  • 6/3/2020 - Months ago, my boot buddy @dublinpremium showed me the Viberg 310 for the first time. I couldn't shake it. It has now become one of my top boots, possibly my most favorite of all time. This review is my attempt to inform the world about this (in my opinion) tragically overlooked Viberg last, inspired by early 20th Century industrial wear. I hope they shake your world as they've shaken mine;)

    man once again another great video, you've been hitting them out of the park recently!!! thanks for the shoutout, and yes these are just fantastic boots!!! I have long wanted some olive waxed flesh, and that last that they're built on is so cool with the sprung toe. and thanks for the sizing advice, my 2030's in 8.5 are pretty generous, so if I were to ever jump on any 310's I'd definitely go with an 8. keep up the good work my man!!!

      Thanks for the great feedback! Yeah, I’ve been known to watch like 5 of your videos in a row before while sizing, just to glean insight on fit (you and I have similarly sized feet, for what that’s worth. Cool? Creepy? I don’t know, man:). You often include excellent (like those videos where you measure a bunch of boots- omg, amazing) sizing info which I have trouble finding elsewhere. So I decided I should try to give my viewpoint on sizing for these.

      Yeah, they were a sleeper for me too. It took several months from me first seeing them to get really excited about them....then I was hooked:) @dublinpremium on IG has a ton of great shots of his 310 collection (he has like 5 or 6 different pairs); check it out to see more pics and fit shots.

    Awesome video & very impressed with all the interviews, I’m 30 minutes south of you and a big boot guy but not quite as high end as you‼️😎👍 Just had Brian the Bootmaker from Role Club do a total rebuild from the footbed down on a pair of Iron Rangers I’ve owned for years, he just emailed me yesterday that they’ve been shipped out and so looking forward to seeing them after six weeks. Keep up the amazing videos and the subs will follow😷👍🥾

      @@thevintagefuture6567 David, boot repair in Salinas/ Monterey is awful, was wondering if there is a good cobbler in Gilroy/ Morgan Hill area, would be worth the drive if there is a boot guy! I’ve got some 1000 mile boot at a shop in Salinas for a resole and heal and went with the 430 vibram mini lug because guy didn’t have much and wanted to get away from leather soles as I’ve got like 4 other pairs of the 1000 mile boot. Anyway this guy says I’ve been doing this 30 years and you don’t need a midsole😳 Told him it does because the rubber vibram is so thin a midsole would help and it’s what you glue the sole to! Sounds like a mess and Becks was a great family owned shop that stocked Red Wing among many brands since 1917, Red Wing even had a video about the shop but they’ve sold and repair shop is only open on Saturday and don’t stock many soles! Just got my Iron Rangers tonight from Brian at Role Club and he did a stunning job which I’ll post on IG in the morning! Thank in advance for the help with a local boot shop and please keep up the great videos😷👍

      trevor walker Andy’s Shoe Repair in San Jose is really good. He won’t do stitchdown, but any GYW, he’s great. He’s a bespoke cowboy boot and shoe maker on the side. What’s your IG? Contact me here or there- would love to see the pics of the resole (although Brian probably posted them already).....and yes, you DEFINITELY need a midsole😆 Way more functional and comfortable.

    If you call viberg and you're willing to pay they will put whatever upper on whatever last. You can bring them zebra leather or whatever exotic and they'll make you a pair. They make custom boots for rich people.

    They are so awesome. Especially the new olive green ones ❤️. The only issue I have is that stitch down construction. It demands a hand switching for the resole, to hit every hole. But the waxed flesh looks great...

    Looks like Truman has introduced their new 20 Last that looks very similar to Viberg's 310. Looks promising for peeps that like a roomier Toe Box and a snugger heel fit. This may be the Boot Last for me to try out some Trumans as the one complaint i've heard from both Aerosurferlv & Stridewise was the Heel slippage

    • @thevintagefuture6567
      @thevintagefuture6567  3 роки тому

      Mad Hatter great points, especially about the heel fit. 310 is quite a bit more extreme, but yes the Truman 20 is a solid step in that direction. The extra toe room will be nice for many people! Still kinda biased toward the 310 though🤣

    That's a great take, again! Dave since you have been in contact with some many boots companies, could please ask them what's the benefit of not gusseting the tongue in boots? I find that such an important feature on a pair of boots. It's the only thing I don't like about my Indy's. It makes a boot less versatile in my opinion.

