you guys should just go deep on dave. an incredible amount of brilliant tracks. some standouts are psycho, heart attack, panic attack, 2 birds no stone, his blackbox freestyles, his fire in the booth. my 19th birthday. could go on and on. in the fire would be a good one too as it would introduce you to 4 other great uk rappers.
Couple of things for non UK listeners. The Windrush generation helped build the UK again after WW2. They came from predominantly Caribbean countries at the invitation of the UK government. In 2018 many were threatened with deportation, denied legal rights, lost homes, lost jobs. Grenfell was a tower block in London that was destroyed by fire in 2017 killing 72 people. The fire was caused by dangerous cladding. Leslie Thomas QC who represents some of the families has repeatedly said, "Grenfell is inextricably linked with race..." It is worth a Google, same with Windrush. Jack Merritt and Saskia Jones (who was also pictured), were both killed in the London Bridge terror attacks. Jack and Saskia worked in prisoner rehabilitation. Jack worked with Dave's brother and he knew him well. Great reaction btw, thanks! The whole album Psychodrama is worth a listen.
Thank you for sharing this information for the non-UK listeners. I hope it provides the local context for them that may otherwise be missed. Important issues highlighted by Dave here. It is also always extremely interesting from my perspective as a Brit to hear American reactions to British music, especially something with as potent a message as this track.
Can't wait until you react to Heart Attack. His greatest song to date. The word play, story telling and social commentary is on a whole nother level. This is THE song that cemented Dave as one of the greatest rappers!
So great to see two young smart black American men taken on an emotion trip into their own culture by a young black English artist/poet/preacher - and leaving a middle aged White Irish man in tears . Thank you for your excellent reaction and i recommend Dave's track "Lesley " if you have not listened yet - its like listening to a movie and has an amazing social conscience message .Love the channel guys and looks like your from my favorite town Chicago !!!
Great reaction. I had to subscribe after "He can piano?" and "I'm not Irish!" 😆 Oh, and the Aaliyah t-shirt! Dave is a genius. Lots of Love from the UK 💜 -x-
This was an amazing reaction, Dave is a genius. Psycho is my favourite. FYI Jack Meritt died in a terrorist attack while trying to protect the young people he was working with, he was a youth worker who helped Daves family, specifically his older brother that was in prison.
From the uk and this reaction is fire!🔥🔥 I love the natural reaction from this song and the passion it brings!! Looking forward to more Dave from you guys🔥
I've said this on so many reaction videos but I'm a white man and I'm not ignorant he was speaking for the past, present and future of the black community. If you play that to your momma she's gonna cry just like I cried. He's from the UK like me I'm so proud of him. Raise your boy up. Love him.
Guys, thanks for sharing this. I hadn’t heard of Dave before, but I definitely will check him out! Loved your commentary. So powerful, guys, so powerful. Yeah, it does feel like an anthem.
19 year old Dave was hosted back when he was 16/17 when he wrote and put out Panic Attack and defo show this track to all your family and friends is the only way to spread this masterpiece.Great reaction bros 💯👊🏾🙏🏾
You guys should check out the original video for this, you don't need to react to the song again, just watch it for yourselves. The visuals are powerful and it makes the song hit even deeper. All the people in it who seem random are black scientists, mathematicians, academics, scholars, teachers, athletes, actors, artists etc from the UK. It's all black people who have achieved a lot in their industry.
YES! You get it... Ok.. so I recommend the next 3songs for different reasons: 1. Location Ft Burnaboy. Just to mix it up. this is a summer VIIIBE! ua-cam.com/video/JpGKWUdRnXE/v-deo.html 2. Just for you to see him play another instrument ; : ua-cam.com/video/gLj9YCI3fuA/v-deo.html Trust - There are tonnes more but this is a good starter list

Great reaction. The UK has a lot of talent when it comes to delivering real lyrics. Ypu MUST check out Akala Fire in The Booth parts 1-4. It will blow you away. For context, he is a rapper that set up a hip hop Shakespeare company for kids. He is a bestselling author. He has done talks at Oxford University on the whitewashing of African history. His raps are an education. Also check out Lowkey - Obamanation, Ghosts of Grenfell and Ahmed. A very political rapper who is vocal in his support for Palestine (check out the Long Live Palestine tracks too) which means he, along with Akala, gets 0 radio play but still has huge support.
yes bruv...love these reactions! Please trust me and check out Stormzy / Ed Sheeran / Wretch 32 - Blinded By Your Grace part 2 Acoustic - TRUST ME BRUV
