As someone who is nowhere near intermediate level, I found the English portions of the story very helpful especially since there weren't any pictorial cues to help follow along. So for those of you commenting that there was too much English or that it was annoying, I suggest watching Spanish television shows or movies, or watch UA-cam videos that are only narrated in Spanish instead of Duolingo. Easy fix.
Did you keep learning? I’ve practicing daily for about 8 months and I feel like I’m probably at a similar level to what you were at here, not understanding all of it but being able to decipher bits. If you did keep learning, how much would you understand now?

Honestly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your free services: you make learning accessible, which is not only great, but could literally change someone's life. Acquiring language skills can open doors for those who seem to only come across closed ones. Thanks again!
Thank you Duolingo for finding a way to teach people like me who have a learning disability. Being able to read the words in Spanish while hearing them is enormously helpful.
Yoo can u give some tips on how to improve? I've been using the duolingo app for a year already and I still can't understand a sentence. Just few words hahaha
I'm about the same. Recognize the words but barely remember the meanings of some. It kinda works but I don't remember the exact meaning of every word. Follow along but can't give a perfect translation.
@@flawrish2718 once you understand basic word ordering in a spanish sentence, then you work on vocabulary. The verbs are a damn mess tbh, because they change so often with the tenses and even if it changes between you, them, him, her. And the 3 ways of saying "the" and EVERYTHING gendered including cities, it can be complicated. I have understood a lot of the word order and joining words but dropped the ball on the vocabulary to a fair degree. So now I have to work on the names of things. You won't often get a PERFECT translation at first, but you'll pretty much follow along. And eventually when you unravel the complications of the verbs, you'll understand exact translations. I find LITERAL translations help DRAMATICALLY at understanding the word order. But you'll find these better in books. Go to goodwill or salvation army and look around for language books there. Sometimes it's far easier to get your head around it because you can reread it several times. Just realize that the word order can be very different and there's a few 2 and 3 letter words that can look really strange.
