJs or with your kids makes it something other than work. Complete BS

When she says that YL is the only thing that can fund her life, that just highlights her greed. She wants a large income that doesn’t match her experience and skills. She could get a regular degular job, but then she couldn’t live as lavish as she wants to. She could go to law school or medical school and make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, but she doesn’t want to put the work in for that.
People who get into MLMs need to acknowledge that they were basically looking to “get rich quick.” Unwillingness to acknowledge that makes them susceptible to getting into a similar situation in the future.

I find that MLM huns really like to take the concept of gratitude to a toxic extreme. Like yes, gratitude is supposed to help you flip the script in your mind so that you are remembering the positives of life and becoming more solutions-based and content with the small things, but also thing that you can’t complain is unrealistic. the concept of gratitude doesn’t work properly if you are not acknowledging the difficult things at the same time. If something in your life absolutely sucks and you’re able to acknowledge it and find solution then you should do that, you should just try to think of the positive only.

I have a well paying job x2, both sales jobs and I also sell Scentsy from time to time. Most of the time it’s just so I get a discount on the stuff I already buy. My mom’s friend started selling this in like 2008 or something before I even was aware what an MLM was. For the record I can’t stand MLMs, Scentsy just seems to be less toxic than most lol. And I was already buying wax from them anyways so getting it discounted works for me. I’m also not delusional in thinking I’m making millions from selling wax and warmers. I actually use it to get introduced to more people for my real estate business. The world is run by MLMs, so it’s way easier to meet more people doing one. The wax one is pretty harmless in the scheme of them all. I don’t agree with the nasty mess that is the skeezy sales “girlboss babes” making these women who actually can’t afford the sales minimums and end up buying product themselves to stay in the game, and guilting them into working this as if it’s a real job. It’s not. Essentially this is the cheapest lead generating solution for someone doing real estate or selling insurance.

It's killing me every time she says network marketing. Network marketing and multi-level marking are so different. No MLM is network marketing. Network marketing is when you have a business or service and want to meet people who can refer clients. Take me. I do have my own business doing massage therapy. I can network with yoga instructors, gyms, physical therapists, and other wellness professions to send each other business. It becomes a trusted word-of-mouth advertising and benefits both parties involved.

14:23 That she says there's nothing else that'll fund her desired lifestyle, but then goes to mention only network marketing companies. As if that's THE ONLY THING out there that's available.
It just reminds me how these people think this is their only option in life. They're either incapable of thinking broader or just in a panic situation of "I have to make this work" that they aren't seeing other (better) opportunities -- the cost-sunk/time-sunk fallacies.
Even for someone who wants to stay at home with their kids (and I personally think parents need some time apart to be a person outside of being a parent -- I know I'm a WAY better mom when I get space), there are so many other options to pursue. Freelancing in any capacity is an option, but if someone doesn't want to take that risk or build up enough brand awareness or do the outreach necessary to get clients, there are work-from-home jobs that pay so well (and that pay for their employees' labor, unlike network marketing companies).
Edit: Great minds think alike 😹

Until two weeks ago, I thought pampered chef was a “ work from home”; and Avon, too. Two sisters do those, and the Avon one does sentsy as well. I would really appreciate if you would list a few positive work from home possibilities. Please?

"Get into Medical Billing. I wish I would've done that" this little statement made me do a little dance bc I'm currently in school (graduating in Jan 2025) for Medical Billing and Coding so I CAN work from home and spend more time with my son. 🙏☺️ I needed to hear that.

I don’t think it’s weird to bring biblical principles into the workplace, in regards to how you work. Like trying to apply the fruits of the spirit-patience, kindness, gentleness, peace, etc- to how you interact with coworkers and customers and clients isn’t a bad thing. I think she kind of said it weird but for Christians it shouldn’t be a weird concept to practice what we preach.
If you’re trying to convert everyone you see that may be an issue obviously.

it’s fine to bring your values into the workplace esp if it’s around having a good work ethic and treating others with respect. what’s not okay is proselytizing to your coworkers. soooo many fundies & huns can’t figure out the difference
