CaCl2 is 1Ca and 2Cl because the 2 is a subscript and comes after the Cl it only applies to the Cl.
In order for it to be 2Ca and 2Cl the chemical formula would have to be Ca2CL2, both of the twos being subscripts. Does that help?

When you have time, can you explain the differences of all these calculations as to why we are jotting back and forth between them so much and in so many ways numerically? Why are we? How should we ?
Is there even a more in-depth visual or is the idea so tiny to see that I cannot even imagine what we are trying to bounce back and forth trying to accomplish so many things? I don;t see what I need to with these yet, no a-ha or anything...
I mean, I see little tiny moles and atoms... dots... and well I don't see how they are needing to be rearranged and why, and how they are being used and combined in so many different ways. I want to though!
You are so smart and I feel like I am a micro particle that cannot make sense out of particles! I mean, you have explained this better than anyone else I have seen yet! Your a great teacher, I feel I can find some more clarity than I have yet with the way you are showing us how to organize this, I thank you for your effort and time :) . I just hope I can finally get it before my final !

calcium chloride and water I mean

    • @stepbystepscience

+akmal hakim The dot is not a multiplication sign it means the there a two water molecules "attached" to the CaCl2. That sense it is more of an addition sign. To get the molar mass add the mass of one CaCl2 and 2 H2Os. Does that help? You can see a listing of all my videos at my website, www.stepbystepscience.com
