Had mine for about 7 weeks and I love it. I'm still surprised by newly discovered features that I experience almost every day, some of which no one has mentioned on any of these car review sites. For example, last week I was on the highway approaching a 2 km tunnel. It's summer here (Canada), but it wasn't really hot, so I had the AC on the fresh air mode setting. As I approached the tunnel, a dashboard message popped up saying that because the car was approaching a tunnel, it was switching to recirculation mode. Then as I exited the tunnel, it automatically switched back to fresh air! Pretty skookum.
Out of curiosity, what did the dealer ding you with as far as fees? Got a quote from a local dealer and am interested to compare. Mine hilariously tried to charge me: $2,100.00 freight/delivery $498.00 - security etching $75.00 - carproof fee $139.95 - wheel locks $1,500.00 - 'spring ready package' lol $2,131.50 - literally called 'Misc Fees' $90.00 - 'Non-taxable fees' $140.00 - 'Other Charges' For a grand total of $6,674.45. I had them remove the 'spring ready package' bringing the total fees to $5,174.45. Other than that, they wouldn't budge on any of it. The $2.1k of 'Misc Fees' especially cracked me up, I referred to it as a 'Dealer Margin Increase Fee'. Was a no-brainer walking away from this dealership and taking my business to Tesla who also gave me $3k more on my trade in (which again hilariously was a Hyundai) and only around $2,100 in total fees.

I wouldn't BUY an electric car for two reasons: first, it's my first electric car and I want to test out the technology before I make a bigger EV financing decision, and secondly, the technology is advancing so quickly that in a few years there will be multiple better options. If you are looking at a purchase, obviously the fees will be different, but on my lease, the additional fees total $1,451.50, comprising a "dealer fee", a "vehicle purchase fee", and an "early disposition fee". The dealer fee was about 50% of the total additional costs and the other two were split about 50/50. But every Province has different rules, and I live in BC.
I own it for 1,5y now and it's awesome. Every drive is a pleasure, consumption with 18" sport rims is very nice and the fast charging while traveling makes it even better. I didn't want a Tesla for several reasons so this was the one for me! Love it!!

