- My first big video project thing, all you need to know about Skullmonkeys. Would you want to know everything about Skullmonkeys? Probably not. But it's here, anyways.
This video took the life out of me to make, and I would like to give a special thanks to all the people that supported me in making it.
Turns out the DeviantArt picture shown at the end's account has been deactivated. Weird. So here's an imgur instead to the image:

Skullmonkeys and the original Rayman are some of the hardest older platformers ever.
Holy smokes, this is the length of a feature film! Can't wait to dig into this later!!
Hope you enjoy!
the amount effort put in to this video is insane
Makes it all worth it in the end to hear stuff like that!
It's so sad I hadn't heard of The Neverhood and Skullmonkeys back in my childhood. Then again, it was the mid-to-late 2000s.
In any case, that was a really nice review/retrospect of the series!
Oooh I am just so happy to find this video!!! Thank you for your hard work, I really appreciate it!!
Thanks :) Just glad people ended up enjoying it, makes it worth all the hard work in the end.
Thanks for such a great video! Geez, you even got BoomBots in there! I lived through the Neverhood era as it happened, and even successfully begged my parents for a PlayStation specifically for Skullmonkeys. This brought back a lot of great memories.
Btw, I remember at the time that I used to watch the raw video assets on the computer. I found a rough cut scene that was half storyboard, half not-yet-finished animation. To this day I have never found it mentioned anywhere else... was I the only one?
Of course I had to fit BoomBots in, wouldn't have been able to forgive myself had I left it out! When was the last time anybody else ever talked about the poor thing. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Can't wait to dig into this! Would you consider doing one for The Neverhood next?
I would like to eventually, pairing up the video with Armikrog would make for a fun analysis. But to be honest, that's far off in the future, right now I have my sights set on certain other games.
finally an in depth review of the skullmonkeys. this game really didn't get enough attention.
thank you for making this video
Somehow this comment passed through my inbox unnoticed. Sorry about that.
But agreed! Thought it always deserved some attention, so might as well give it myself. Better late than never, I suppose. Hope you enjoyed!
Great job, this review deserves MUCH more views
Thanks! Just glad people ended up liking it
Great work putting this together! Clearly A LOT of work went into it. Was a great trip down memory lane! I do also think it's a bit of a shame what happened to the neverhood team :-(
Glad you enjoyed it! But yeah, that's just how the business is sometimes... At least we'll always have the games they left behind :) Now if only they could rerelease The Neverhood on GOG and Steam.
@@davistoa exactly, at least we have those great games still to play. Would be awesome to see neverhood get a release on steam!
I love this video. Not just because it's about The Neverhood, but because I love this kind of silly editing.
Glad to hear my dumb editing was worth the effort!
@@davistoa that kind of editing puts a smile on my face.
Holy smokes. This is... dare I say it... Fucking Based.
Yes, yes, YES!
Ok that queen shit got me 😂😂
ight saving this video for later omg
Looking forward to hearing what you think!
Just like Hercules the video game
Are you going to make 3D open-world Skullmonkeys game?!
I wish there was a 3d skull monkeys game.
Este juego es la ostia
first :-)
Nice video but it was very disappointing that you didn’t mention the creators blatant transphobia
I was heavily considering delving into Doug's mess of opinions, but I decided against it on the merit that going into that topic would overshadow the ultimate point of the video, which was to shine a spotlight on a game I felt didn't get enough love. The fact that Doug has since then decided to turn his channel into a horrifying political agenda thing has reinforced for me that I made the right choice in just ignoring all that crap. But you are right, that is certainly an interesting topic, but I feel it would fit better in a video focused on him specifically.
Not everyone cares about that stuff. Some people can seperate art from the artist.