    • @thevintagefuture6567
      @thevintagefuture6567  3 роки тому

      Marx Ramone good point about the gusset. I too prefer a gusset. I’ve talked to some of the manufacturers/designers about it. Lack of a gusset can sometimes make the boot easier to pull on, but in many cases it’s literally just stylistic. By the way, you can get a cobbler to stitch the tongue on your Indy’s in place. Check out aerosurferlv on UA-cam for a video showing that. He had it done to several boots with great success. It’s not a gusset, so you don’t get the water resistant feature, but it does completely deal with the tongue slip.

    Hi David, nice video, man. Yeah, I'm just getting around to checking it out after you directed me to it a few weeks ago. So how you feeling about the 310 nowadays? Still one of your favorites? Are you able to get shoe trees down into them or does the sprung toe cause problems? Viberg just released a really nice English Tan Dublin model but it's a plain toe with dainite soles and they haven't started the D widths yet. So.....reeeaaallly weighing it hard. I'd much rather a cap toe with half soles or commando soles and speed hooks in a D width but there's no telling if/when they may ever decide to put that together. And even if they do, who knows what leather they may use.
    Thanks for another cool video.

    • @thevintagefuture6567
      @thevintagefuture6567  3 роки тому +1

      310 will always be a favorite of mine! So so cool! And no one has made an imitation that comes close. Shoe trees work fine, cuz most of them can hinge upwards into the toe. Btw, D widths are coming within a year, so just hang in there! Worth the wait. This is Brett’s favorite boot, so it will keep coming back; not to worry about missing out!

    I'm conflicted between these and a pair of Nick's Prospectors which look the exact same I'm leaning towards the nicks because I know what type of construction they have as I own a pair already and also they're cheaper I would love to know how the feel is as far as the construction of these are

    • @thevintagefuture6567
      @thevintagefuture6567  Рік тому

      If you know Nicks, I would stick with Nicks. They’re both comparable to each other tbh. I prefer Viberg just cuz I love their vibe, but there’s nothing objectively way better about Nicks or Viberg vs each other. Has more to do with what you’re using them for and what look you like.

    I have flat feet as well. I am a size 10 US in Wolverine 1000 mile and a size 10 on Oak street bookmakers field boot. What size would I be in the 310? Viberg said to go by Brannock device and I’m a size 10.5

    • @thevintagefuture6567
      @thevintagefuture6567  Рік тому

      Hey! If you’re low volume get 1 down from Brannock (9.5 Viberg tag size). If you’re regular or high volume get .5 down (size 10). What’s your width?

    • @ralphender4111
      @ralphender4111 Рік тому +1

      @@thevintagefuture6567 arch size on Brannock is an 11, width it’s a D. I emailed them my foot measurements length: 27.62 cm width: 10.79 cm.
      Length wise they said I was closer to a Viberg 9 but the width on that size 310 was of 9cm. So idk if to size up .5 to a Viberg 9.5 to make up for the width since they don’t make a wide or extra wide on the 310.

    • @thevintagefuture6567
      @thevintagefuture6567  Рік тому

      I disagree with their recommendation, as funny as that sounds 😂 I’ve tried several sizes with my 6 pairs of 310s, and .5 or 1 down is best, sometimes 1.5 down can work, but is rarely advisable. If your arch length is 11 and you’re a D width, I absolutely think you should wear size 10 Viberg. Smaller than that and your ball alignment is poor, larger than that and you may be swimming. If after that, you want to try 9.5, that’s up to your discretion, but I would try 10 first. And 9 is DEFINITELY too small for you in my experience. The goal isn’t to go as snug and short as humanly possible; the goal is ball alignment and good anchor points. Unfortunately, even many manufacturers don’t practice this, and I believe this is in error. Hope that helps!

    • @thevintagefuture6567
      @thevintagefuture6567  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for liking my review! Also, glad you spoke up about the laces- it’s important for me to remember that my opinions are of course subjective, and comments like yours add value to the discussion, for anyone watching/reading the comments. I probably don’t like Guarded Goods laces for the precise reason that you love them, that waxy grip they have (which is why they tie better, as you stated). They’re too “sticky” and “grippy” for my taste. That said, I do double tie all my laces, which may be relatively uncommon. I guess I just prefer smooth laces. So, great point that you made! Thanks again for watching!

      @@thevintagefuture6567, we gotta tie twice. When you use a Berluti knot those cloth laces will never unlace again.

    • @thevintagefuture6567
      @thevintagefuture6567  3 роки тому

      Douglas Brooks thanks! I’ve actually since learned that knot! It’s awesome! But I still double toe lightly just cuz, with my skinny ankles, there’s always so much excess lace- I do it to shorten them. Since then I’ve bought shorter laces, so when I use those I don’t need to double tie.
