    I have been watching dwts for years now and I really don't watch the show for the drama or for who is fighting with who. I personally watch for the dancing. I watch for the pro dances, the creativity and to see how the stars do with something they have never done before. I love this show so much. I don't want the dancing to get lost in the mix of trying to make it a SHOW.

      I completely agree. The semis were a perfect example of that, and then they had to ruin it in the results show & create senseless drama.

    So glad he's in the finals.

    maks and val are such pros at putting their foot in their mouth. i am so happy that he talked his partner out of the mirror ball i will vote endlessly for allison- who could barely walk last yr-- just to deny val. humility goes along way with me...and many. my fury is b/c he insinuated that she has not persevered over obstacles.

    For me, Riker took the first round with that contemporary 😍 and Nastia took the second round.

    Very classy show. Loved how at the end you each had a different opinion of your favorite dances and you all respectfully disagreed. Hats off to the positive attitude that afterbuzz brings to DWTS. It's Unfortunate that the negative packages are a part of the show. We have seen them over the years to many celebs and pros. Asking pros to comment on negative aspects of others dancers is unfair and only bating for drama.

      maureen currie Thank you! Suri and I text back and forth a ton about the dances and we haven't agreed much this season. I love it when the panel is all over the place with opinions. It keeps us on our toes!

      A few things needs to be remembered from watching DWTS
      1. Variety is the spice of life
      2. Life to short to get caught up in unnesscary drama,
      3. even when life may not seem fair you always have two choices you can choose to sit there and get annoyed or you can choose to look at all the good things you have in life

    Val is right about people hating him no matter what. In the same segment, he praised Nastia highly, and Sharna said, "we need a human moment from her," but no one cares because Sharna doesn't fit into the Hough v Fam narrative.
    There's nothing mean in either comment and they're indeed realistic assessments--she got voted off after all. But clever of the producers to include--now the disappointed Derek Hough fans have something to rally around.

    • @maureencurrie4453
      @maureencurrie4453 9 років тому +11

      jorettadrive I thought that too. If Val had said exactly what Sharna said, he would have been criticized just as much by certain "mean" fans of Derek. Most Derek fans are wonderful and love Derek him for his tremendous talent. A few are vicious.

  • @miaswatching6702

    That is a whole lot of Val! It was nice to get to hear his perspective and explanation. It is too bad that fans have to ruin comments during the show knowing that is set up to cause drama by the shows producers. I found the outrage unnecessary.

    upset that Nastia didn't get into the final :( as a fan, I don't really care about the trophy, I just really want to see her dance in the finale!!! To me she is the best in terms of technicality in the competition.

      To me, she was interesting, but that's because I knew her as an Olympian first. & Olympians are supposed to be hard, cold, and emotionless. Especially Russian ones. That being said, I found her extremely pleasant & loved her attitude. I hated the comparisons to Meryl, because Meryl was an ice dancer. She trained to perform. Nastia trained to compete. Therein lies the difference & therein lied her struggle, which I found very interesting! Especially compared to Rumer who is the exact opposite of her! Rumer excels in sexy dances but doesn't do so well in happy cutesy dances, which Nastia was great in! Would've loved to see them both in the finale.

  • @amskilletrockz
    @amskilletrockz 9 років тому +23

    I really hope Riker wins.. He has been underplayed all season. It's been Rumer & Nastia talked up all season, but he is the front runner for me! There is nothing he can't do! No role he can't play!! & to dance alongside Allison who goes full out and still shine?? Just amazing! He doesn't have that amazing "story" but who cares? He has the dances & like Val said, he has "it."

    • @amskilletrockz
      @amskilletrockz 9 років тому +5

      I really hope Riker doesn't win just because of Val's comment to Nastia. I want him to win based on merit & talent, which he has! & just a fantastic work ethic that has been downplayed.

    • @naty04191
      @naty04191 9 років тому +3

      Riker deserves to win because he AND Allison have been consistent all season!!! Allison's choreography has been amazing... up there with the best I've seen on the show!! I will never forget their Salsa or their Paso or their Jazz or their Contemporary!!! Riker puts his soul into every dance Allison gives him! And then on top of that they have amazing chemistry!! All of their rehearsals are so fun to watch... You can tell they have so much respect for each other and that they have formed a very genuine, sweet friendship!

