- EASY DIY FAUX STUCCO FIREPLACE SURROUND BUILD | Wood Slat Wall Fireplace Makeover
We transformed our living room by building a super easy stucco fireplace surround for an electric fireplace and added a new popular trend of a wood slat wall as the fireplace backsplash! We added custom-built ins on each side of the fireplace to give us extra storage. This faux stucco fireplace is super easy to build and gives any fireplace lots of character that is still modern, simple and clean. The wood slat wall was a beautiful accent wall against the stucco fireplace. And we added a beautiful wood mantel. Follow along as we share how we transformed our living room by building an electric fireplace surround that looks like stucco, added a wood slat wall and cabinets for extra storage on each side.

QUESTION- it has been a year, how has your stucco fireplace held up??
think I am going to attempt this stucco method on our existing fireplace. It will be going over painted wood. I hope that it works on that!

I like the vertical look of the slats. Wondering if you kept any gap between them or are they snug together?

Great question! There's vents on the front, on the top, that it blows out of.
Beautiful! How did you attach the vertical slats to the drywall? It looks like small nails... Will that not easily pull out?
With our nail gun. Nail guns have really skinny nails very easy to pop the board off the wall with a prybar and then take the nails off.
How thick was the MDF you used? 1/2" or 3/4"? We're about to do the same thing with out fireplace surround.
We just used 1/4in! Happy building! We love our fireplace and how it all turned out!
Can this be done for an outdoor fireplace, under a covered porch?
I'm not sure... i would check the fireplace description if it could be used for outdoors.
How did you find the angle for the slats touching the ceiling?
We used a piece of paper against a level and then folded it to the angle 🤗

The revel was not film very well, you didn’t keep camera on the fireplace for long so we can see from a distance. The end you should have just done a voice over while still filming the room at different angels. I kept trying to get a picture and it was frustrating. Other than that it’s beautiful done.
