  • In this video, I'm going to be turning my logo into a Runestone Scene in Blender 2.83, and breaking down exactly how I made the scene. The whole scene took me around a week to make and it was really fun to work on it!

      Thanks! You can pass the image through a colorramp to get a black and white image, and then try to isolate the fire by sliding the handles on the colorramp. You can then connect the output from the colorramp to the alpha input of the principled shader. The white parts will be opaque and the black parts will be transparent.

Otherwise you can see a ball of light from the area lights instead of just having the lights affect the rock like in your case

    • @RenderRides

    Hi, i'm new here. May i ask? So when you put the emitter node and put the texture painting as a fac it was just for the emitter right? Where did you put the rest of stone texture? Since you didn't show the full node. I need to know how to combine 2 texture with a abstract emitter on it. If it not so abstract we can just select the poly and assign the texture but you combine it in one texture material right?

    • @RenderRides
      @RenderRides  3 роки тому

      I broke down how I went about making the rock texture from 8:10. I got the textures from texturehaven and connected them to their respective slots in the principled shader. If you have the node wrangler enabled, you can simply press Ctrl Shift T with the principled shader selected and then select all of your textures to automatically place them in.
      I'm not exactly understanding what you mean on the second part, but based on what I understood- You can combine two textures with the MixRGB node, and two shaders with the MixShader node. For materials where you need emission, you can mix your principled shader with an emission shader using the MixShader node and have a black and white texture to control the factor. The white areas will use the second slot and the black areas will use the first slot.
      About your last sentence- Yes, you can have an extra material slot where you only have an emission shader, and select the faces you want to assign to it. This works well when your topology is relatively predictable. But when it is as detailed as mine, it's better to just use vertex groups or paint a texture to control the factor inside the same material.

    • @elynchi1234
      @elynchi1234 3 роки тому

      @@RenderRides oh, so that was automatic. and it only connected with the principal bsdf? so If we want to make something detail with some part light up, but it has too many poly/tris, we just have to paint the emitter spot with white painting and be done with it? I thought you skip those parts where you connecting all the dots on the node. well, I certainly learn something new. I did join the discord server but I think I'll ask here. anyway thanks!

      Thank you! I used a renderfarm for this, so it rendered in a flash. My config is i5 7200U and GTX 940MX. It's quite an outdated midrange setup, but hopefully, I'll be upgrading to a much better one soon.

      @@RenderRides oh man, sucks with paused delivery and all. I'd definitely recommend getting one when things work once again. Get either a large sized or medium sized one. Before I bought a cheap small one for my previous 27" monitor and boy was that a mistake. such tiny movements translated into big ones. So get one that is proportionate to the screen you use :) (Wacom is what I have, but Huion has really improved theirs over the last years)

      @@neuvatn Thanks for the suggestion! I was taking a look at the Huion H950P as it is the only one which is available currently on Amazon that's not gonna burn a hole in my wallet. That's really weird, but I don't think that's the reason and I use a Ryzen CPU as well. It doesn't have an integrated GPU so nothing could pose a problem there.