  • @amskilletrockz
    @amskilletrockz 9 років тому +16

    I'm very upset that Nastia went home. Not really because she placed 4th, because I understand a little why the audience didn't connect to her, even though she was my favorite. I'm more disappointed that I didn't get to see her freestyle. She had a wonderful journey, but it just feels incomplete without her being in the finale. I'm not a fan who reads too much into who wins. For me, it's just about the finals. & it usually doesn't come down to the best dancer anyway. I'm just upset that her journey was cut short, & I'm upset at the producers for doing so. These 4 all deserved to be in the final, especially after that AMAZING semifinal

  • @randypacheco4007
    @randypacheco4007 9 років тому +17

    People just want to find the smallest detail to hate/talk about someone. It is obvious that the producers do these segments to get more people fired up for the finale. Val was just honest unlike the other pros who tried to sugar code that particular package.Why argue???????????????????

    • @jakecolder4540
      @jakecolder4540 9 років тому +4

      Randy Pacheco Honestly, it's just an universal energy thing. Negativity provokes more negative attention and positivity attracts more positivity. Val's a good, well-intentioned person but words are powerful and can be hurtful. When given an opportunity or an invitation to say something unflattering about someone, do you take it or leave it? I think this tiny reflection of character is what people are responding to, disproportionate or not. Also just a note, promoting positivity and kindness when you can does not equate to sugar coating if it's genuine.

    • @amskilletrockz

      I agree with you, but I don't blame people for being upset.. It was a bit harsh. I just wish he stuck by his comment though. Him backtracking just made it look worse & gave derek fans more cause to attack him.

    Ok, i have to say that Riker and Allison's Contemporary was freaking amazing. My favourite dance this season overall!! My votes are going to Riker, just because to ME he's the best star who's still in the competition. I love Val and i love Rumer, but their dancing isnt doing anything to me. And im getting so tired of seeing Val fans say that he deserves that MBT more than other pros, because he's been on the show for such a long time..are you kidding me? I dont care that it's Allisons second season, she deserves it just as much as the other two pros. Maybe im complately wrong, but every season it looks like Val only focus on winning that MBT, rather than enjoying his experince. His choreo this season hasnt wow'ed me(i already know that bunch of Val fans will disagree with me) like i said, i love him, but something has changed.
    I didnt even think that what Val said about Nastia was so serious(it was his opinion, i didnt agree with him, but it was his opinion) and going into twitter i saw how pissed people actually were. But if we would think about that situation now and would have seen Derek say that about Rumer? Do people really belive that Valenrue fans would have stayed quiet? No chance in hell.

    • @amskilletrockz
      @amskilletrockz 9 років тому +7

      I agree with everything you said! That is Val's mistake every season! When will he learn? You're right, every pro "deserves" to win, everyone works hard! No one "deserves" to win because they've been there longer. That's not what the show should be about. Too much emphasis on winning. & what will happen if he does win? Will he leave the show like maks did & act like his work is done, & he has no other reason to be on dwts? Is the only reason pros do dwts to win? I don't believe that. Some of my favorite moments on the show have not been from winning partners. Nastia's waltz being one of them, & to me that was more important than her "winning." The mirrorball is just a mirrorball. Why does it matter so much? If you make it to the finale, you're all winners in my opinion. What it really comes down to is apples vs oranges. Or Rumer & Riker.

    • @jessietaymer9740

      Jaanika Sits Exactly. Both Cheryl and Julianne won on their first two seasons out. Peta won on her 2nd season. There's nothing undeserved about Allison winning with Riker in her 2nd season as pro. It's about the celebrity, their performance and journey. Paying dues, not paying dues...who cares? Lord knows Sharna's waited long enough and we don't hear the same line about her.

