- So,back in 2001 I had Mondays off work and I made a rare trip into Bristol from my then home in Patchway.I browsed the shops and ended up in HMV where I picked some c.d. or other to buy.But when I go to the till there was a stack of new c.d.s from one of my favourite bands the Wurzels.The girl serving told me it was the new Combine Harvester remix c.d. single which was raising money for Farm Aid and the Wurzels would be in to sign them later!Not only that but they were going to be playing just around the corner in Broadmead in about an hour and a half,if I remember rightly.So I bought the c.d. and then cue a mad dash back home to get all my other Wurzels c.d.s and my trusty 8mm video camera.(It was only fourteen years ago but the digital age hadn't quite happened yet.)I just made it back in time,found myself a good position and pressed record!
This recording has moved house with me and it's been sat in a cupboard for many years so I thought it was time it saw the light of day.I did actually do four videos of this for someone to pass on to the band years ago but i'm not sure whether they ever got them?Now i've re-recorded it from the original 8mm tape and this is the best quality I can get.
I certainly don't claim any copyright at all,the songs are all obviously the Wurzels',and I'm putting this on youtube for the fans to see.And the band members hopefully.
Watching this back fourteen years later I'm very pleased with how it came out and it's a nice little snapshot of them in full flow from this time.
I've seen them play many times in and around Bristol and at Ashton Court and Glastonbury Festivals and having taken my kids to see them for their first ever gig at Yate Shopping Centre recently I can say that they're still going strong!

Excellent recording of The Wurzels. My friend saw the Wurzels at Glastonbury so they're still going strong. Legendary Country Band.

I remember when the Combine Harvester came out in the 70's!!!. I think it was 74 or 75???. I was 17 then!!!. I had a crush on Pete Budd the Lead Singer!!!.☺
