It kinda links back to the maturity/professionalism point I felt Tom missed, if someone came on the show and after they mentioned the passing of a loved one that you then asked about, the mature thing to do would be to respect their view/point and if you discuss it to do so in a manner that is respectful or not at all cause its not about you. Tom does the whole video a huge disservice in several parts by calling the points brought up bad points, only for those reasons he calls them bad points to be addressed a few minutes later in the video. The section about Teddy Fresh being a scam, for example, goes on to show how a large portion of their designs are straight up ripped off from other clothing lines and seems to be them just farming out large quantities of new clothes designed to be worn for a season and then disposed of. The point is not that it's overpriced garbage no one should buy, it's that he makes a living off of shitting on overpriced garbage no one should buy, then does the same thing. He even points out how Hassan ALSO does the whole 'ethically manufactured clothing line' thing, but also charges reasonable prices and goes out of his way to only hire manufacturers with labor unions or some shit.
To be fair, he took A WHILE to talk about why teddy fresh is a scam. Instead he went on a long rant about how parasocial the fans are and that means Ethan is bad. The only part of that section I agreed with was Ethan calling his fans "family" is weird and fosters a parasocial audience, but outside of that he says Ethan is bad because he posts a lot and he hired former fans. Obviously Tom is gonna say these are weak arguments and would be easy for Ethan to dunk on. He even said before this that KoN should make his points more succinctly and edit down the video to make it more convincing and to the point. Idk what he says but the way I interpreted King of Nothings video was that he was basically just pointing out that Ethan says "I'm the best and I've changed" but in reality he is still an edgy comedian on the Internet who pretends not to and grandstands. I didn't think King of Nothing was saying he's mad at Ethan for the stuff he's doing but more look who bad faith and inconsistent Ethan is. That's how I took it.
When it comes to Ethan joking about dead loved ones I think what really matters is the person's specific reaction to it because all people react differently to grief. Like for example I've literally made a Muscle Man joke about my own mom who passed from cancer a few years ago so I personally wouldn't have minded Ethan's comments but obviously Dad was a lot more sensitive about the subject.
I agree I don't think it's fair to crucify Ethan over that because it wasn't really that bad but I think it would've benefited him to just have some tact and refrain from those comments just out of courtesy since he obviously wasn't sure how sensitive Dad was about his gf.
Ultimately the overall point was Ethan isn't mature and lacking basic tact about situations like that is definitely a sign of immaturity.

My biggest criticism of Ethan was the Seaman thing. I was watching during that episode and it was hard to get through. Even though the picture was public, he did pressure him to give permission to post it. I also vaguely remember Ethan trying to convince him to show them on the video call too. I was anticipating Ethan getting in trouble for that segment and would actually deserve whatever backlash he got.
The weird thing is that c man brought it up first and offered to send photos, he also just whipped it out. Afterwards he seemed to regret stuff then got into the h3 snark subreddit where they all egged him on and took advantage of him to get back at Ethan.

It’s played for a laugh but it’s also similar to inviting a guest on to a show, and then showing them your genitals to make them feel uncomfortable. The fact that they are seeing something without consent in a work environment is not cool. Even if it’s just friends hanging out, once you are doing so in a podcast setting for financial gain, it becomes much more about the power dynamics in play. A person has to consider whether or not their actions of discomfort will negatively financially impact them (ie walking off set or even pressing charges or raising concerns about the material) and therefore they cannot be in a moment of consent.
You can be a victim of S.H. And not care, but it doesn’t make it okay.
Also not building this on only a “power dynamic” argument; this is based on HR regulations. The H3 podcast is a multimillion dollar company. You can’t get away with the CEO of a media giant bringing an independent contractor into a meeting with the company and then asking them multiple times for an explicit picture of them to share with the customers even if they do it in their spare time or as a side hustle.
It’s actually worse if he sells explicit images for money because then he’s actively being pressured by someone to give away some of his service for free and denial invites the risk of financial damages through direction of the CEO of said company.
A CEO can’t bring you in front of a board meeting and tell you to give everyone some prints of a painting for free or else everyone here will be upset with you.
It’s the same for Ethan doing that asking for someone to give him permission to share his explicit images. It’s not okay for a business to do something like that. It’s not a small podcast, it’s not just some people hanging out, it’s a multimillion dollar corporation where Ethan is the visible figurehead.

You're not right on this. There is a way to discuss it appropriately, but honestly discussing it at all outside of Nathan's involvement was childish and pretty cruel. He does scripted content, while comedians who do live content all understand it's not uncommon to try to make an edgy comment to try and be funny, only for it to fall flat. King of Nothing completely misconstrued what it means for something to be fast fashion. Part of what makes it ‘fast fashion’ is the low prices and terrible quality. Fast fashion is essentially mass produced garabage that often steals designs from other designers in order to keep production costs low. The ‘fast’ is in relation to how quickly the item is produced in order to chase a current trend. He presents 0 evidence of clothing quality, design theft, or unethical labor practices and instead harps on the designs that he doesn’t like for a bit which has nothing to do with fast fashion. He should have left out that entire section of the video. If H3H3 reacted to his video, that point alone would be enough for Ethan to make him look like an idiot.

His chat argued most people who buy the nfts don’t care about profit they do it as a support or for jokes (silly I know) and so he did a bit about his own nfts which were private

I'm only in the beginning of this video, but I watched the H3 NFT episode when it first aired. From my memory, it was essentially all tongue in cheek. I think they even criticized NFTs during the episode. If you've ever seen a twitch streamer doing a subathon, it was kind of like that. I'm pretty sure before any bidding happened, they announced that the crew would be getting the profits from the sales, like they do with the live shows. The audience knew how Ethan felt about NFTs and if they disagreed or just wanted to support the crew, they bought them. I really don't think it was hypocritical at all. I think no one said anything until now because there was nothing to criticize them for

Ethan openly said the NFTs were worthless and that no one would get rich by buying them, which I think is important. It was strictly an opportunity for their audience to give them more money. It’s not any different from a twitch streamer doing a subathon, except it was enriching the entire crew, not just Ethan or the podcast in general (however businesses work)