    • @smileson3543
      @smileson3543 9 років тому +6

      Jaanika Sits I completely agree with you.... Val isn't my favourite male pro but i have massive respect for him because of how much love he has for his craft and i feel like his manic desire to win will always be his downfall. He even said it himself this season that he drags the fun out of it. But i really hope that he starts to just enjoy dancing with his partner instead of taking everything so seriously. EVERY PRO is deserving of winning whether they just had one season or thirteen....

    To Kristyn and Suri and all other hosts and guest hosts this season, I have to say how much I have enjoyed how fair and even handed you all have been this season of DWTS. I just went through and watched all your shows this week. I really loved it that even when you disagreed with each other everyone listened and gave space for conflicting opinions. Corky and Shirley Ballas were a hoot and said it all! I appreciated Val tonight very much because I too have had words misconstrued, edited, and held against me publically and hurtfully. He seemed like a regular, tired, sad, guy to me. People commented that he said too much. After having been pulverized for saying one word, I can empathize with his need to be very sure to speak his truth in detail so as not to be misunderstood again. I love it that he said Rumer was teaching him. That part of the show where the pro learns from the student is gold.

      amskilletrockz I agree. It's called tact. While Sharna's comment sounded like a fair critique, Val's comment came off like a diss. It's not always about what you say but how you say and in that clip he did not come off well.

    Thanks for another enjoyable show. While I enjoyed Val as a guest, that audio breaking up was almost more than I could take! LOL.
    Personally, I'm amazed that anyone would think Nastia telling a producer that she wasn't going to talk about what they were trying to force her to say was (a.) very smart and handled gracefully (b) just what she should have done. And Val saying they were too perfect? Well, duh, what's so horrible about that? When you are not part of the 'final edit' you are going to be manipulated to
    look any way the editor wants you to look. That is the true evil of media today. They manipulate the viewer, and the poor little viewer/lemmings follow a myth right off the edge of the cliff.
    Ok. Off my soapbox now.
    I'm sad not to see Nastia win. Ah, well. The dance with Len was better than 20 mirror balls.
    Thanks to Kristyn, Suri and Darvina (and Val) for another great show.

    • @amskilletrockz
      @amskilletrockz 9 років тому +8

      Agree with everything you just said! It's about the dancing! When I look back on dwts, I remember the dances, not who ended up with the stupid mirrorball. It's fine to want to win, but don't make everything about winning! You will be let down every season if that is your mindset!

    I think Riker & Allison will take the mirror ball. I think Val & Rumer are such a good team but I think they won't take it home. Riker & Allison have been consistent. I think Noah & Sharna will come in 2nd place. I'm
    just hoping that If Noah & Sharna take the mirror ball it wasn't because people felt bad for him cuz he's missing limbs. I want people to vote for the fact that he's capable of winning. They should give the mirror ball to who deserves it, not do it cuz you feel bad. This finale will be good. Can't wait to see all the pro's
    and they're partners back.
    Great job, guys! Can't wait till next week to hear what you have to say.

    Nastia has never been a favorite of mine, but it really bothers me that this show has treated Olympic Gold medalists with so much disrespect, seemingly to benefit other contestants. Shawn got hosed by Len during All-Stars, and they even tried really hard to get Gilles to win season 8(he was WAY overscored), Charlie was used as a sacrificial lamb in order to ensure Meryl had no competition (dance-wise) & never got the scores he deserved, and now Nastia was shown in a bad light. For Tony to win, they had to claim Shawn and Derek chose their rule-breaking quickstep (there's a lot of talk that the show forced them to do this dance again), for Maks to win, they gave Meryl the highest average of any contestant who has been on the show, and now Val and Rumer get all the media coverage and longest packages before they dance. It's frustrating as a viewer, because it's like they think we're oblivious to it all. Of all of the DWM fam, I think Val was the most deserving to win, only it was with Zendaya. That's the Val I liked the most. Don't be like Tony and Maks, who seemed to think they were owed a win. Get there because of your talent. Zendaya's Latin dances, Meryl's AT, Elizabeth Berkley's Cha Cha, and Danica's Quickstep were all incredible routines. You shouldn't need so much help from the producers, Val. You're far too talented to go that route. Never won woes frustrate me to no end, as well.