I wanted an Ioniq 6, but I needed to carry a mobility scooter and the access was too small. So, I went with the Ioniq 5 , 10 weeks ago. It is a brilliant car very pleased with it. Cheers Mike UK
Loved my Ioniq 6 that I had for 9 months. I think it is one of if not the best-looking practical car on the road today. I had the limited RWD version and the only reason I got rid of it is because we are moving a place that has 4 seasons versus the 1 season of Arizona. We got a 2024 Model 3 LR AWD because in the US it is eligible for a tax credit that makes it very compelling for the price. My biggest complaint of the Ioniq is that the rear suspension is very firm and crashes over road imperfections. It is worse when someone is in the backseat, this can make for a jarring ride that the model 3 does not suffer from. I do think the Hyundai handles the twisties better though. In some ways the Ioniq 6 is better vehicle than the model 3, but the price advantage along with neat options tips the scale towards the Tesla.
I had almost forgotten how much FUN driving could be until I got my Ioniq 6! I agree with everything said here about driving performance. For pricing , consider the SE trim, AWD or RWD. Both have the smaller 18” wheels for 300+ miles of range. Hyundai is conservative on range estimates. Using Normal, I consistently get 350 miles with my AWD version. However, SE trims do not have the sunroof and a few other doo-dads. Only real disappointment is the base sound system, which is MEH.
In Australia the base-model gets a good BOSE speaker system, as well as the full HUD, adjustable and heated seats, and the full range of ambient lighting choices. 614km range with the base RWD model as well.
My Genesis GV60 just got a software update including Wireless CarPlay. Finally!!! So I’m sure the Ioniq6 will have it very soon, if not already. Great car for those doing lots of long distance highway trips.
Trick check with Insurance company if you have a 3rd party dashcam (sometimes requires certain brands make and/or models!) they might either pay for it or give you a premium discount for having it! Especially true for Fuse OBD or hardwired in dashcams, I prefer OBD Port Power Supplies! I also recommand 70mai A810 or M500 or DDPAI N5 Dual are all great!
Most people who carry on about its looks seem to be most angsty about the rear end. Personally I love both views, and as some have mentioned about it, the car looks much more impressive in the real world than in flat images and video.
The camera side mirrors are awesome. That said, the US market doesn't get them, and as a result; the awkward wing like blank attachments to the dashboard looks positively rediculous. The Ioniq 6 exterior looks way better in darker shades of color also, imo.
I just saw one on the road a couple of days ago. A very visually striking car. There's one thing I think that can be improved regarding the side mirrors. Some older cars had side mirrors on the fender, downstream of the bonnet. Considering this car has cameras for side mirrors, if you placed them further down, you would have no blind spots at all.
There is really very little in the way of 'blind-spots'. The car has blind spot cams for each side, though I use these less as the side mirrors give such a good view. But I DO use the rear-quarter radar-warning image that comes up on the dash as this is very effective.
These E GMP cars are certainly very fast charging cars. However the max charge rate is approximately 240kw. Hyundai talks about how fast they can charge when connected to a 350kw charger, but they don’t charge at 350kw.
If it wasn't so much more expensive in Australia I'd probably have gone down this path instead of my model 3. I have enjoyed the model 3 and it was definitely the best first EV car for me but comfortable now with the non Tesla infrastructre and this has a few more of the things I really like.
May I suggest all auto reviewers make a clear note of the battery chemistry for EV reviews. Kind of like mentioning an ICE needing 91RON vs 95RON can factor into real world costings, LFP vs NMC for example will affect charging to 100% vs 80%, which affects real world driving range.
All lithium ion batteries, including LFP, can be charged to 100% on a long trip, though it not recommend for optimal longevity and possible overcharging for daily's. With LFP, you must charge it full 100% frequently to recalibrate the BMS so to avoid potential problem with incorrect SOC/range reading or associated problems such as cell imbalance.
I love that Hyundai is going hard with their electric vehicles, however I can’t help but feel they know they can’t offer what Tesla can for the price. The new Model 3 Performance is faster, lighter, better range, better handling, better driver assist, more storage, more practical, safer, better infotainment, more efficient, better stereo system, all at a very similar price….
Space and comfort are better in the Ioniq 6, though. Maybe range. At the moment Tesla is super aggressive with pricing, but I wonder if they can really keep it at this level for long. Also, Teslas are incredibly ubiquitous (and a bit boring looking, IMO). It's the new Corolla of EVs. The Ioniq 6 gets me more excited than a Model 3.
I 100% agree. Compared to tesla pricing it doesn't even come close. I think Hyundai need to drastically change how they price their EV's, i love the look of them but paying 15-20k more for one compared to a Tesla or BYD which both have superior tech seems pointless

Love the exterior shape ..but the interior looks a bit too plasticy for my taste, if you just have the external mirrors...the wings on the dash ends are still there doing nothing which is a bit dumb.
I really like it. It looks fantastic. But it is too expensive for specs compare to competitors. 65k for 53kWh battery is ridiculous. It should be 50k and 60k for 77kWh
2 things: That car looks like a VW beetle. Imagine stretching the length of the Bug without increasing the height and you get an Ioniq6. You looked really comfortable in the back with your knees up around your ears. Why would you claim it is that comfortable when clearly it is not?
That has really annoyed me. Sure the Ioniq6 has a long wheelbase, but that does not equate to comfort and it is disingenuous of reviewers stating that it does. I recently did a longish road trip in my Polestar 2. I had 3 passengers, 2 of whom were in the back. Yes the back seat was 'cosy' in comparison, but it was comfortable and the passengers were able to sit properly. No complaints whatsoever from them. If it had been the Ioniq6 we were travelling in, they would have been screaming to be let out within 30 minutes.
It’s slower, less efficient with backward software compared to a model 3 it also has a pointless service schedule. The price needs to be 10k below a model 3 not 10k above.

I really want a sedan and I really respect Hyundai EVs but unfortunately, I've never liked the overall shape of this one. It looks like a kidney bean. Otherwise I'd be all over the Ioniq 6s.

$20k cheaper and you can feel it. I've been fortunate to drive both and the IONIQ truly feels premium and worth the price. Also gets much closer to its claimed range and much faster charging. Not to mention it's ride and handling being leagues ahead

Collected my 2023 Epiq a couple of weeks ago. Very happy so far.

the real world driving range is only relevant when you go on a long trip. who drives 400km+ daily …