    • @zippi771
      @zippi771 9 років тому +7

      Lee Nas I could not have said it better. I agree that Val was definitely Mirror Ball worthy in his season with Zendaya, great choreography and an admirable attitude to boot. This season? I would say lacklustre choreography for the most part and the attitude of "It`s my turn. I have never won and I have been so dedicated to this show" is off-putting. There is not one dance he and Rumer did that I would go and watch again on youtube. Ryker`s dances, on the other hand, are very memorable to me!

    • @scbickings
      @scbickings 9 років тому +6

      Susanne Rumpold that's funny because I've rewatched several of Rumer's dances all season and none of Riker's with the exception of his disney paso. I feel like Allison's cheoro, while good, is all intense, all fast, all jerky, all the time...I don't understand how people can call Val and Rumer one note and not mention that Riker and Allison are also so. I would be fine with either winning, but am rooting for Rumer and Val because I connect more with their dancing.

    • @maureencurrie4453
      @maureencurrie4453 9 років тому +6

      Lee Nas I just don't see Val favoritism this season. Last season with Janel I thought he was getting favoritism. But it was Nastia who won immunity and who had the highest overall scores, even with comments about her lack of emotion. Rumer has been underscored(according to pros, Mark being one of them) and nitpicked all season .Rumer is a tremendous talent who has earned all of her scores and praise.
      I'm not sure about the package where the producers asked Nastia about frustration. It seemed to me that Derek was teasing her about being tired and not looking good in her dance steps and the cameraman chimed in. They, I am sure could not resist airing that because they air all fights and anger from all contestants every year. . It was shown on the next night as a way for her to gain a bit of sympathy,in my opinion, and have Derek console her. I thought the producers were trying to undo what they had done. I did not see it in anyway as the reason that they were voted off.
      I believe that they were voted off for the same reason that all good dancers get voted off. The public did not relate to Nastia. She is a sweet person with an unhappy look on her face. It didn't help that the public took offense to Derek being in all of her dances and not giving the floor to Sasha. It's very typical for fans to be "outraged:" when a talented dancer was voted off.

  • @samt4463
    @samt4463 9 років тому +13

    @KristynBurtt- My heart broke when Nastia was eliminated because it just felt like she got cut off right as she was peaking. Admittedly her challenge was emotionality, that was her journey, and I really wanted to see that story arc of her overcoming through dance. I understand that the general audience may have not connected with her and perhaps she might not have completely won everyone over in the finale (we'll never know). That's fine. I can live with that. What was NOT fine was the jarring treatment of her character in those packages towards the end. So so unnecessary and cruel. Throughout the entire season, Nastia has not had incredibly flattering or uplifting VTs to bolster her connection with the audience. They've been pretty neutral and/or forgettable so she had to win people over purely with her performances. At the very least, why couldn't they (the producers) just maintain the neutrality and give her a chance to prove herself? Why did they have to (on top of that) throw in such a bizarre wrench of negativity in the last couple of weeks and keep replaying it over and over? I just don't get it. Please help me understand.

    I'm surprised that no one really mentions the fact that non of Derek's partners from now on till another pro manages to get 5 Mirror Balls will ever be able to win. They cant let him get any more or else people will complain that it is rigged. The truth of the matter however is that Derek has such a huge following that could very easily win. It is unfair for the celebs , no matter how hard they work the best that can happen is that they end up in the finals. As much as l love to watch Derek dance , he should consider retiring from the show, they wont let him succeed much further .

    Awesome Aftershow Ladies Kristyn Burtt Suri Serano Darvina Plante & Awesome interview w/ Val. I totally get what Val is saying. I didn't remember he said Nastia was uninteresting and it wasn't a big deal. People need to calm down because its getting very aggravating. I think the whole Hough/Ballas Vs La Familia produced Rivalry is soo stupid. Yes they all want to win but to go around acting like they hate each other is very juvenile.
    Anyways I thought Monday Night was the most emotional night I've ever experienced since I started watching DWTS Season 10.
    I agree with Kristyn that Monday Night was Nastia's night because I saw and felt her breakthrough. We have been begging to see her connection with both Derek and Sasha the whole season and it was all there in that Viennese Waltz & Quickstep.
    There was soo much great stuff that happened I can't type fast enough.
    Me personally I was not sad Nastia & Derek didn't make the finals more bummed out because I wanted to see their freestyle but I am sure we will see something special them and even Mark/Willow on Tuesday Nights Finale results. I am super grateful to have gotten the privilege of watching Nastia and Derek dance this season. I was sad at the beginning when I thought Derek wouldn't be doing the show because of his engagement in New York but Thank God circumstances worked themselves out. Derek has been my favorite pro ever since I first started watching season 10 when he was with Nicole Scherzinger and I haven't been disappointed since.
    With one week left its anybody's Mirrorball to win. I said it earlier this season that this will come down to who has the best freestyle and I just want to see all three couples do their best!!!
    LET'S GO TEAM VALENRUE, RALLISON & SHWAY!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

      amskilletrockz That's true also the producers match up celebrities with the pros based on Personality types and attitudes. amskilletrockz I think he felt like he had to explain for Rumer because you should have seen how he was blasted on different sites and on twitter...and how those fans were encouraging each other to vote block against Val. It's truly reached the level of crazy with the dwts fans and it is making talking about dwts with other fans less fun. I like derek, mark, val, maks...I don't see why it has to be one camp or another. it's strange.

      He used it for his agenda to knock Nastia out. He was so cold and mean spirited when he said it.
      You can "apologize" later but look at the damage its done. Now a bunch of sheep was spouting what he was saying about her...it's disgusting.
      To top it off the ass saw himself and Nastia on the monitor and he aggressively hugged and tried to kiss her when they returned from commercial.

    After the kick ass semi-finals I was looking forward to this episode of Afterbuzz. But w/Val on skype and the technical issues and then talking for a half hour on the phone non-stop it was "uninteresting", lol. That's not a diss but I had to say it. Seems like people always want something to bitch about. I didn't find Val's comments rude at all. He was talking about the perfectness of Derek/Nastia's dances makes the performance uninteresting. If he said Derek and Nastia were uninteresting as people that would be a different story. Now back to the semi-finals. I thought everyone brought their "A" game this week and the show was great to watch. Although I was not a Nastia fan I believe she should have been in the finals over Noah, but it is what it is. For those whining about not seeing a Derek and Nastia freestyle I am sure the producers will have them do a performance to satisfy their fans. At least I hope they do. I am fine w/Val&Rumer or Riker&Alllison winning. This was a very good season.

      ***** I hear ya. Val's choreography has been slipping for the past 3 weeks or so. After Disney week, his creativity started going downhill. I think he's overly playing it safe because he sees how close he is to winning. He finally has a partner that everyone loves and is rooting for. Kind of disappointing to watch his choreography get so bland, though, because he was always my favorite pro every other season.

      The season I think Val will win is the season in which he doesn't whine about how he's never won. Love the guy, but I can see why he's never won. Puts too much emphasis on "winning" & that puts pressure on himself & his dancer.

      MsAllGoodNameTAKEN I still believe that Rumer will win the trophy. I think the outrage over the comment was blown out of proportion by Derek fans and the general public did not react to it that much. Val's choreography has been good but not his best, although I thought the "poor unfortunate souls" was masterful. Her last week ballroom dances were also beautifully choreographed if you love a more stripped down ballroom style.

    I have really been thinking about this I listened to this Aftershow. I personally love all the pros because they are all talented dancers and choreographers and I will admit that Derek Hough has been my favorite male pro since I started watching DWTS season 10. When it comes down to it the main reason why I love Derek & Mark a little bit more than some of the other pros like Maks and Tony is that Mark & Derek are a little bit more creative and think more out of the box and they can do Other styles very well like Contemporary and Hip-Hop. That Fire & Ice Paso Doble Mark did with Willow I have never seen that type of concept from other pros.

    On a different note, can I just say, yes, I commend Nastia for having to juggle three different pros and still perform the way she did every Monday, but this whole situation kind of made Derek really annoying to me. I mean, if he didn't return this season, Nastia most likely would've only had one partner, who would've most likely been Henry or Sasha anyways, giving them another (full) much deserved chance and maybe she would've had an easier time connecting, not to mention Derek wouldn't have gotten hurt. Boy should've just done his broadway show instead of trying to do too much, now he isn't doing either.

    Eh, I didn't really connect w/ Nastia, but she should've been in the finale. The emotion wasn't always there for me, but girl brought the performance. As far as Val's comment goes, I see how it could be taken in a negative light, (I guess we can only blame the editing for Nastia's portrayal huh) but to completely talk him AND Rumer (who said nothing) down to the extent people have and completely dismiss Rumer's journey is kind of ridiculous. It seems the show is "supposed to be about the contestant" only when they're paired up w/ a pro you like. This is all just so annoying. I wonder if the show would be more enjoyable if I completely ignored the online fandom.

I've seen people not vote for Derek's partner because they hate him & I've seen people vote for Val's partner just because they love him, and vice versa. This is not what dwts should be about. I'm so sick of it being about which pro hasn't won yet & which pro deserves to. It really shouldn't matter at the end of the day. PLEASE vote for Rumer, Riker, or Noah & just leave their partners out of it.

    • @jakecolder4540
      @jakecolder4540 9 років тому +6

      amskilletrockz Agreed. The only problem is that for longtime fans, there have been a few seasons when DWTS just wouldn't allow it to be simply about the celebrity. In the All-Star season and S18, the constant storyline was about Tony and Maks deserving to win because they never had. Of course they deserved to win, all of the pros do for their hard work. But in hindsight, you can't really say those seasons' champions were about the celebrity. As a result, when some fans hear the "Val has been on for 8 seasons and hasn't won yet" line again, you can vaguely understand their frustration because it's all too familiar and happened before.

    • @amskilletrockz
      @amskilletrockz 9 років тому +1

      I agree, I just think when you make it all about the pro, you're bound for failure. Because if the pro makes a mistake, it affects his partner. And if a pro days or does something that people don't like, everyone just forgets about the celebrity and hates on the pro. That has been Val's mistake.

  • @dk17768

    I have to say watching all episodes this season, the only two contestants of the final four that you really have gotten to the heart of is Noah and Rumer. The producers barely showcase Nastia and Riker to the point where Nastia has now been voted off and we barely got to know her as a viewer. Literally the only emotion we ever got from her in the packages was unfortunately the one where she was seen in a negative light. Really unfair but I have to say, not having the results shows anymore forces these short packages on the Monday nights that don't allow you to get the true essence of anyone. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last two weeks simply because you now get a better idea of what goes on behind the scenes. It also was a disservice to poor Nastia as well to have limited practice time with a partner doing another show who is then injured, then having to switch partners constantly. She really did a brilliant job and i would put her up there with someone flawless like Meryl. It just goes to show though with the right partnering how far you can go. Meryl is just as quiet as Nastia but she had this fireball of a partner in Maks which was partner GOLD. He was hands down the star of that show and brought out such a fun side in his partners. Derek is the same as well but unfortunately due to their schedules you never got to see their chemistry. Such a shame. Their dance this week was phenomenal with Len...dance of the night and a great send off.

    It's ironic how last season, they were complaining about Bethany not showing enough emotion (until she started to half way in the competition), but Nastia actually struggled with that a lot more! Not to mention, Nastia's connection with Derek wasn't very good. The only advantage Nastia had was her dancing. That's it. But even that wasn't enough. The dancing means nothing if you can't emote. (Take Nastia's Argentine tango as an example.) That could have DEFINITELY been a perfect 40 dance, but it wasn't because there was no chemistry/connection.

      Meredith Foster I agree with Val. I thought Nastia was uninteresting, too. That's why America didn't connect with her as well as they did with the other contestants. For example: As incredible a dancer as Nastia was, I almost NEVER saw her name mentioned on the official DWTS Facebook page. The main names I kept seeing everyone root for was Rumer, Riker, Noah and Willow (before her untimely elimination). Again, America just didn't connect with her. And I think it's because she didn't show much personality and wasn't interesting enough to stand out apart from the others.

    • @maureencurrie4453
      @maureencurrie4453 9 років тому +4

      Meredith Fosterer It did not sound good, but I took it to mean that an artist has to show some vulnerability in a live performance. A dance or an acting role when live, should be a little different each time, kept open to the mood of the audience and the experiences of the artist in the moment. An artist who is too technically perfect looses that vulnerability. Artum spoke on afterbuzz about Maks not doing too many last minute instructions to Meryl vs. Val during switch up week drilling her until the minute before performance, as a way to explain the difference between a technical performance and one that is focused on emotion.

    I think the producers were desperate to start crap. Lets be honest, the pros and the celebs that were left did a good job of showing us why they should win it. I knew Kristen and Suri along with Darvina were in PARADISE to get Val on the show. Its been 6 cycles and they are in heaven. It was lucky that you ladies were able to get Val on the show before he got to work with Rumer. Hopefully he gets his first trophy, its his 5th final. If Nastia didnt have Derek, she would have been gone a long time ago. She was the only celeb who could understand Derek's schelude. If she had another pro she would have been gone a long time ago, she didnt have that connection with the audience. The 2nd round was nothing. It felt like they needed something to add to the show and make it last the full time.

    Too much time spent on Val who blabbed on too much about himself, which meant very little time to review the dances. Also, we needed a guest that had ballroom experience to critique the dances (missing Anna). As for Val and his comments, whichever way you spin it (in or out of context), saying that you're too perfect that it can be uninteresting is a backhanded compliment at best, and a snide mean-spirited remark at worst. That being said, I like Val as a dancer and choreographer. I hope he and Rumer are in the top 2 (together with Riker).

      jonaloin I think it was destined to be that way because of how anti-val fans reacted to the fact he was going to be on the show in the first place. i think the hosts were treading carefully on what type of questions they asked him because of the backlash they were getting on twitter for having him on in the first place. I mean when you have to tweet the specific times Val will be on to appease anti-val fans who are furious he is on there to begin with, you know there is a problem. When Mark was on, he critiqued the dances. They could have asked Val to talk about some of the dances other than his own...he certainty is knowledgeable...but they knew that would open a can of worms. Plus, they only had him for twenty minutes.

    i thought for the most part the dancing was great. I didn't really like rumor/val's first dance as well it was good just not my favorite. Also riker and alison's dance with julianne I liked it much better once julianne left and it was just riker and alison. I thought it was to hectic and riker looked a little over whelmed to me with both girls. Still excellent job. Both of Noah's dances were fantastic to me. Nastia was good but of course she was good. I'm so glad Nastia went home Yes I understand that the producers do what they want to the packages to get reactions and what not. However I always never latched on to her from day one, yes she is great dancer but for me from day one i found her to be cold and just didn't feel she had a attitude with her. I understand i don't know her but thats the feeling I got from her, I understand in person she probably is nice. I agree they shouldn't have replayed the package from the week before they should have just let that go. When she talked about the package from the past week she was saying that everyone was problems and challenges and what not i agree with that. However when she compared her challenges and problems with going or being at war that is what really got me upset. I understand I don't know her history or the challenges she's had. Val is so full of himself... You just love the sound of your voice, don't you? And I'm sick of 'I have never won'. Well, you sure don't deserve it this season! I usually like his choreographies, but I have no idea what happened this season, but there is no one dance of him and Rumer, that I want to go and watch again. Not a single one! And the pimping is so clear, that it makes me gag. I mean, Rumer is EVERYWHERE, even if she’s not on top of the leader board, it was her ‘big night’. I would rather win because my partner was the best and not because the producers want me to win. Stop trying so hard to make Val happen! I get it, Derek will leave soon, but please just STOP. We are not stupid!
    I’m still in utter disbelief of what happened. In shock. I’m angry and pissed off. I’m mad because the best dancer this season didn’t even make it to the finals. I love stories and personalities, but I love good dancing, too. And Nastia gave me that every single week. I really think that the only reason she went home, was because the producers played such a nice game all season and because Derek has won 5 times. C’mon people! At this point, it’s a blessing and a curse to be Derek’s partner on DWTS, I really think so. A blessing if you want to have amazing and memorable dances and a great journey, and a curse, if you want to win, because the judges, the producers and some people voting (‘Derek has won 5 times’!) will give you a hard time.

      Tamara Krošl How has Val been favored. Nastia got immunity. Nastia ended up with highest overall scores on the leader board. Nastia was interviewed every week and had opportunity to "win the public over". Most people that were not the die hard Derek fans thought Rumer was not only overly criticized by judges but also underscored.
      I have only heard the "Val has never won" 2 times this season. Once last week from Erin and once in his opening packet where he himself said it was "pathetic". THAT is what Len was referring to when he said, "Val, this may be your season". The Derek fans have quoted that line a million times as if it is said often, Len said it once.
      As far as Vals choreo, he has had 50% winners and 50% average. Just like everyone else this season except Sharna who has excelled. Val has not been favored this season.

      maureen currie Riker is actually the one with the higher scores, not Nastia. Are you gonna say that Nastia didn't deserve to win an immunity this week? Do you really think it should be Rumer with her jive? Yes, I think she should get a 9 from Carrie Ann, not an 8, but she was far from a 10. That's not being 'favored', she deserved it, because Nastia was the best that week. In which dance was Rumer underscored? Please, go back and watch her rumba. She got a perfect score. And then go back to week 2 and watch Nastia do her rumba. The difference in quality of movements and technique and choreography is so on another level, that it's funny, actually. And Rumer did her rumba in week 8, while Nastia did it in second week and totally slayed it. The judges were so nitpicking Nastia the whole season that it makes me gag. If Val's jazz was 'average', then everything Derek and Sharna did was incredible. And it was. Like I said, I'm not the biggest Val's fan, I just don't like his ego and his personality, but I give credit when credit is due. I usually like his choreography (I still go back and watch Janel's samba - one of my favorites ever! and some dances he did with Zendaya and Danica), so I really don't know what happened with him this season, because Rumer is good. Is she the best? No, but she is good.
      In which interviews could Nastia "win people over"? In her packages? The producers show you what they want to show you. She is a sweetheart and they made her look like she is a cold bi*ch and a total brat. And I don't even care for that stuff. I want to see good and quality dancing. Nastia was the best dancer this season, so I voted for her. Alfonso was the best previous season, so I voted for him. And Val says it almost every single season... It worked for Maks, so I guess he thinks it's gonna work for him too. He also said it in this week's results show. ;) And don't even get me started on his interviews after the show... And I bet he's gonna say it again next week. But there are also Sharna and Allison, who has never won, so it maybe won't help him much. I wouldn't take pride in being the winner if a win would be 'given' to me by the producers, who are trying to do whatever they can to help me get there.

      Tamara Krošl Tamara, I see things very differently then you do and probably read different things. I have noticed that many have found Nastia to be technically beautiful but emotionally lacking.
      Many comments were made about Derek not giving credit to Sasha and having to be in all of the dances. They saw it as his ego not being able to give Sasha the floor.
      I believe that Rumer and Val will win and deserve it as much as anyone. It will not be given to them because of favoritism. If they were giving it to val they would never have aired his comment about "uninteresting". They would not have aired Rumer hurting her neck. My comment about immunity was in response to your thinking that Val was being given things by the producers.

      Tamara Krošl omg is just a show no matter what we say nothing is going to change, I used to feel the same but now I just enjoy it and my favorite always going to be Maksim. #lovemaksforever

    lets face it guys meryl was the best dancer on that season. no competition even Charlie was no match to her and that's real.charlie was lucky to have meryl as a partner at the Olympics. rumer as far as im concern was the best dancer on season 20 even if nastia was on the finals. all this panels are rooting for nastia. shame on you.its so evident you don't like rumer but she won bec she was the best dancer on the show not nastia or ryker or noah. I like val bec she was good and has patience esp with rumer. their chemistry was off the charts their dancing esp their waltz was breathtaking and the audience was s.o quiet just watching this two dance and experiencing the journey together with this two. this is the dancing you will never forget.
